Whether it's the autumnal chill in the night air or the crunch of freshly fallen leaves underfoot, the signs of another Spooky Season are lurking around every corner, and we're thrilled (and chilled) to once again team up with Archie Comics to provide Daily Dead readers with the weekly treat of exclusive previews from their family-friendly (and festively frightful) digest comics, and this week we have an early look at seasonal sprites Trick and Treat returning to cause more Halloween havoc for Sabrina Spellman and her friends, with Trick giving his own spooky spin on a Halloween-themed cooking contest (much to the dismay of Jughead and his eerie appetite)!

Though the concept was only introduced in the 21st century, the Thirteen Primes have become a tenet of Transformers media. The first Transformers created by the Godlike Primus, the Thirteen are the progenitors of the Cybertronian race and the originator of the title "Prime." The group were meant to help defeat Primus' rival, Unicron. Though they were successful, unfortunately they didn't all return from battle the same.
When the Primes returned, it wasn't long before fighting broke out between them. Considering how important they are, it's hard not to wonder which of them are the best. With some of them appearing more often, its not hard to notice some Primes have made far greater contributions to Transformers history than others.
Updated by Sage Ashford on May 18th 2024: The different Primes were first introduced in the Covenant of Primus novel, but that wasn't their last appearance. The group continually appeared in future storylines,...

The Wicked Trinity witches are ready to dominate Greendale High School in their quest to be the most powerful coven. Meet Amber, Jade, and Sapphire, each drawing power from wind, fire, and water - a trio set on magical supremacy. Get ready for a darker, more mature story from Archie Comics, inspired by Charmed and The Craft, blending fantasy and horror.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina may have ended after its fourth season on Netflix, but the adventures of Sabrina and friends continue on in Archie Comics. This June, a trio of witchy nemeses hit Greendale High School, determined to become the world’s most powerful coven. The Wicked Trinity characters debuted in a more kid-focused series by Archie Comics last year, and this will be their first step into something more mature.

Big Barda subverts comic tropes by stripping down for battle against mind-controlled male models. Birds of Prey addresses comics' legacy of appealing to a certain image, while empowering female characters. Barda's unblushing nudity presents an intimidating rather than provocative image, showcasing the team's strength.
Warning: Contains spoilers for Birds of Prey #8Big Barda, a New God and member of the Birds of Prey, bares all in a battle that subverts one of comics' oldest tropes. The new team led by Black Canary has been called on to investigate an issue with some mind-control clothing. The Birds of Prey, a team canonically comprised of DC's most finely-feathered female heroes, turn the male gaze on its head in this fashion-packed undercover operation.

Archie Comics' "Archie's Valentine's Spectacular" #1, available February 1, 2023, is written by Jamie L. Rotante and illustrated by Holly G, Jim Amash, with a cover by Dan Parent:
"...love is in the air with a new story to kick off this collection of romance tales. In 'More Than Meets the Eye', a new student has arrived at 'Riverdale High'. 'Cassie Cloud' is tall, confident, funny and catching all the guys' attention -- much to the chagrin of the girls.
"But she doesn't seem interested in the most popular guys in school -- instead she's been hanging...
"...with the likes of 'Randolph', 'Dilton', 'Tonso', 'Raj' and even 'Prankenstein'.
"What can 'Archie' and 'Reggie' do to get her attention, without catching the ire of 'Betty' and 'Veronica'...?"

Many fans of Archie Comics' notoriously dark Sonic the Hedgehog comic series would be surprised to learn that it was heavily influenced by the last thing that they'd ever expected - the franchise's most cartoony and ridiculous television show.
A main point of pride among Archie's Sonic fans is the lengths at which the comic diverged from essentially every other rendition of the Blue Blur except for its main influence, the Saturday morning (SatAM) cartoon. The overall dark and mature tone of Archie's Sonic is mainly why many of its most fervent fans prefer it over Idw Publishing's current comic series. Their utter rejection of essentially everything else in the franchise is why they will never go anywhere near the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog TV show.
