We’re a couple weeks away from the BAFTAs awards ceremony and one category at the show will celebrate rising stars.

Nominees Mikey Madison, David Jonsson, Marisa Abela, and Nabhaan Rizwan celebrated their nominations at the Vanity Fair Ee BAFTA 2025 Rising Star Party on Wednesday (February 5) at Pavyllon in London, England.

The event featured a who’s who of British talent, including many fan fave actors and plenty of newcomers who probably have a shot at a nomination in the future.

The winner of the Ee Rising Star Award will be announced at the BAFTAs on February 16. Also nominated in the category is Unstoppable actor Jharrel Jerome.

Mikey stars in the new movie Anora and earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. David had his breakout in the sci-fi thriller film Alien: Romulus this past year. Marisa stars in the HBO series Industry and led the film Back to Black in 2024.

While Imogen Heaney's early storylines in Heartstopper centered on her romantic involvement with boys, a season 3 interaction with Sahar left Imogen's sexuality less clear. Based on the beloved webcomic series by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper is a beloved coming-of-age British Netflix series centered around the romance between schoolmates Charlie and Nick. Supporting them in the Heartstopper cast is an ensemble of LGBTQ+ teen characters.

Imogen stands out as being one of the only "straight" characters amongst the core teens. Much of season 1 revolves around her crush on Nick, though she is understanding when he breaks the news that he isn't attracted to her. Charlie (played by Joe Locke) faces something of a mental health crisis as beau Nick (Kit Connor) becomes increasingly concerned. “Invincible” Announces Season 2 Date With First-Look Teaser

While San Diego Comic-Con guests got an early sneak peek at the highly anticipated second season of Prime Video’s adult animated superhero series “Invincible,” home audiences thankfully quickly got in on some of the action, as well.

Prime Video has released a teaser trailer announcing the Nov. 3 premiere date. In addition to the teaser, series creators also dropped a standalone episode “Atom Eve” centered on the origin story of the teen superhero.

“Sherlock” star Amanda Abbington has been tapped to appear in Ludovica Musumeci debut feature, “To the Girl I Once Knew.”

The film, which Musumeci writes and directs, has also cast Amelia Eve (“The Haunting of Bly Manor”) and Stella Lelouch (“The Reunion”).

They will join Frances de La Tour (“Harry Potter”), Calvin Demba (“The Rig”), Rhea Norwood (“Heartstopper”) and newcomer Oriane Pick. Amy Blair is casting director.

Production is set to start this summer.

“To the Girl I Once Knew” tells the story of Gabi (played by Pick) who secretly struggles with mental illness. When her long-term boyfriend suggests moving in together, she finds her life becoming even more complicated.
