The series was a huge hit, running for five seasons and 20 episodes, before concluding in January 2019. In a recent conversation with Collider's Steve Weintraub, Elba opened up about the future prospects of his iconic character while discussing his latest venture in Paramount+'s Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off series, Knuckles. The chat ventured into the realm of the critically acclaimed series Luther and its recent expansion into a Netflix film, The Fallen Sun, which continued the story of the tormented yet brilliant Detective Chief Inspector.

Apple TV+ has been on a roll this year, continuously releasing new distinctive shows while focusing on quality rather than quantity. As a result, the streamer not only has a fantastic repertoire to choose from but also doesn't waste viewers' time by making them jump right into a promising series. With numerous successful additions this year, including Drops of God, Bad Sisters, Ted Lasso, and Last Thing He Told Me, it plans to extend its collection once again with the upcoming miniseries, Hijack.

Hijack is an upcoming British thriller series created by Jim Field Smith and George Kay. Idris Elba will feature in, and executive produces the series, which was first greenlit in April 2022. Elba's part will be rather distinctive, as his roles have always been somewhat non-James Bond-esque.
