Season 23 of American Idol continued the audition phase on Sunday night as judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan traveled to New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville to find music's next superstar. The two-hour episode aired Sunday, March 16 (8 p.m. Et/Pt) with Ryan Seacrest hosting.

Country singer Bryson Quick made one of the night's strongest impressions with his rendition of "Time" by Pink Floyd. The 17-year-old from Seymour, Tenn. strolled on set and revealed that his father, Alex, worked as Luke's fishing guide at Blackberry Farm. "He took you fishing several times," Bryson told the judge — with a photo to prove it. Carrie then jumped in the conversation, bragging, "I've been fishing at Blackberry Farm. I didn't need a guide, though."

For its upcoming 23rd season (and eighth season on ABC), “American Idol” had the unthinkable task of replacing superstar judge Katy Perry. Well, the long-running reality TV show ended up pulling from its own bank of successful winners, choosing Season 4 stand-out Carrie Underwood to sit in between Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie at the judges’ desk this year. Perry surprised fans when she announced her departure during an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in February. She was an integral part of the show’s successful transition to ABC and earned an estimated $25 million per season. Singer-songwriter Kane Brown will be recognized with the Country Champion Award at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards. The multi-platinum superstar was selected for the honor in appreciation of his passion for service and groundbreaking contributions to the country music industry and beyond.

“Since the beginning of his career, Kane Brown has ensured that his legacy will extend beyond music,” stated Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “His dedication to empowering and supporting younger generations is nothing short of inspiring, and we’re thrilled to honor him with the Country Champion Award.”

Hosted by Shania Twain, the annual fan-driven awards show will air live on NBC and Peacock on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 8pm Et/Pt (tape-delayed on the West Coast). Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager, and Barb Bialkowski will serve as executive producers.

The People’s Choice Country Awards, first held in 2023, will return for a second edition on NBC in September, with a list of nominees announced Thursday that includes some of the biggest names crossing over between country and the pop mainstream, including Beyoncé, Shaboozey, Zach Bryan, Kacey Musgraves, Morgan Wallen and Jelly Roll.

Bryan led the nominations with 19, followed by Beyoncé with 17 and Musgraves with 15. Notably, none of those three artists had a huge year at country radio, despite their outsized presences as mass-media superstars. That may be one way in which this awards show is looking to distinguish itself from two of its most obvious competitors, the country-music-industry-voted CMA Awards and ACM Awards.

The 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards nominations are out, and Zach Bryan, Beyoncé, Kacey Musgraves, and Shaboozey lead the list.

Beyoncé’s first country album has her up for 12 awards, including the People’s Artist of 2024, Female Artist of 2024, and Social Country Star. The singer also scored nods in The Song of 2024 category for “Texas Hold ‘Em” and The Album of 2024 category for Cowboy Carter.

Other country stars nominated include Kane Brown, Morgan Wallen, and Luke Combs.

Shania Twain is set to host the 2024 People’s Choice Awards live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on September 26 at 8 p.m. Et, airing on NBC and streaming on Peacock.

The 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards is produced by Den of Thieves, with Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager and Barb Bialkowski serving as executive producers, along with Rac Clark as executive producer and showrunner.

The first live coast-to-coast episode of “American Idol” Season 22 aired on Sunday, April 21 on ABC, with the Top 14 contestants performing in front of host Ryan Seacrest, judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, and guest mentor Gene Simmons. Viewers all across the nation voted 19.9 million times throughout the two-hour episode, which had a theme of “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” and the Top 12 artists made it to the next round. In the end, the two singers who were eliminated were Jordan Anthony and Nya.

The 2024 CMT Music Awards are just wrapping up on Sunday night (April 7) at the Moody Center in Austin, Tex.

The annual awards show honored the best of country music videos over the past year, and was hosted by Kelsea Ballerini.

Throughout the night, many stars took the stage to present awards and there were several performances, including from Kelsea herself, Keith Urban, Trisha Yearwood, Sam Hunt and a huge group performance by both a reunited Sugarland and Little Big Town, who just announced they’re going on tour together later this year!

The 2024 CMT Music Awards are underway at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, with Kelsea Ballerini as host.

The CMT Music Awards have a five-way tie for the most nominations going into the 2024 telecast, with Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney and the show’s host, Kelsea Ballerini, picking up three nods apiece.

The nominations arrived Wednesday, less than a month before the CMTs take place at Austin’s Moody Center on April 7.

As has been the custom with the CMT Awards of late, the lineup of nominees for the top prize, video of the year, is a particularly loaded one, with 16 candidates presented to fans for the initial round of voting, to be whittled down to six before the second round begins on April 1, finally knocked down to three top vote-getters as more voting ensues on show day.

Five artists top the list of the 2024 CMT Music Awards nominees, with Cody Johnson, Jelly Roll, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney each picking up three nominations. This year’s nominees also include 14 first-timers: Amber Riley, Ashley Cooke, Bret Michaels, Chayce Beckham, Hozier, Koe Wetzel, Stephen Wilson Jr., Tyler Childers, Warren Zeiders, Zach Bryan, Anne Wilson, Ella Langley, The Castellows, and Tigirlily Gold.

Winners will be announced during the awards show to be held at Moody Center in Austin, Texas on Sunday, April 7th. Kelsea Ballerini is hosting the show, which will air at 8pm Et/Pt (tape-delayed on the West Coast) on CBS and stream live on Paramount+.

There are rumors that American Idol judge Katy Perry might be leaving the reality singing competition series, but there are many reasons why the show needs her. Katy got her start as an American Idol judge alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan when ABC rebooted the show in 2018. Together, they jump-started the careers of the six winners. They also discovered many other successful singers, including Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Gabby Barrett, and HunterGirl.

Although Katy is loved by many American Idol fans, she faced some backlash during season 21. She was criticized for a joke that contestant Sara Beth Liebe perceived as mom-shaming during her audition. This happened even though Katy later tried to convince the singer to stay rather than quit Hollywood Week to go home to her children. Later in the season, Katy advised finalist Nutsa to tone down her performances, for which she was booed for the first time in her American Idol tenure.

American Idol season 21 third place finalist Colin Stough wasn't crowned champion, and although there are reasons for this, there's also a case to be made that he should've won. Colin was eliminated on finale night after his impressive performances of "Stupid Boy" by Keith Urban and "Either Way" by Chris Stapleton. Later in the episode, Iam Tongi was named the American Idol season 21 winner, while Megan Danielle was the runner-up.

Throughout American Idol season 21, Colin put his own country spin on songs such as "Dancing On My Own" by Robyn, "It's Been Awhile" by Staind, "Hand in My Pocket" by Alanis Morissette, "Real Gone" from Cars, and "Nobody Knows" from Pete's Dragon. For someone with no prior experience performing, he took the competition by storm, getting better and better with every performance. American Idol has crowned its season 21 winner, Iam Tongi, and it's time to talk about why he may be one of the show's strongest victors ever. Iam is an 18-year-old high school student. Originally from Kahuku, Hawaii, Iam relocated to Seattle, Washington. The move was motivated by being, "priced out of paradise," according to Iam, as per the show.

Iam became American Idol's most viral contestant when his audition clip was shared everywhere. Mourning the recent loss of his father, Iam sang a cover of James Blunt's "Monsters." The performance brought the judges to tears, and made Iam an early favorite to win the season. Iam performed an emotional rendition of the song at the finale, alongside James Blunt, and went on to win the competition, beating out country/Christian crooner Megan Danielle.
