Disney‘s live-action Snow White remake is set to arrive on Digital on May 13, followed by 4K Uhd, Blu-ray, and DVD on June 24.
The movie, which stars Rachel Zegler as the titular princess and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, did not perform very well at the box office (probably an understatement), and had yet to pass the $100 million milestone domestically in its third weekend in theaters.
Snow White will finish its theatrical run with just over $200 million worldwide, and is expected to end up costing the studio upwards of $115 million.
Per the official press release: "The live-action musical retelling of the classic animated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs sweeps audiences of all ages into an adventure that blends nostalgia, notable new visuals, and a memorable soundtrack, taking story-telling to all-new fairytale heights. New productions of long-beloved songs complement five original “contemporary kingdom” tunes thoughtfully crafted by Egot winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul,...

The first social media reactions to Snow White are starting to come in following last night's world premiere in LA, and they are quite a bit more positive than you may have been expecting.
Though we are used to seeing a lot of gushing first reactions for pretty much every movie, Disney's latest live-action remake has come in for backlash from all corners for a number of reasons. The trailers didn't exactly do much to build anticipation, either, even among those who would usually look forward to Disney fare.
Disney held a scaled back premiere for the movie with no press invited to interview the stars on the red carped, and many believe the reason comes down to supposed "controversies" surrounding lead stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot.
Here's what actor Martin Klebba - who provides the voice of Grumpy - had to say about the premiere during an interview with THR.

The world premiere of Disney's live-action Snow White movie was held last night (we'll have the first reactions for you a little later on), but the event lacked the glitz and glam we're used to seeing when the Mouse House usually screens a new film for the first time.
Press were not invited to interview the stars on the red carpet in favor of "a more celebratory, family-friendly afternoon event to match the tone and target audience for the film."
The real reason is believed to be at least partially due to "controversies" surrounding leads Rachel Zegler, who has been an outspoken supporter of Palestine and critic of President Donald Trump, and Gal Gadot, who has come to the defence of her home country of Israel. There have also been reports that both actresses didn't really get along while shooting the movie (although this has been disputed).

Snow White premiered in Los Angeles on Saturday with most of the trappings befitting a Disney tentpole: food and candy galore, plenty of Snow White-themed activity stations, and appearances from top brass including CEO Bob Iger and live-action film boss David Greenbaum.
The only thing missing? Most of the red carpet press.
Disney opted for a largely press-free premiere due to complicated situations around both stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. Both actresses appeared to be high spirits nonetheless, chatting with each other and posing for photos together on the red carpet outside Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre. Zegler, who stars as the titular princess, and Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, both participated in on-camera interviews with talent-friendly Disney house crew on the carpet.
On the carpet, an animated Zegler embraced actress Emilia Faucher, who plays young Snow White, saying “that’s my girl, that’s my baby.

When Rachel Zegler stepped onto the red carpet at the world premiere of Disney’s “Snow White” on Saturday afternoon in Hollywood, the newest Disney princess was greeted by a smaller-than-usual assembly of photographers to capture her light pink ballgown and dazzling diamonds.
Zegler’s co-star Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, soon followed, also smiling dutifully for the cameras assembled in the center of the tented venue outside the El Capitan Theatre that hosted the pre-party celebration ahead of the 3:30 p.m. screening.
Instead of the usual lineup of dozens of red carpet reporters, the only interviewers they encountered were employed by Disney, like Jodi Benson, who voiced Ariel in the studio’s 1989 animated classic “The Little Mermaid.” Such was the “scaled-back” premiere of “Snow White,” which hits theaters on March 21.

Disney has attempted to move on the various controversies surrounding its live-action remake of Snow White. However, not even stopping press from attending the premiere has been enough to shift the narrative, with the online backlash still dominating the conversation.
People (via Toonado.com) has published a piece on the supposed tension between Snow White actor Rachel Zegler (Shazam! Fury of the Gods) and the movie's Evil Queen, Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman). Alas, it doesn't sound like they're any more fond of each other than their respective Disney characters.
Understandably, it's said that the 23-year-old Zegler "has nothing in common with Gal Gadot, a mom of four kids [and] on top of that, their political views differ, adding to the tension."
Despite that, they have appeared at a handful of events together - including the Oscars - and a source tells the site that people shouldn't look too much into Gadot's...

Disney's Snow White remake has repeatedly come under fire for what appears to be a series of sweeping changes from the 1937 classic. Then, there are the poorly chosen comments about the beloved classic from the remake's lead star, Rachel Zegler.
Still, it's hard to shake the feeling that there are those on social media looking to destroy the movie for its so-called "woke" agenda, regardless of how good or bad it ends up being.
If a new story is to be believed, Disney is now ready to get the whole thing over and done with.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (via Toonado.com), the House of Mouse's decision to exclude press from Snow White's red carpet premiere in Los Angeles is because, in Disney's words, they wanted "a more celebratory, family-friendly afternoon event to match the tone and target audience for the film."

Disney's Snow White remake arrives in theaters a little over a week from now but the movie won't receive the typical red carpet treament.
According to Variety (via Toonado.com), while there will be a pre-party and screening at the El Capitan Theatre with stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, no members of the press have been invited to attend the premiere. That means no interviews and, perhaps most importantly for Disney, no awkward questions.
Instead, the plan is for coverage to be "limited to photographers and a house crew."
It sounds like this surprising change comes as a result of the "controversies" surrounding Snow White. For starters, there's the fact a Latina actress is playing the title character, a decision that faced backlash from the start. Zegler, who obviously didn't deserve any of the racist abuse she suffered, failed to win over fans by calling the 1937 animated movie "dated...

Tickets for Snow White are now on sale, and Disney has released a new trailer, a teaser focusing on the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot), and a number of new posters for its latest live-action remake.
The trailer features quite a bit of new footage of Rachel Zegler's titular Princess arriving to the Enchanted Forest, where she encounters her seven diminutive companions for the first time.
The teaser, meanwhile, shows the Queen erupting in anger upon learning that her stepdaughter still lives and is "fairest of them all." We also get to see the villain's "old crone" form, as she tricks Snow White into accepting the gift of a poisoned apple.
“I am so excited for audiences and fans around the world to see this sneak peek and to revisit the magical world of Snow White,” said director Marc Webb in a recent statement. “Our goal has always been to honor the original animated film,...

We're now just a few short weeks away from Disney's long-delayed live-action Snow White arriving in theaters. However, it doesn't appear the movie will be breaking any box office records.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (via Toonado.com), the divisive remake is currently tracking to open with $53 million at the North American box office. However, while that's described as "the target number," current estimates range from $48 million to $58 million.
As the trade explains, "The studio’s marketing team will now unleash its final push for Snow White. Disney believes the movie has a perfect runway, considering it will be surrounded by male-driven action fare."
On the plus side, there's said to be high awareness for the movie among its target demos, younger and teenage girls as well as women in general.

Disney’s Snow White live-action remake — starring Rachel Zegler as the iconic princess — is tracking to open to $53 million at the North American box office, according to a leading Hollywood research firm. While that’s the target number, the range is anywhere from $48 million to $58 million.
There’s sure to be plenty of debate as to whether that would be a solid-versus-meh start for the spring tentpole.
Directed by Marc Webb, the musical fantasy opens in three weeks, on March 21. Gal Gadot stars as the Evil Queen in the reimagining of the 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (the movie was a transformational moment for Walt Disney’s young studio).

At this point, we're sure you're all familiar with the "controversy" surrounding Rachel Zegler being cast as the lead character in Disney's live-action remake of Snow White.
While it's true that the Shazam! Fury of the Gods star has made some remarks about the iconic 1937 animated classic which did little to help matters, a good percentage of the backlash appears to be aimed at the fact her skin isn't as "white as snow."
Talking to Vogue Mexico (via Toonado.com), Zegler revealed where she currently stands on the conservative backlash to her casting...and appeared to choose her words very carefully.
"I interpret people’s feelings about this film as passion for it, and what an honor to be able to be a part of something that people are so passionate about," she told the publication. "We’re not always going to have the same feelings as everyone around us...

So far, 2025 has been quite a year for movie fans, with many notable titles released in the last two months, including Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, Companion, Better Man, and Ne Zha 2. While there have been plenty of disappointments as well, such as Ke Huy Quan's Love Hurts and Wolf Man, which failed to meet audience expectations, we are only getting started.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall: who's the most nostalgic trailer of them all? Disney is leaning into the love people have for their classic films with their latest teaser trailer for their live-action remake of Snow White. The upcoming American musical fantasy film — directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson — may still be over a month out from hitting the big screen, but that gives us plenty of time for more footage from the featured to be released. And the Mouse House even added in a few retro title cards to pay homage to their extensive history.
The new clip features stars Rachel Zegler as the titular Snow White, Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Dujonna Gift as Maple, Martin Klebba as Grumpy, and Colin Michael Carmichael as Farno as they sing and dance...

A new trailer for Snow White has been released. The upcoming movie is a live-action reimagining of Walt Disney's animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The trailer and marketing are promising Snow White to be "the magical movie event" of 2025, a title that many believe will easily go to Universal's upcoming Wicked: For Good once the year has concluded. Rachel Zegler stars as the title character in the live-action remake with Gal Gadot playing her Stepmother, the Evil Queen. The seven dwarfs — Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy — are also present in the trailer, although their inclusion has received some controversy, particularly over Disney's decision to bring them to life through CG instead of with actors with dwarfism. Check out the official trailer below.

A new international trailer for Snow White has found its way online today (via Toonado.com) and it includes even more never-before-seen footage from this live-action adaptation of the beloved animated classic.
The movie, which looked set to be a complete reimagining before fan backlash, appears to be very much in line with its 1937 predecessor. However, we see more of the title character's origin story (which has been expanded) and get some insights into how that connects to the Evil Queen. Prince Charming also briefly shows up.
Whether the "Bandits" who were once meant to replace the Seven Dwarfs still factor into the story is unclear, though we know extensive reshoots took place last year. Those were meant to, hopefully, avoid what was shaping up to be a complete rejection of Snow White by Disney fans.

Disney’s ‘Snow White’: Rachel Zegler Regains Kingdom From Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen in Official Trailer
Plans for Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen to be the fairest of them all are thrown into doubt when Rachel Zegler as the titular Disney Princess looks to restore her Kingdom in the trailer for Disney’s Snow White remake that dropped on Tuesday.
Fleeing to the woods from her stepmother, played by Gadot, Snow White (Zegler) meets her beloved sidekicks — Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy — as they offer safety. But the Disney Princess asks for their support instead.
“The Queen stole everything from all of us. I’m going to need your help. It’s time to restore our Kingdom,” the West Side Story actor tells her woodland friends from inside their quiet cottage.
The trailer offers a first look at Zegler’s powerful ballad “Waiting on a Wish,” and Snow White faces the Evil Queen disguised as an old woman, offering her that fateful poisoned apple.

In the realm of Disney live-action remakes, few have seemed quite as troubled -- if not outright cursed -- as "Snow White." Directed by Marc Webb, of "The Amazing Spider-Man" fame, with Rachel Zegler ("West Side Story") and Gal Gadot ("Wonder Woman") leading the cast, it's a star-driven affair that seems right in line with what the studio has done with these remakes over the past decade or so, dating back to when Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" became an unexpected $1 billion blockbuster. Unfortunately, this movie has been hit with more than a few setbacks -- setbacks that have, quite literally, come at a cost, it seems.
As revealed in a new report from Forbes, Disney spent a whopping $269.4 million on "Snow White," which was largely the result of extensive reshoots and various delays. This was disclosed because the studio is taking advantage of tax credits for qualifying films offered by the U.

As the latest project by Disney, Wish has garnered a fair amount of criticism. This has unfortunately become par for the course for many recent projects by the House of Mouse. The film itself follows a young girl in a kingdom ruled over by an evil king, who has the power to grant wishes but only does so on a selective basis. With a fallen wishing star and an assortment of creatures at her side, Asha embarks on a journey to discover the truth behind their wishes.
The movie was a major flop at the box office, however, with Wish and Disney as a whole getting piled upon in 2023. Though some have argued that this was merely art of the devolving sentiment toward the studio, various legitimate elements made the Wish movie bad. The film may not be as bad as many claim,...

The original cast of uncredited voice actors brought Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to life nearly a century ago. Adriana Caselotti, the voice of Snow White, is the first female voice actor to achieve Disney Legend status. The cast members had impressive careers beyond Snow White, with notable roles in other famous movies.
Based on the classic Brothers Grimm fairytale, the 1937 version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs remains one of the most beloved Disney movies ever. The timeless tale about Snow White, a young orphaned princess whose eternal beauty threatens the wicked Queen, marked Disney's first feature film and the studio's first color-animated movie ever produced. The film also helped to popularize the diminutive dwarfs Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Bashful, Sneezy, Dopey, and Sleepy.
Several Snow White remakes and spinoffs have been produced in the interim, including the upcoming live-action remake starring Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler slated for a March 2025 release.

Freaky Tales captivates with its high energy, grit, and characters that are easy to root for. The film combines multiple storylines with gusto, though it could have been more cohesive. The supernatural elements in the film don't fully work, but the overall style and momentum make a strong impression.
While they are probably best known for having directed Captain Marvel, writer-directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck show us what they can really do with the stylish, action-packed Freaky Tales. The film tells multiple stories that merge into one by the end, and while it doesn’t fully deliver on this premise or answer questions about its supernatural moments, it more than makes up for it with its high energy, grit, and characters that are easy to root for.
Freaky Tales’ Disparate Stories Play To Its Strengths
Freaky Tales is a historical drama based on true events written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

Taking a one-for-us victory lap after one-for-them studio smash “Captain Marvel,” indie duo Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden blow a big, self-indulgent kiss to the late-’80s East Bay with nostalgia-fueled “Freaky Tales.” Berkeley-born Fleck was all of 10 years old in early 1987, when this overstuffed anthology film is set, which explains the wide-eyed way he romanticizes the defining subcultures of the time.
In four distinct but intertwining chapters — populated mostly with fresh faces, plus grizzled-but-gorgeous Pedro Pascal — “Freaky Tales” melds wildly different sectors of the city: There’s the rowdy-yet-respectful Gilman Street punk crowd; the revolutionary Oakland hip-hop scene; the Warriors’ historic victory over the Lakers, in which local basketball legend Eric “Sleepy” Floyd scored a record-setting 29 points in the fourth quarter; and a disturbing spike in neo-Nazi-linked hate crimes, which strangely serves to tie everything else together.
As if those disparate realms weren’t enough of a grab bag,...

Those who spend too much time online (who doesn't these days?) have surely gotten wind of the "controversy" around Disney's upcoming live-action "Snow White" adaptation. For those just tuning in, it all boils down to the film's perceived "wokeness" -- as though trying to be sensitive about the way you approach a fairy tale that's at least 200 years old and depicts a group of men with dwarfism as fantastical beings who reside in a forest is somehow a bad thing. That's not to say there aren't valid criticisms to be raised about Disney remaking yet another one of its classic animated features (especially this one). But instead of continuing to debate a film that nobody's seen yet, let's talk about the one that already exists, shall we?
