Early on in the season finale of Sunday night’s (May 23) episode of “American Idol,” judge Luke Bryan informed fellow country singer Chayce Beckham he earned the ultimate prize: a chance for the two of them to go fishing.
“Win or lose, we’re going bass fishing,” Bryan said.
Those plans are now on hold, as the 24-year old Apple Valley, California resident was crowned the show’s 2021 victor.
“Your world is about to change,” judge Katy Perry told the now former forklift driver, who’ll release music via BMG and is Nashville bound.
Beckham was an early favorite in auditions after wowing the judges with a performance of ‘What Brings Life Also Kills” by Kolton Moore and the Clever Few, prompting Perry to remark he sounded like “the heart of America.”
Throughout the competition, Bryan repeatedly emphasized how “cool” Beckham was on stage, at one point going so far...

Ahead of Sunday’s Top 4 episode of “American Idol,” Season 19 front-runner Grace Kinstler has just released her new single, “Love Someone.” This 20-year-old college student from Lakewood, Il has been predicted to win the crown for much of this season, according to Gold Derby’s racetrack odds. If Gold Derby’s predictions for “American Idol” Season 19 come true, Willie Spence is about to make history as the first Black male winner since Ruben Studdard. The “velvet teddy bear” won Season 2 of the reality TV singing sensation in 2003 over Clay Aiken and is still considered one of the best champions even two decades later. However, a Black man has never made it to the finale ever since, either as the winner or the runner-up. Can Willie break that curse?

Paula Abdul returned to American Idol on Monday, and the world was good again for two fleeting hours. And by good, I mean wonderfully weird.
The living legend, who served as a judge during Idol‘s first nine seasons (2002–2010), returned to the panel to fill in for Luke Bryan, who announced that he has tested positive for Covid-19. This reunited her with host Ryan Seacrest, who led her on a gloriously uncomfortable walk down memory lane.

“American Idol” fans tuning into the Top 12 reveal on Monday, April 12 got a surprise even before the results were announced. Luke Bryan had to bow out of the first live show of season 19 after testing positive for Covid-19. His replacement – Paula Abdul, one of the original panelists who made “Idol” must-see TV for the better part of a decade. She’ll sit in judgement alongside Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
While America will decide on 10 of the dozen contestants who will move on, the three judges will pick the final two. The Top 16 hoping to make the cut are: Alanis Sophia, Alyssa Wray, Ava August, Beane, Caleb Kennedy, Casey Bishop, Cassandra Coleman, Chayce Beckham, Colin Jamieson, Deshawn Goncalves, Grace Kinstler, Graham DeFranco, Hunter Metts, Madison Watkins, Willie Spence and Wyatt Pike.

American Idol's return to the studio with a live audience comes with a major caveat.
Luke Bryan has been forced to pull out of the season's first live show after contracting Covid-19.
“I’m sad to say I won’t be a part of tonight’s first live @americanidol show,” Bryan shared on social media Monday morning.
“I tested positive for Covid but I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon.”
The news means that producers have brought in a replacement for tonight's two-hour episode, which features the first episode with a studio audience since Covid-19 shut the show down for the first time last season.
But ABC has a treat for fans in Bryan's absence.
Paula Abdul, an original judge when the series debuted on Fox, will fill the vacant seat temporarily.
Abdul joins Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on the new episode of the series.

Luke Bryan‘s early morning tweet has sent shockwaves through the “American Idol” universe. “I’m sad to say I won’t be a part of tonight’s first live show,” he writes on social media. “I tested positive for Covid but I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon.” With Bryan out of commission for the time being, ABC has hired a reality TV alum who’s no stranger to finding talent: Paula Abdul.
Abdul was one of the three original “American Idol” judges, sitting between Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson for eight seasons back when it aired on Fox. She will now reunite with longtime “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, and she’ll sit alongside regular judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Abdul was most recently seen as a panelist on Fox’s “The Masked Dancer,” where she came into contact with former “Idol” winner Jordin Sparks.

Paula Abdul is returning to the “American Idol” family.
For the first time since the singing competition show was revived on ABC, Abdul will return to guest judge after series host Luke Bryan tested positive for Covid-19. He is currently recovering while in quarantine, ABC announced on Monday morning.
Bryan’s positive diagnosis means he will miss the first live “American Idol” broadcast of the season.
“I’m sad to say I won’t be a part of tonight’s first live ‘American Idol’ show. I tested positive for Covid but I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon,” Bryan tweeted.

Gold Derby’s “American Idol” predictions center has been open for less than a week, but we already have ourselves a front-runner to win Season 19: Grace Kinstler. This 20-year-old college student from Lakewood, Il went viral with her original audition of “Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin, earning more YouTube views than anyone not named Claudia Conway.
Grace easily scored a Golden Ticket to Hollywood, where she’s been a fan-fave ever since. According to our odds, Willie Spence is currently in second place to win, while Chayce Beckham comes in third. Do you agree with your fellow “Idol” fans that Grace is the one to beat? Make your own predictions and then sound off down in the comments section.
