Dhananjay Mukherjee was born on 10 April 1984 is an Indian film director, scriptwriter, documentary filmmaker, author, lyricist, magazine editor, illustrator, calligrapher, and music composer. He is considered to the leading filmmakers in Asansol Film Industry in Present time, celebrated for works such as The RAKA (2021). Dhananjay Mukherjee is born in Asansol which is prominent in the field of Coal(Koylanchal). Starting his career as a News Editor, he is drawn into independent filmmaking after meeting Bollywood filmmaker J P Dutta during a visit to Mumbai.
Mukherjee directed 3 Bollywood films as an Assistant Director, including feature films, documentaries and shorts. He is also a fiction writer, publisher, illustrator, calligrapher, music composer, graphic designer and film critic. He authored several short stories.
Mukherjee's first film, Valobasa Sotti Noy (Bengali) (2015),Short Film "Day Light" won eleven Film Festival prizes, including Jio Film Festival 2017.His Upcoming Movie Raka releasing in 19 March 2021.
