“Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary” is an adaptation of the mystery novel series by the pen of Honobu Yonezawa: Mamoru Kanbe‘s mise-en-scène frames and brings to the screen this story with a tight and hypnotic style, alternating suspended silences laden with expectations with flashes of affection. The series dispenses with the conventional extensive narration and over-the-top description typical of nowadays anime and differs from the usual imagery of the mystery genre, yet it still proves to be solid and captivating.
