Exclusive: Samuel Goldwyn Films and Roadside Attractions have acquired North American rights to writer/director Evan Jackson Leong’s Snakehead.

The crime thriller center on Sister Tse (Shuya Chang), who travels from China to New York via a human smuggler known as a snakehead. In the process, she gains favor with the matriarch of a crime family, risking in the ranks quickly. But success isn’t the only reason she came to America. Ultimately, the character needs to reconcile between personal success and her family.

What can you say about a movie called Evilution? The title alone dictates one of two feelings the viewer will have about this movie. Either it will be a "so bad, it's good" movie, one in which the absurdness of the film is recognized and is played as such, or it will be a "so bad, it is really bad" movie. If I went by the first 5 minutes of the movie, I would have gone with the first option, but then the real movie kicked in and, unfortunately, it becomes the latter. this dreck is played straight as an arrow, serious and earnest, when it needed to be a hamfest of the highest order.

“Evilution”/”Basement Jack” DVD signing at Dark Delicacies
Basement Jack (2009)
Cast members of the Black Gate Entertainment films Evilution and Basement Jack will be signing copies of their two new releases at the Dark Delicacies bookstore in Burbank, California (4213 West Burbank Boulevard) tonight, November 17 at 7 p.m.

Brian Patrick O’Toole (Dog Soldiers, Cemetery Gates), writer/producer of both films, will be joined by Eric Peter-Kaiser, his producing partner and star of each splaterfest. Joining the duo will be Evilution actors Billy Morrison (rocker from the Cult) and Sandra Ramirez, Basement Jack director Michael Shelton and the composer for both films, Alan Howarth (Boo, Halloween sequels). Also expected: Basement Jack co-stars Lynn Lowry (The Crazies), Michele Morrow and Noel G (Hood Of Horror, Gangs Of The Dead) and from Evilution, Peter Stickles of Cemetery Gates and The Lair.
