Biography

An army brat, Knowles grew up on military bases all over the world. He earned his BFA in graphic design from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. In 2005, he formed Weirdsmobile Productions, Inc. with his wife Lotti. He has written and directed a variety of other projects, including commercials, corporate videos, web series and music videos.

John wrote and directed the techno-thriller short film SHADOW.NET, which was based on a WIRED Magazine article about the underground world of Internet movie piracy, and is now being developed as a television series. The film has played in numerous festivals, including Cleveland, Dragon*Con (First Place, Thriller), Lake Arrowhead, Las Vegas (Golden Ace Award), Dances With Films, NewFilmmakers NYC, Action/Cut Short Film Competition (Semi-Finalist) and The Film Series at CineGear Expo (Finalist). His other short films have appeared in festivals such as Austin, Chicago Comedy, Flux and Bornshorts. He was recently selected as a semi-finalist in the NexTV Directing Talent Search.

John made his feature directing debut with the horror/comedy CHASTITY BITES, which is expected to be released in 2013. The feature was written and produced by his wife Lotti Pharriss Knowles, made under their Weirdsmobile Productions banner.
