Following its premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival last year, the critically acclaimed Superboys of Malegaon is now officially streaming on Prime Video, and ahead of its debut, we were able to catch up with producer Zoya Akhtar (Gully Boy; Dahaad; Kho Gaye Hum Kahan) and stars Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger; Extrapolations; Hostel Daze) and Vineet Kumar Singh (Mukkabaaz; Gangs of Wasseypur; Betaal) to talk about the incredible film, which is based on the 2008 documentary of the same name, that adapts the true life story of filmmaker Nasir Shaikh and his friends.

The celebration will be hosted by Indian filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s Tiger Baby.

Prior to the event, Guadagnino will deliver a masterclass at the festival. The streamer unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming film at its annual global fan event, Tudum, which took place on Saturday, June 17 in São Paulo, Brazil. The Archies is directed and produced by Zoya Akhtar and is a live-action musical film that reimagines the beloved Archie comics in a 1960s Indian setting. Netflix has unveiled a new teaser for “The Archies,” a coming-of-age, live action musical set in 1960s India based on the teenagers of Riverdale.

“The Archies” is a feature film adaptation of the Archie comics, which are hugely popular on the Indian subcontinent.

The teaser, released during Netflix’s Tudum fan event, reveals that the film is set in 1964 in Riverdale, described on a railway sign as a “hill station,” a term dating back to colonial times that refers to a town located at a higher elevation than the nearby plain. One of the transport links servicing the hill stations are small mountain railway trains running on narrow gauge tracks, known affectionately in India as “toy trains” and the teaser opens with a shot of top train puffing into Riverdale station.

Once in the quaint town, the teaser reveals the iconic Pop Tate’s, a soda shop that Archie and his friends hang out at.

New Delhi, Feb 21 (Ians) Acclaimed lyricist, screenwriter and poet Javed Akhtar’s comments in Pakistan on 26/11 terrorists “roaming free” in the country and the bitterness in the hearts of Indians have drawn huge applause in India.

Akhtar was last week welcomed with thunderous applause at the 7th Faiz Festival in Lahore. Apart from his love for great Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Akhtar (78) spoke largely about language, both English and mother tongue – be t Hindi, Urdu or a regional one – and the need to give the same respect to all of them.

During an interaction, Akhtar said that Pakistan couldn’t blame Indians for being angry.

The lyricist was responding to the audience saying: “You have visited Pakistan so many times. When you go back, do you tell your people that these are good people, they aren’t just bombing us but also greeting us with garlands and love?”

New Delhi, Aug 17 (Ians) Meta and the National Commission for Women (Ncw) on Wednesday partnered with actor Farhan Akhtar’s Mard (Men against Rape and Discrimination), to announce the launch of a reporting campaign “Don’t Hesitate, Do Report, Stay Safe” to improve the online safety of women.

The campaign will focus on increasing awareness and knowledge around tools and resources available to users to report online abuse, inappropriate content, or behaviour.

The campaign has been launched in English along with five regional languages — Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada and Tamil. It will help raise awareness amongst users on reporting the content that they find objectionable rather than sharing it further.
