I don't know how to feel now that The Good Doctor is over.

The last five minutes of The Good Doctor Season 7 Episode 10 were everything I'd hoped for in the finale, but most of the hour was so depressing I was counting down the minutes until the end.

That's not what a series finale should inspire in loyal fans who have stuck with a series for seven years.

Most of the finale was dedicated to Dr. Glassman's refusal to consider further treatment for his brain cancer while elsewhere, Claire's life hung in the balance.

Shaun was determined to save Glassman, who was determined not to be saved, and it seemed like the chances were the series would end with a double funeral after spending the last three episodes mourning Asher's death.

That wasn't entertaining or cathartic. It was unnecessary and cruel.

From the beginning, most viewers have agreed that it is excellent for shows to highlight more autistic characters. The debate is concerning how those characters should be portrayed.

When The Good Doctor premiered on September 25, 2017, it immediately struck a chord among viewers who were glad to see an autistic main character on a television series. It is now airing its seventh and final season, and viewer reactions to it have varied widely as the series has progressed.

As the doctors got to work, Asher was gone but not forgotten, but it wasn't the tribute he deserved.

The hour opened with a large photo of Asher at a memorial service in the hospital chapel. I was dreading this moment almost as much as I had in real life when I had to go to a funeral for someone I loved who died suddenly.

If the entire hour had been devoted to the funeral, it would have been depressing and not in line with The Good Doctor's brand. Still, Asher Wolke was a beloved character who deserved something more than what he got.

The Good Doctor cast is scrubbing out for good.

As Monsters and Critics previously reported, The Good Doctor is ending after a truncated seventh season of just 10 episodes.

Details are scarce about what’s on tap for the last five episodes, but we know they’ll pick up in the immediate aftermath of Asher Wolke’s murder.

However, many of the show’s cast members took to social media over the weekend to reveal that filming of the medical drama was wrapping up.

Given that we have just a handful of episodes left, we knew it was coming, but it doesn’t make it any less difficult.

The Good Doctor has had many questionable plots throughout its time on the air, but fans still tune in to watch the hit drama.

After seven seasons, the ABC medical drama is coming to end. Thus, the cast shared tributes on Instagram about the show and looked back on all they achieved.

Paige Spara, who plays Dr. Shaun Murphy’s (Freddie Highmore) wife Lea, wrote, “Heading into work this afternoon for the last time.”

Christina Chang, whose character was Dr. Audrey Lim, showed one scene captured on production screens and wrote, “The Good Gang.” The actress also hailed costar Richard Schiff, who played Dr. Aaron Glassman, Shaun’s longtime friend and hospital president.

Hill Harper’s exit from The Good Doctor was addressed in the Season 7 premiere of the ABC medical drama.

Harper has been a main cast member since the show’s debut in 2017, playing the role of Dr. Marcus Andrews. The Season 6 finale of the series set up Harper’s departure after Dr. Andrews resigned as president.

In a scene from the first episode of the final season, Dr. Andrews’ whereabouts were noted in a moment between Elfina Luk’s Nurse Dalisay Villanueva and Christina Chang’s Dr. Audrey Lim.

“Marcus sends greetings from Spain,” Villanueva tells Dr. Lim.

“Oh! I thought he was at a meditation retreat in Vietnam,” Dr. Lim adds.

Villanueva responds, “He was and now he’s walking the Camino de Santiago.”
