Starring Jabari Banks as Will Smith, the show is a "dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known," reads the official description. Cassandra Freeman plays Vivian Banks, Will's aunt, with whom he lives in Bel-Air. The actress spoke to ScreenRant about the upcoming final season and revealed that conversations about the story's direction are already happening, and production will begin in a few months.

Bel-Air season 4 will see the return of Will and the Banks family and there are several things that might happen in the final season of the series. With Jabari Banks leading the cast of Bel-Air, the show has raised the stakes with each season. Bel-Air is the reimagining of Will Smith's 1990 sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but instead of being a comedy, it has a more somber tone. Like the original show, Bel-Air follows Will as he assimilates to his new life with the Banks family after leaving Philadelphia.
In Bel-Air season 3, most of the characters in the show evolved and became better than they were in season 2. However, the season 3 finale left enough room for the continuation of their stories in the final installment of the show. With Bel-Air season 3’s cliffhanger ending, the upcoming season has an opportunity to resolve several storylines before the show comes to a conclusion.

Based on Morgan Cooper's short fan film, Bel-Air is a contemporary take on the classic 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. This dramatic series follows the story of star high school basketball player Will Smith (Jabari Banks) after his wealthy uncle, Philip "Phil" Banks (Adrian Holmes) uses his legal connections to bail him out of jail following a street fight that forced Will to pull a gun to defend his friend from a brutal beating. To protect him from the vengeful retribution of a West Philadelphia gangster convinced that Will snitched to the police in exchange for his freedom, Will's mom, Viola "Vy" (April Parker Jones), sends him to live with her sister Vivian "Viv" (Cassandra Freeman) and Uncle Phil in the couple's opulent mansion in Bel-Air. While living in Bel-Air, Will struggles to find his way as he navigates the stark cultural differences between the bourgeoisie milieu...

Bel-Air follows a trend that sees multiple cameos from actors who star in the inspiration for the show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It is a formula that always succeeds, and the show has to maintain the tradition for one actor who has yet to make an appearance. The grittier reimagining of the hit 90s sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, received a mixed reception where some viewers were skeptical about the Bel-Air remake and the justification for its existence. Since then, the show has been praised for its unique twist on the beloved characters, which allows it to stand apart from its predecessor.
The confirmation of a fourth season of Bel-Air came as a relief following the numerous unanswered questions from the end of season 3. As the last chapter in the series, season 4 of Bel-Air will have plenty of stories to wrap up. Needless to say, there are...

Can you believe that 2025 is just around the corner? It’s a year that we’ll say goodbye to a lot of great streaming shows, and here are eight that we’re not quite ready for.
Yes, we know that all good things have to come to an end. If I’m honest, I’d rather a show ends on a high when it intended to end rather than be dragged out. As much as I love Supernatural, the first five seasons (which is where the series was supposed to end) remain the best, and I sometimes think that the next 10 seasons were part of some dream world for Dean.
I digress. Shows need to come to an end on their own terms, but not all get to. Here are eight best TV shows we’ll bid farewell to in 2025, and we’re not quite ready.

Peacock's Bel-Air makes several changes to the original 1990 sitcom starring Will Smith. With Jabari Banks as Will Smith leading Bel-Air’s cast, the series follows the fresh prince’s adventures after moving to Bel-Air from Philadelphia. The reimagined version of the Fresh Prince characters maintains the same premise as the original show but makes some significant changes to the beloved sitcom.
Both of the series focus on Will, but they have their own identity. Bel-Air takes everything that audiences love about Fresh Prince and puts a new spin on it. Although Bel Air has managed to include some of Fresh Prince’s most important storylines, not everything that happened in the original series will make it to the reboot, seeing as Bel-Air season 4 is the final season.
Bel-Air Is Darker Than Fresh Prince A Grittier Reboot
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is a sitcom, which explains why it has several light and funny moments.

The mere mention of a remake or revival has the potential to strike fear into the heart of any entertainment lover. It evokes nauseating flashbacks of brain-rotting shows like 2008's "Knight Rider" or 2021's "Gossip Girl." That said, it isn't always a bleach-in-the-eye situation. Yes, there are good revivals and remakes of TV shows from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
While nostalgia often holds back people from seeing the forest through the trees, there are instances when the modernized version of a series proves to be better than the original. Take "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" as a prime example. The sitcom turned Will Smith into a household name and features a legendary theme song, but it isn't often credited among the best sitcoms of all time. By comparison, the reimagined "Bel-Air" flips the focus to the intercharacter drama rather than the situational laughs, coming out a much stronger and resonating program in the end.

The success of Bel-Air is a reminder of what it is that made Will Smith's original The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air different from other sitcoms. Since its release in 2022, Bel-Air has received a highly positive response throughout its three seasons, with much praise aimed towards Bel-Air’s cast for providing a fresh take on The Fresh Prince's original characters. The Peacock series has a similar storyline to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, following Will Smith (now played by Jabari Banks) on his complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to his aunt and uncle’s gated mansion in Bel-Air.
Despite Bel-Air's 85% Tomatometer, season 3’s hints at Nicky’s arrival, and Will’s kidnapping by the same people that attacked Geoffrey’s son, there was some uncertainty if the show would be renewed. However, Bel-Air season 4 has been confirmed, although it will also be the show's last.

Peacock’s Bel-Air is a modern reimagining of the 90s hit sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. But the series will officially end with its fourth season. Unlike the original show, which focused on humor, this series takes a deeper and more dramatic approach to the story of a teen from West Philadelphia. The teen is seen adjusting to life with his wealthy family in Los Angeles. Bel-Air has stood out for its amazing storyline. The show addresses serious issues like race, social class, and privilege with an emotional twist.

The update for season 4 of Bel-Air is fantastic news for fans of the Peacock series, albeit for two separate but interconnected reasons. Bel-Air's season 4 renewal comes months after the series' third season concluded and after much negotiation, as concerns for the series' budget could have led to the show's untimely cancelation from Peacock. However, even with those budget conversations out of the way, the show's final season will only have eight episodes to wrap the series up completely and answer the audience's questions.
Even so, the renewal of Bel-Air is relieving and somewhat expected, as Bel-Air's highest-rated episodes all came from season 3, with the season's finale being the second highest. The introspective reboot of the Will Smith series has always offered insightful looks at family, identity, and class, adding modernized details that made each issue even more complex for Will (Jabari Banks) to explore. Bel-Air is Peacock's darker reimagining of the classic 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and the drama has been renewed for its fourth and final season. Spawning from a 2019 fan film by Morgan Cooper, Bel-Air follows a teenager named Will (Jabari Banks) who is whisked away from the mean streets of West Philadelphia to live with his wealthy relatives in the titular neighborhood in Los Angeles. Like the original comedy series, Bel-Air tackles issues like race, elitism, and the class divide within the Black community, but it does so with a straight face instead of laughs.

Fans of Peacock's Bel-Air have a reason to celebrate and more today. The series, which offered a unique dramatic redo of the popular sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, will be back for a fourth season, but it comes with the announcement that it will be its last...and it will have a lower than usual episode count. So, alongside the celebrations also comes some bad news, sadly.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Peacock Premium has renewed Bel-Air for a fourth and final season that will consist of eight episodes, down from the typical ten episodes of previous seasons. The news of the renewal decision arrives three months after the Season 3 finale was released on the streaming service on Sept. 5. An exact reason for the decision to end the show with Season 4 wasn't given, but some reports say that budgetary reasons could be a factor, which is why the renewal news came later than usual.

Peacock’s Bel-Air is doing “The Carlton” again after renewing the fan-favorite drama for a fourth and final season. Bel-Air is a contemporary reimagining of the beloved ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, starring a young Will Smith as a Philadelphia import learning to navigate the lap of luxury in Los Angeles, California. According to sources, Bel-Air Season 4 has eight episodes to end the series.
The evolution of Bel-Air is remarkable. The series comes from Morgan Cooper’s four-minute viral short, which presents a more grounded and grittier take on the characters and premise of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Bel-Air helped put Peacock’s name in the spotlight as one of the streamer’s most successful original series.

Now, this is a story all about how the future of Bel-Air got flipped, turned upside-down. The series, which served as a more dramatic reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, is not going to have as long of a run as the show it's based on, which lasted six seasons.
Per Deadline, it has been revealed that Bel-Air has been renewed for Season 4. The update on the show's future comes three months after the third season concluded its run on Peacock, and as there were concerns about a cancelation, it should come as good news for fans to know the series will continue. However, the reveal comes with some bad news, as it's also being reported that Season 4 will serve as the final season of the show. Additionally, Season 4 will reportedly have a smaller episode count, expected to consist of eight episodes, two lower than the 10 featured in the three prior seasons.

Bel-Air has been renewed for a fourth and final season at Peacock, although there will be one notable change. Back when the reboot debuted, in February 2022, the reimagined and more dramatic take on Will Smith's Fresh Prince of Bel-Air helped establish Peacock as a streaming service and was its most-viewed series at one point. But after having several showrunners at the helm, not to mention numerous twists and cliffhangers, another iteration of Fresh Prince is eying the exits.
Deadline confirms that Bel-Air has been renewed for season 4, which will be the last. The news, which comes almost three months after the season 3 finale, is accompanied by a significant shift. Sources note that season 4 will consist of eight episodes, rather than the usual 10. It's reported that the delay in the renewal occurred after conversations regarding the reboot's budget.

Peacock will return to Bel-Air for one last time.
The NBCUniversal-owned streamer has renewed Bel-Air — a dramatic take on Will Smith’s 1990s NBC comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — for a fourth and final season. The renewal comes about three months after season three concluded.
The series, which counts Smith among its executive producers, grew out of a YouTube video by Morgan Cooper that reimagined the sitcom as a gritty drama. Peacock ran with the idea and gave the project a two-season order in September 2020; Bel-Air premiered in February 2022.
Season three followed Will (Jabari Banks) and Carlton (Olly Sholotan) becoming closer as Carlton looked to put his life of addiction behind him and rebuild his reputation — but the newfound partnership also revealed fundamental differences in their experiences and worldviews.

Exclusive: Bel-Air, which helped put Peacock on the original series map, will be coming to an end. The modern-day drama reimagining of the popular ‘90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been picked up for a fourth season, which will be its last. According to sources, the final season will consist of eight episodes, fewer than the 10 episodes in each of the first three seasons.
The renewal comes three months after Bel-Air, produced by Universal Television and Westbrook Studios, released its Season 3 finale on Sept. 5. According to sources, it was preceded by behind-the-scenes budget conversations, which could explain the delay. The most recent Season 3 renewal came ahead of the series’ Season 2 finale.
Peacock stepped up in a major way to land Bel-Air in a very competitive situation when the project was taken out in 2020, handing the drama, based on Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer, a two-season pickup.

Bel-Air made a good choice not bringing back the original theme song from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The reimagined version of the classic 90s sitcom Bel-Air sports an entirely new cast, with Jabari Banks playing Will Smith, yet revisits the same story as The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. However, the Peacock show focuses more on the racial tensions and world of the black bourgeoisie in a dramatic retelling, offering a different take to the originally light-hearted show. Bel-Air currently hosts 3 seasons, but there is uncertainty if there will be a season 4, despite the shows 85% Popcornmeter.
Season 3 of Bel-Air ended with quite a few dramatic cliffhangers as Lamarcus passed out during his honeymoon following his hypertrophic cardiomyopathy diagnosis, Will is kidnapped, and Aunt Vivs pregnancy was announced. Nonetheless, while the drama series differs greatly to the light-heated approach of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, it continues a musical tradition in its soundtrack.

Lee’s “Bad Genius” presents a familiar storyline in a fresh new way that keeps audiences engaged from the opening scene. At its core, the film follows a gifted student named Lynn helping her wealthy friends cheat on tests, but Lee adds compelling layers that transform this into so much more.
Lynn is no ordinary teenager – she’s a math prodigy struggling to balance the demands of school with supporting her hardworking family. When her friend Grace offers to pay for test answers, Lynn sees an opportunity. But her scheme quickly grows more complex as clients pile up. Editing from Franklin Peterson ensures the audience feels every tense moment as deadlines loom and risks rise.
Beyond the suspense, Lee skillfully incorporates thought-provoking themes. By depicting Lynn’s struggles and those of her classmate Bank from Nigeria, viewers glimpse the unique burdens many immigrant families face. And through Grace’s carefree wealth,...

Gen Z students tackle academic injustice and class warfare in Bad Genius, which remakes 2017's hit Thai movie for an American audience. Set to arrive in theaters on October 11, the film is directed by J.C. Lee (once a supervising producer in the similarly scandalous How To Get Away With Murder) and co-written by Lee and Captain America: Brave New World director Julius Onah. The new adaption is similar in story to the original, as high-achieving high school student Lynn decides the only way to pay for college is to run a cheating ring operation for high-class students who otherwise won't make the grade.
Relative newcomer Callina Liang plays Lynn in her first leading role, but she counts on support (both on and offscreen) from 3 Body Problem's Benedict Wong, who plays her doting but strict father. Taylor Hickson and Samuel Braun play her classmates and accomplices Grace and Sam,...

Bad Genius, an American remake of the hit 2017 Thai film, is set to arrive in theaters on October 11. The new adaptation is directed by J.C. Lee, who previously served as supervising producer on Love, Victor and How To Get Away With Murder, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Captain America: Brave New World's Julius Onah. The story closely mirrors its source material, following a bright young high school student who funds her future college tuition by starting a cheating ring for the higher-class, lower-intelligence kids in her class. But there is one major twist that sets Bad Genius apart from its predecessor, and that is the interplay of race in American society.
While the Thai film focuses on class struggles, the Bad Genius remake naturally incorporates the country's diversity an undercurrent that's especially relevant in the wake of the Supreme Court reversing affirmative action. Callina Liang plays the pluck protagonist Lynn,...

Was Nattawut Poonpiriya‘s “Bad Genius” good? No, it was great. It was so great that almost all of the Asia Pacific from India to Australia loved it. It was so great that Bollywood wanted a version of their own, and made “Farrey” in 2023. But like anything that is great about Asian cinema, Hollywood also wants a piece of it. TV and stage writer, J. C. Lee in his debut as a director, offers his “Bad Genius” where he takes what was basic off the original and filled the rest with anything symptomatically Hollywood, including this basicness.
The basicness here means that this is identifiably “Bad Genius” in its core as a narrative — all the plot points are there, all the stakes, and consequences. It is remarkably shorter: some 30 minutes shorter than both the Thai and Bollywood versions. The whole set up remains the same: highschool poster girl and boy...

Benedict Wong made his MCU debut as Wong in 2016's Doctor Strange, playing a far more realistic version of the character than the one typically seen on the page.
The actor has since appeared in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Stephen Strange's demise in Avengers: Infinity War meant Wong became Sorcerer Supreme, a title he still holds. Heading into Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, that's bound to make the hero a key figure in the fight against Doctor Doom.

The update on Bel-Air season 4 is concerning, considering how season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger. Season 3 of Bel-Air added in several new and old storylines to the Peacock remake, increasing the tension as each character went through a whirlwind of a summer. That being said, the chances of that tension getting resolved are less likely after the creator's response to Bel-Air's renewal was unfortunately less than certain about whether the series would get a season 4.
Showrunner and executive producer Carla Banks Waddles, after Bel-Air's season 3 ending was released by Peacock, mentioned that she was uncertain on if the series would get renewed. The fact that season 4 of Bel-Air is not guaranteed is somewhat disheartening, as so many of its storylines had quite a bit of potential. ‘Bel-Air’ Costume Designer on “Epic” Season 3 Finale Wardrobe, Including Hilary’s $25K Wedding Dress
For two seasons, QueenSylvia Akuchie has been the costume designer for Bel-Air, which means she dresses the majority young adult cast of the Peacock drama as well as the guest stars from the original The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air sitcom who’ve appeared on the series, like Jospeh Marcell, who made a cameo in season three’s episode six “Baggage.”
“It’s so beautiful to dress them, and they’re all so open and eager,” Akuchie tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I fangirl a little bit over some of the characters.”
Like the ‘90s comedy which was groundbreaking for its depiction of an upper-class Black family, Akuchie prioritizes representation in her role. Olly Sholotan takes his opportunity to portray Carlton Banks on Peacock’s Bel-Air seriously.
“This is the only dream that I’ve had since I was a kid,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve always wanted to create art for a living, so being able to do this is the biggest blessing of a lifetime.”

Sholotan’s Carlton wrestles with anxiety, developing a drug habit as a way to manage his mental health issues.
And seeing the character in this new light took viewers some getting used to over the first two seasons, with showrunner Carla Banks Waddles and the writers on the series taking note of feedback from viewers.

According to Banks, he wants to see star Alfonso Ribeiro join the series. "Were going down the list. I think weve gotta hit Alfonso [Ribeiro] next. Come on, Season 4, lets do it," he said.
