According to Deadline, Presence star Callina Liang has joined the upcoming Street Fighter reboot as Chun-Li. She joins a star-studded cast that includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. In the source material, Chun-Li is known as a martial artist and Interpol officer who seeks revenge against the murderer of her father, the franchise's main antagonist, M. Bison. Her inclusion likely means that audiences will see Bison on the big screen after Raul Julia portrayed the character in the 1994 cult classic. Street Fighter is set to be directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip).

Winston Duke will lead Kingsland, the fifth drama series that Kevin Hart and Charlamagne Tha God’s audio production company has made with Audible.

It evokes nauseating flashbacks of brain-rotting shows like 2008's "Knight Rider" or 2021's "Gossip Girl." That said, it isn't always a bleach-in-the-eye situation. Yes, there are good revivals and remakes of TV shows from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.

While nostalgia often holds back people from seeing the forest through the trees, there are instances when the modernized version of a series proves to be better than the original. Take "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" as a prime example. The sitcom turned Will Smith into a household name and features a legendary theme song, but it isn't often credited among the best sitcoms of all time. By comparison, the reimagined "Bel-Air" flips the focus to the intercharacter drama rather than the situational laughs, coming out a much stronger and resonating program in the end.

It's been a great year for new shows on Peacock, capped off by The Day of the Jackal. There's still one more good show coming this year (Laid starring Stephanie Hsu on Dec. 19!), but for the most part, we've seen all we needed to see to share the best Peacock shows of 2024!

The series, which offered a unique dramatic redo of the popular sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, will be back for a fourth season, but it comes with the announcement that it will be its last...and it will have a lower than usual episode count. So, alongside the celebrations also comes some bad news, sadly.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Peacock Premium has renewed Bel-Air for a fourth and final season that will consist of eight episodes, down from the typical ten episodes of previous seasons. The news of the renewal decision arrives three months after the Season 3 finale was released on the streaming service on Sept. 5. An exact reason for the decision to end the show with Season 4 wasn't given, but some reports say that budgetary reasons could be a factor, which is why the renewal news came later than usual.

Peacock is extending (and ending) the Fresh Prince’s reign, renewing Bel-Air for a fourth and final season.

Executive-produced by Will Smith, Bel-Air is a dramatic reimagining of the iconic ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, inspired by a short film released by Morgan Cooper.

Exclusive: Bel-Air, which helped put Peacock on the original series map, will be coming to an end. The modern-day drama reimagining of the popular ‘90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been picked up for a fourth season, which will be its last. According to sources, the final season will consist of eight episodes, fewer than the 10 episodes in each of the first three seasons.

The renewal comes three months after Bel-Air, produced by Universal Television and Westbrook Studios, released its Season 3 finale on Sept. 5. According to sources, it was preceded by behind-the-scenes budget conversations, which could explain the delay. The most recent Season 3 renewal came ahead of the series’ Season 2 finale.

Peacock stepped up in a major way to land Bel-Air in a very competitive situation when the project was taken out in 2020, handing the drama, based on Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer, a two-season pickup.

Bel-Air made a good choice not bringing back the original theme song from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The reimagined version of the classic 90s sitcom Bel-Air sports an entirely new cast, with Jabari Banks playing Will Smith, yet revisits the same story as The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. However, the Peacock show focuses more on the racial tensions and world of the black bourgeoisie in a dramatic retelling, offering a different take to the originally light-hearted show. Bel-Air currently hosts 3 seasons, but there is uncertainty if there will be a season 4, despite the shows 85% Popcornmeter.

Season 3 of Bel-Air ended with quite a few dramatic cliffhangers as Lamarcus passed out during his honeymoon following his hypertrophic cardiomyopathy diagnosis, Will is kidnapped, and Aunt Vivs pregnancy was announced. Nonetheless, while the drama series differs greatly to the light-heated approach of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, it continues a musical tradition in its soundtrack.

The update on Bel-Air season 4 is concerning, considering how season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger. Season 3 of Bel-Air added in several new and old storylines to the Peacock remake, increasing the tension as each character went through a whirlwind of a summer. That being said, the chances of that tension getting resolved are less likely after the creator's response to Bel-Air's renewal was unfortunately less than certain about whether the series would get a season 4.

Showrunner and executive producer Carla Banks Waddles, after Bel-Air's season 3 ending was released by Peacock, mentioned that she was uncertain on if the series would get renewed. The fact that season 4 of Bel-Air is not guaranteed is somewhat disheartening, as so many of its storylines had quite a bit of potential. For two seasons, QueenSylvia Akuchie has been the costume designer for Bel-Air, which means she dresses the majority young adult cast of the Peacock drama as well as the guest stars from the original The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air sitcom who’ve appeared on the series, like Jospeh Marcell, who made a cameo in season three’s episode six “Baggage.”

“It’s so beautiful to dress them, and they’re all so open and eager,” Akuchie tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I fangirl a little bit over some of the characters.”

Like the ‘90s comedy which was groundbreaking for its depiction of an upper-class Black family, Akuchie prioritizes representation in her role. Olly Sholotan takes his opportunity to portray Carlton Banks on Peacock’s Bel-Air seriously.

“This is the only dream that I’ve had since I was a kid,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve always wanted to create art for a living, so being able to do this is the biggest blessing of a lifetime.”
