Denzel Washington’s version of The Equalizer left an impression on fans. Based on a 1980s television show of the same name, this is a much darker adaptation. Audiences have followed Robert McCall (Washington) as he tries to equalize the scales of good vs. evil. In an attempt to find peace, McCall had to resort to his old methods over two films. In The Equalizer 3, he finally starts to feel peace after a brutal act of violence. McCall’s path to redemption begins in Sicily after his takedown of a ruthless crime enforcer, Lorenzo Vitale.
McCall is in Sicily to find a key in the winery’s vault to recoup money in a cyber heist. His mission is a success until he leaves and is shot in the back by Vitale’s grandson. McCall drags himself back to the mainland until he pulls over on the Amalfi Coast and goes into shock.

Nobody can threaten someone quietly better than Denzel Washington.
Oh, our man can pump up the volume when he needs to, in terms of letting people know he’s bringing the pain — our ears are still ringing from his “King Kong ain’t got shit on me!” taunt from Training Day. But when he lowers his voice to a basso profundo rumble and he fixes that dead-eyed stare on someone, the one that suggests the unflappable, untouchable Teflon Denzel has officially entered the building, and issues some sort of oh-you’ve-stepped-in-it-now promise of bodily harm?...

Director Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington orchestrate a symphony of masterful violence in the summer's best action film. The Equalizer 3 brings bloody vengeance to Italy's beautiful Amalfi Coast. An unstoppable killer burdened by loneliness discovers friendship and belonging in the company of kind strangers. He'll return the favor when their price of extortion becomes intolerable. The saga of heroic vigilante Robert McCall comes to a thrilling conclusion in an unexpected storyline. His reasons for leaving Boston and confronting a merciless new enemy opens a different path of possibilities.
In Sicily, Don Lorenzo Vitale (Bruno Bilotta) arrives at his palatial estate to a shocking surprise. The gate guards have been killed. He cautiously drives into the courtyard. More dead bodies litter the path. The nervous crime boss gets a gun from his glove compartment. He approaches the front door. A terrified soldato shakes as he answers the simple question, "Why are you alive?...

Returning for the third installment in the gritty action saga, The Equalizer 3 aims to deepen the mysterious world of Robert McCall. With Denzel Washington’s undeniable charm at its helm and Antione Fuqua’s seasoned direction, the film promises a continuation of its intense street-justice narrative. Yet, does it deliver the high-octane thrills we’ve come to expect, or does it falter under the weight of its own legacy? In addition to Washington, the film also stars Dakota Fanning, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Andrea Scarduzio, and Remo Girone. Richard Wenk returns as screenwriter.
The film starts with one of the bloodiest intro scenes, beginning with Robert McCall (Washington) captured by thugs. They don’t stand a chance, though, as McCall delivers his famed countdown smackdown, and just like that, the bad guys are rendered useless. After the encounter, he ends up in the small Italian town of Altomonte to recover. He stays with the local doctor,...

To enjoy the (allegedly) final entry in Antoine Fuqua’s “The Equalizer” trilogy, it’s not at all crucial to understand the particulars of how former Marine and intelligence operative Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) lands in Italy for this latest outing. It’s safe to assume the vigilante is there to kick some bad-dude butt, with more convoluted revelations to come. Wherever Robert McCall lands, even a luxurious private winery, there are villains afoot for him to kill off in the most gruesome manners, details be damned.
And “The Equalizer 3” opens with Robert skulking around said winery, offing dark-clad mercenary types, and apparently setting right some sort of horrible injustice. As we might expect, he gets much more than he bargained for — and so will fans of Fuqua’s brutal action series, which closes out in fine style.

"Because of these people, I'm beginning to understand real peace... I believe this is where I'm supposed to be." Sounds good - I think we all feel like we're "supposed to be" settling down somewhere nice in Italy. Sony UK has debuted a second official trailer for The Equalizer 3, arriving in theaters in just a few more weeks. He's taking on the Entire mafia in this one. The sequel to The Equalizer (2014) and The Equalizer 2 (2018), originally loosely based on the 1980s TV series, sees Robert McCall in Italy taking on an entirely different kind of crime kingpin. After settling down in Southern Italy, his friends start to end up dead and he realizes he must now confront the dangerous Italian mafia head on. Denzel Washington returns, with a full cast including Dakota Fanning, Sonia Ben Ammar, Remo Girone, Andrea Dodero, Eugenio Mastrandrea, and Andrea Scarduzio. This seems like it might be badass!

As you'll likely have seen by now thanks to the first trailer, Denzel Washington's Robert McCall is back back back for the third – and apparently — final chapter of the Equalizer movies.
This latest outing for the government assassin-turned-doer-of-good-deeds (even if he often still resorts to violence to get the job done) finds McCall on Italy's picturesque Amalfi Coast, though plans for a relatively more relaxing time are soon scuppered when locals ask for his help to deal with a powerful criminal element.
Naturally, we took the opportunity to speak to returning Equalizer director Antoine Fuqua about why he chose to set the new movie outside the US, the main man's headspace, new danger and an old friend…
Mambo Italiano
More usually found stalking around Massachusetts, the third Equalizer sees Robert McCall instead hanging out at Italian cafes on the Amalfi coast. So is this Fuqua, Denzel Washington and co.

Don’t mess with Denzel Washington.
The Oscar winner is back as former CIA agent Robert McCall in “The Equalizer 3,” helmed by Antoine Fuqua. The third film in the franchise follows Robert (Washington) as he relocates to Italy in hopes to forget his past. Of course, danger follows Robert everywhere, and the ex-assassin cannot truly escape his killer instincts.
According to the film’s official synopsis, Robert McCall (Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.

Sony has revealed new footage for The Equalizer 3. A follow-up to 2018’s The Equalizer 2, The Equalizer 3 will see Denzel Washington return to action as Robert McCall. While not much has been disclosed about the movie, the highly-anticipated action movie is slated to release on September 1, 2023.
Recently, Sony unveiled The Equalizer 3's first look at CinemaCon. According to a Screen Rant representative, the footage splices together Equalizer 3’s action violence with more lighthearted banter between Washington and The Equalizer 3 co-star Dakota Fanning. The reel set the scene for The Equalizer 3’s plot.

After retiring from equalizing and seeking a peaceful life, Robert McCall (Washington) is thrust back into violent chaos after witnessing a mafia car bomb and child abuse. The subtitle “The Final Chapter” also played in the trailer.

In between doling out Oscar-worthy performances and making Shakespearean monologues feel like something you haven't heard a thousand times before, Denzel Washington has spent the past two decades cracking skulls and taking names, going back to at least "Man on Fire." In fact, he's been doing it so long, his co-star in Tony Scott's sublime 2004 action-thriller, Dakota Fanning, had the chance to go off and grow up into a fully-fledged adult actor. That noise you just heard was the sound of millions of Millennials popping the vertebrae in their backs as they abruptly jerked upright, crying out in terror.
Washington and Fanning are now in the process of reuniting for "The Equalizer 3." The vigilante movie franchise is based on the 1980s series of the same name, which was also re-imagined as a TV show starring Queen Latifah in 2021. Both reboots retain the basic setup of the original show,...

New Disney+ original series “The Good Mothers,” which provides a fresh female take on the Calabrian mob, marks a case of truly organic collaboration between the U.K. and Italy to ensure that a great story didn’t risk losing an iota of authenticity.
The show, which is competing in the “Berlinale Series” section, depicts the Calabrian mob through the prism of three daring women inside the ‘Ndrangheta organized crime clan who collaborated with a female prosecutor and withstood the consequences of their attempt to escape its iron grip. It is produced produced by Juliette Howell, Tessa Ross and Harriet Spencer for London’s House Productions, which originated the project, and by Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Gangarossa for Rome’s Wildside, a Fremantle company, which helped to firmly root the story in its Calabrian context.

Creative Team Talk Sky’s ‘Blocco 181,’ Which Mixes Multi-ethnic Milanese Crime and Three-Way Romance
Gangland warfare and a Romeo and Juliet romance with a twist are the main elements of Sky Studios’ first Italian in-house production ‘Blocco 181,’ which is set against the backdrop of a gritty multi-ethnic Milan that has never appeared on screen before.
The eight-episode show – which launches this week on Sky in the U.K. after making a splash in Italy – is lead-directed by London-based Italian director Giuseppe Capotondi, best known for art-heist thriller “The Burnt Orange Heresy” starring Mick Jagger as a shady art collector.
“It’s a dark fable combining crime, romance, sex, and coming-of-age elements,” said Capotondi who besides directing the series, also co-penned the “Blocco 181” screenplay. Capotondi added that, while rooted in reality, the show’s tone “is closer to a graphic novel than to the type of hyperrealistic series [like Gomorrah] that you can expect from Italy.”
