The WWE locker room is unpredictable. One moment you are at the peak of your abilities or an emerging talent destined to become the next big thing, and in the very next moment, you are on the sidelines.
Something of a similar sort occurred with several superstars this year. They had promising careers and great in-ring abilities, but despite that, WWE decided to release them this year.
In light of a successful all-women’s Ple event, WWE Evolution, and the rise of the women’s division in the company, here are 7 female WWE superstars who were released by the company this year, despite their hard work and commitment inside the squared circle.

Bron Breakker is one of the most phenomenal in-ring athletes in WWE today. The Wolf Dog comes from a rich lineage of wrestlers, with his father and uncle, Rick and Scott Steiner, being renowned Hall of Famers. In only a few years, Breakker has made a significant impact on the WWE landscape and is poised to become one of the top stars of the business.
Furthermore, the wrestling world not only gave him fame and fortune, but also love. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion is currently in a relationship with top Nxt prospect Izzy Dame. The duo is very much in love, as seen on social media, and is very much a typical girlfriend-boyfriend duo.

R-Truth is back in WWE after being let go by the company. Fans’ demand was just too strong to ignore, and WWE was compelled to bring back Truth. He wasted no time either, since the announcement of his release, showing up at Money in the Bank to take down John Cena in the tag team match.
Now, with R-Truth back in the promotion, fans are wondering if Triple H or Nick Khan might bring back some more WWE legends. But before looking into the big names who could return, let’s take a moment to understand why the company has been letting go of veteran stars in the first place.

Cora Jade might not have made the biggest impact during her WWE run, but there’s no denying her resilience. She was released in May 2025, but her journey has been anything but easy. In a recent interview, she opened up about a terrifying experience in 2023—an ectopic pregnancy that went wrong, forcing her into emergency surgery the night before Nxt Stand & Deliver.
The fact that she fought through it all and still managed to perform speaks volumes about her toughness. No matter what, Jade deserves a ton of respect for pushing forward despite everything working against her. She’s a true warrior, and her story is one of strength in the face of adversity.

One of the key elements of WWE is that they believe in their homegrown talents. Talking about homegrown talents, it is their developmental territory that is popular as the Nxt. Under the supervision of Shawn Michaels, WWE has dug out some fine superstars in recent times, namely Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair and the list is endless.
Two such popular names who are being tipped as the next big things in Nxt for now are Myles Borne and Stephanie Vaquer. Borne is a member of the No Quarter Catch Crew, and despite having his own challenges, he has come out with flying colours. Stephanie Vaquer continues to be the women’s champion in Nxt, which she won after defeating Giulia at Nxt: Roadblock.

WWE has recently let go of a large number of employees, including backstage staff and officials. They have also released some well-known wrestlers like Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and many others from both the main roster and Nxt.
WWE hasn’t explained why they are letting go of so many people, but it seems to be a cost-cutting move. It remains to be seen if they have finished making cuts or if more employees will be let go. Let’s take a look at all the wrestlers WWE has offloaded recently.

A series of wrestlers were just released from WWE. The news of more than 15 Superstars being released came on May 2. The day before, reports first started to surface of company budget cuts surrounding staff members in a non-wrestling capacity. It was reported that at least 10-12 staffers were let go from the company, potentially more. Among them is Christine Lubrano, the former Senior Vice President of Creative Writing Operations.
The following day, reports slowly started to surface that revealed that WWE had started to cut Superstars from the internal roster across all brands. Individual names - many of whom would confirm their releases on social media - were reported upon throughout the day. This is the updated full list of WWE Superstars released on May 2, 2025, and in the following days:

Stephanie Vaquer has become the toast of the town. She has been promoted heavily by the WWE and made her first main roster appearance at this week’s Raw after WrestleMania. Vaquer was one of the biggest acquisitions made by the company last year. Nine months later, she became the first Nxt double champion and is poised to be one of the future stars of the women’s division.
Vaquer’s road to the WWE has been pretty long. She traversed continents and faced numerous opponents before she came to Nxt. From Cmll to Aew, wrestling fans have seen her grow and become one of the best women wrestlers in the world.
Stephanie Vaquer faced a hard road to achieve her dreams
Stephanie Vaquer was born on 29 March 1993 in San Fernando, Colchagua Province, Chile, to Héctor Vaquer Alvera and Gladys González Soto. She was a WWE fan growing up and adored Rey Mysterio.

Cm Punk has been an evolutionary force in WWE. Whether in his early days or in the current ones, the involvement of Cm Punk brings out a massive craze in the fans and whatsoever rivalries he fights, it has been a glory to watch. Off late, he has been on a battle path with Seth Rollins and the feud simply keeps on garnering traction.
Punk’s journey in the WWE has been a long one and when he returned to the squared circle in Survivor Series: War Games 2023, there were quite a few unhappy faces. Seth Rollins didn’t like his return and he had found support in the form of Drew McIntyre who stormed off the building on that very night.

In the middle of the match, Nxt’s Cora Jade makes her way to ringside and hands Slamovich an envelope.

Shotzi is officially the No. 1 Contender to Fallon Henley’s title after the Fatal Influence star interfered and cost Stephanie Vaquer in the matchup. Jacy Jayne ran down to the ring where the two Superstars battled, and in the chaos Henley cracked Vaquer with the title, allowing an unaware Shotzi to roll up Vaquer and earn the victory.

The Beautiful Madness is officially on top of the Nxt Women’s division as Giulia defeated Roxanne Perez to become Nxt Women’s Champion. Perez dominated the early goings by targeting the challengers limbs, bending them back in excruciating pain. The Prodigy became increasingly frustrated by her inability to put Giulia away, and that anger didn’t serve her well as she miscalculated and was tossed off the top rope with a huge Double Underhook Superplex. The veteran Vaquer starred early, using her signature offense to ground and frustrate her opponent, but the wily Jade used a huge codebreaker to the back to gain control. The two Superstars traded huge blows, but the combination offense of Vaquer was too much, as she hit a devastating neckbreaker to pick up the win and earn some momentum for 2025.

The Young Og proved he’s much more than just being bouncy as he took down Wes Lee in an incredible one-on-one match. Lee nearly had the match won but his underhanded tactics were spotted by the referee as he tried to put his feet on the ropes for leverage. The Cardiac Kid followed that up with a Cardiac Kick, but not even that was enough to keep his opponent down. It is best known for being WWE's third brand, but tonight, Nxt paid tribute to Ecw as they took over the famous 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pa. The night was filled with cameos from Ecw staples like The Dudley Boyz, Dawn Marie, and Rhyno, and was opened by Nxt's first hardcore match between Jaida Parker and Lola Vice. Wes Lee would regret assaulting Rob Van Dam with a steel chair before his match with Je'von Evans, as Rvd then headed to ringside to distract Lee and enable Evans to get the win.

WWE’s Nxt premiere on The CW was memorable for many reasons. The historic show saw the return of Cora Jade after tearing her Acl, McL, and meniscus at the start of 2024 during a live event. In a surprising turn, Jade helped former friend turned rival Roxanne Perez retain the Nxt Women’s Championship. Now the 23-year-old is set to have her first match back in more than nine months at Halloween Havoc. She’ll team with Perez to take on the international superstars Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer. Lee and Bate squared off in the spirit of competition as both Superstars have been allies to one another in recent months, but it began to turn when neither of them could trust the actions of Ali who began conducting both quick and slow counts. Bate came close on several occasions to winning the title, but Lee’s championship mettle was too great as a well-timed and well-placed Kardiak Kick ended the contest and allowed the champion to retain.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Malik Blade & Edris Enofé def.

Match #1: Wes Lee, Tyler Bate & Mustafa Ali def. Schism The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The mystifying Schism was no match for the combined forces of Mustafa Ali, Tyler Bate, and the Nxt North American Champion, Wes Lee. The camaraderie of Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, & Jagger Reid was on point to begin the match as they flexed their collective muscles to keep their opponents down and off-balance. The action broke down and it caused the official to miss Bate tagging into the match, but Gacy’s pinfall on Lee was broken up by a second official recognizing the error. Lee, Bate, and Ali used the confusion to their advantage and defeated Schism to put this terrible ordeal behind them.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5 Match #2: Thea Hail def.

Match #1: Ava, Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid def. Ivy Nile, Julius Creed & Brutus Creed The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Despite an incredible showing from Diamond Mine, the villainous Schism snuck out with a win in Six-Person Tag Team action. Early shows of strength from Diamond Mine were countered by sneaky tactics of Schism and when the action broke down, it favored the terrifying trio. Ivy Nile locked in a Dragon Sleeper on Ava, but Jagger Reid interfered, and the distraction caused the referee to not see Ava hit Nile with the signature mask of Schism and the sequence spelled doom for Diamond Mine.

Match #1: Weaponized Steel Cage Match – Gigi Dolin def. Jacy Jayne The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Gigi Dolin exorcised the demon that is Jacy Jayne as she defeated her tag team partner inside a Weaponized Steel Cage Match. Before the match could even begin, Jayne attacked Dolin and brutalized her on the outside before tossing her into the ring through the open door. The two former members of Toxic Attraction used a bevy of dangerous weapons including belts, chains, thorn-wrapped bats, trash cans, and even the cage itself. After Jayne set up a table, the two Superstars scaled the cage and found themselves precariously placed high above the ring. Suddenly, Dolin found her footing and launched Jayne through the...

Match #1: Nxt Women’s Championship Tournament – Cora Jade def. Fallon Henley The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Generation of Jade is one step closer to a reality as Cora Jade punched her ticket to the semi finals of the Nxt Women’s Championship Tournament with a win over Fallon Henley. The matchup was hotly contested as both Superstars looked to prove themselves worthy, but a crafty game plan by Jade proved to be the difference. Nxt’s Resident Mean Girl made it a point to attack Henley’s knees, and it ended up paying off. As the match continued after back and forth action, Henley nearly had Jade beaten, but her knee was too compromised to make the cover in time. Before she could put Jade away,...

Match #1: Trunk Match – The Family def. Pretty Deadly The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo sent Elton Prince & Kit Wilson swimming with the fishes as The Family took out Pretty Deadly in the first-ever Trunk Match. The Yes Boys came out firing, trying to use the weapons that D’Angelo & Stacks brought to the ring, but The Family managed to isolate and brutalize Prince with sublime tag team maneuvers. D’Angelo & Stacks used all the weaponry to their advantage, including use some well-placed surfboards and kiddie pools to humiliate Pretty Deadly. Amongst the carnage, Prince & Wilson regained some momentum and gave The Family a taste of their own medicine, even hitting Spilled Milk on the outside.
