Quotes

  • [on his wife Barbara being among the victims in the 9/11 attacks]: Barbara's was the first face that went up on television screens to the American people because people knew who Barbara was.
  • [on the last time he spoke to his wife Barbara] She called me from the airplane. Somehow she got through. I realized that if she was on the phone, she was alive. But when I spoke with her, she told me that her plane had been hijacked. We talked for a minute or two, and then the line went dead. A couple of minutes later, she was able to get through for a second time, and we spoke for another minute or so and the connection went dead the second time.
