Dorette made her debut at the tender age of six, acting and singing in
the musical production of 'Gigi', followed by Pieter Fourie's theatre
production 'Die Joiner' and David Matheson's 'The sound of Music' as
Brigitta. She worked on radio dramas and various dubbing for South
African Television since 1980. It was in 1989 that Dorette made her
debut in film, playing the young Jane in
Circles in a Forest (1989),
directed by 'Regardt van der Bergh'.
Studying musical theatre, being at Ballet school and earning a Drama degree, her career was filled with many obstacles and injuries that made her the strong, determined personality she is today.
Dorette Potgieter is a known South African actor and celebrity with a CV that range from film, television and theatre since the 80's. She has worked with local and international directors and became a household name in 1997 with her role in Egoli as Susan Bosman. Some lead parts in a television series include Vloeksteen, Soutmansland, Villa Rosa, Hard Copy, Plek van die Vleisvreeters, Rhythm City, and she was very successful as the talk show host for Glitterati on DSTV, kykNet. On the international market she has worked for Canadian, German, French and UK broadcasters.
As a Producer for stage as well as music production for film and television since 2006, she's now developing, co-producing and presenting travel reality television.
