The upcoming Netflix movie adaptation of presenter and author Richard Osmans The Thursday Murder Club has recently played host to a surprise guest, who spent time with the productions cast and crew. Producer Steven Spielberg visited the set, pictured with a select few of the highly-anticipated adaptations famous faces. Spielberg stood alongside Celia Imrie, Ben Kingsley, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Osman himself, and director Chris Columbus. Columbus is known for previous projects such as 1990s Home Alone and 1993s Mrs Doubtfire.

Richard Osman has joked that he felt like a competition winner after Steven Spielberg visited the set of Netflix feature The Thursday Murder Club.

Amblin is producing the adaptation of Osman’s bestselling series of murder mystery novels, and the project has assembled a stacked cast.

Spielberg and Osman were pictured with Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, who star as friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun, but find themselves caught in a real case.

Other cast includes David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Richard E. Grant, Tom Ellis, Geoff Bell, Paul Freeman, Sarah Niles, and Ingrid Oliver.

Filming got underway in June on the buzzy crime-comedy from writer-director Chris Columbus. Producers are Jennifer Todd and Columbus.

Watch out Knives Out 3! Another Netflix murder mystery film, The Thursday Murder Club, is in the works from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and Netflix, based on a book by BBC game show host and British TV presenter Richard Osman.

The cast was stacked from the start, and production on the film was set to start in June of 2024. Osman confirmed the news of the film’s development on his podcast The Rest Is Entertainment in April 2024.
