‘Silence’ Recap: What Happened In The First Zee5 Film?
Image
Zee5’s Silence… Can You Hear It? is an investigative drama film about the death of a young girl who was the daughter of a retired justice. Crime thrillers are a rage in the Ott space, and there are multiple films and television shows in the genre that are either brilliant or plain bad. There was no reason stated or understood as to why the movie was titled Silence… Can You Hear It? because it doesn’t seem to bear any relevance with the actual content of the movie.

Silence 1 begins with a few young college students trekking at a spot far away from Mumbai. The boys accidentally find the dead body of Pooja Chaudhary. It was obvious she was murdered, and her body was dumped this far away in the hope it would not be discovered by anyone. Pooja Chaudhary was the daughter of a retired justice who was good friends with Kavita Khanna.

1000-Lb. Sisters: What We Know About Jerry Sykes' Ex-Wife Kia
Image
Tammy Slaton's relationship with Jerry Sykes was marred by his marriage to Kia, who felt betrayed by both parties. Jerry's ex-wife, Kia, faced public humiliation over her husband's infidelity and had to explain it to their seven children. Kia lives as a stay-at-home parent with her children in North Carolina, maintaining a low profile after the scandal.

Tammy Slaton's love life on 1000-lb Sisters has largely been unfortunate, and Jerry Sykes' ex-wife, Kia Russell-Rucker Sykes, has also had her share of romantic woes. It's easy to criticize Tammy's taste in men on one of the best reality TV shows, but the worst boyfriend she ever had on the reality show was Jerry Sykes. He didn't keep her motivated on her weight-loss journey, and he was married while dating her. From her relationship with Tammy's ex-boyfriend Jerry Sykes to her personal life, there is plenty to learn about Jerry's ex-wife,...

‘Ishura’ Episode 6 Recap And Ending Explained: Did Dakai Kill Lana?
Image
Now that we had seen most of the candidates for the Hero of Heroes competition, Ishura had the pressure of moving the story forward and showing us how the characters were connected. The sixth episode of Ishura moves the needle forward in this direction. The characters from the very first episode, who had been hidden in the background up until now, were shown to have reached Aureatia. Yuno and Soujirou’s arc is moved forward, but only for a little while. Surprisingly, it is Regnejee and Curte’s story that turns out to be most interesting and gets connected later to Elia and Kia’s journey. Thus, we see Aureatia and Lithia preparing for the imminent war as the different groups belonging to different kingdoms collide, which is why the episode is aptly titled Gathering of Factions.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match's Most Brutal Deaths, Ranked
Image
The following contains spoilers for Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, now available for 4K Uhd, Blu-ray, and digital HD.

When it comes to the Mortal Kombat franchise, fans adore the swath of brutal deaths that occur. The property's known for its iconic Fatalities, after all, although it's a bit tricky for the movies as they don't ever want to end up in Nc-17 territory. The animated medium, though, is the perfect setting to pull them off.

It's why the Mortal Kombat Legends universe is a hit, as gamers and loyalists get to see gory, unforgiving scenes with signature heroes and villains. And make no mistake, Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match has a ton of merciless kills that reiterate Warner Bros. Animation and NetherRealm Studios aren't going to be letting up anytime soon. With that in mind, let's break down Cage Match's bloodiest finales and the deft cuts they pay to the game.

Mortal Kombat: Cage Match Misses Out on Netherrealm's True Potential
Image
Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match deeply explored Johnny Cage's story at the cost of another powerful realm. The Netherrealm and the enemies that exist within, like Shinnok, failed to reach the terrifying heights established in other continuities. Though Ashrah and the Netherrealm weren't treated perfectly in Cage Match, there's still room for growth in other stories.

The following contains spoilers for Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, now available for 4K Uhd, Blu-ray, and digital HD.

As Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match unfolds, fans are privy to the backstory of Johnny Cage. Johnny's one of the franchise's most sacrosanct characters, ergo why the new Mk movie cast Karl Urban in the role, reconnecting loyalists to someone they clamored for again. In addition, the MK1 reboot game brought Johnny back to help the Fire God in Liu Kang, doubling down on how much Ed Boon and Co. enjoy this cocky, failed actor fighting evil.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match's Plot Holes and Biggest Mysteries
Image
The Mortal Kombat Legends series expands the storytelling in the Mortal Kombat Universe, exploring other dimensions like the Netherrealm. The new film, Cage Match, has plot flaws and unexplained mysteries, such as the inconsistent handling of a crucial map and the lack of seduction by the main antagonist. The film raises questions about why Raiden didn't intervene, why the cult blamed the White Lotus, and why the main character, Johnny, has no knowledge of his lineage or Shinnok. The narrative feels disjointed and revises the established story.

The following contains spoilers for Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, now available for 4K Uhd, Blu-ray, and digital HD.

In the Mortal Kombat Universe, one of the things fans gravitate toward most is the evolution of the storytelling. Now, thanks to games such as the MK1 reboot, it's the lore is much richer and more expansive. The world doesn't just focus on Shang...

‘Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Featuring the voices of: Joel McHale, Jennifer Grey, Phil Lamarr, Grey Griffin, Kelly Hu, Gilbert Gottfried, Robin Atkin Downes | Written by Jeremy Adams | Directed by Ethan Spaulding

For the latest instalment in its animated franchise, Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, Warner Bros. takes us back to Los Angeles in the 80s where Johnny Cage, a C list action hero with an A list ego, is about to get his big break. Or was, until his co-star Jennifer Grey doesn’t show up for filming.

Johnny and his nerdy assistant Brian go over to her mansion to convince her to return to the set. As they drive, Johnny relates a Karate Kid like story of how he got into the martial arts and ended up in Hollywood. But once he gets to Jennifer’s house, he finds himself in the midst of a fight between Kia and Ashrah.

Fittingly, director Ethan...

"Oh, I Remember This" - Mortal Kombat 1 Review
Image
Mortal Kombat 1 is a comic book movie set in the Warner Bros. Cinematic Universe based on the fighting game series Mortal Kombat. Developed by Netherrealm Studios, Mortal Kombat 1 follows directly from the events of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath and explores the new universe Liu Kang created after gaining control of Kronika's Hourglass. Unfortunately but not unsurprisingly, this new universe ends up being way too similar to the first, and doesn't do much to push the series forward despite being perfectly enjoyable to play.

That isn't to say there aren't good ideas here. The opening hours of Mortal Kombat 1's story mode lets players utilize well-established characters in brand-new situations before slowly funneling them back towards the inevitable "Shang Tsung is evil and Earthrealm's protector is more incompetant than he appears" shtick that's been in use for decades, and until that happens there are moments of genuine creativity on display. Fighting...

7 Underrated Cobra Kai Fighters Who Could Do Surprisingly Well In Season 6's Tournament
Image
Kenny Payne, despite being counted out as a contender, could surprise everyone in the Sekai Taikai since he was Terry Silver's pick. Devon Lee, a less noticed character, could shock audiences with her development, closer friendships, and potential Sekai Taikai win. Demetri Alexopoulos, with his underdog story and similarities to Daniel, could stand out as Cobra Kai's next best fighter in season 6.

The talk surrounding Cobra Kai season 6 is which of the most powerful characters could win the Sekai Taikai—but a few of the more minor ones could surprise us. So far in the Netflix series, a few key characters have stood out. Though the fighter on top changes from season to season, there have been minimal surprises regarding strength. However, if Cobra Kai hopes to throw audiences for a loop, some of the lesser fighters will be genuine contenders in the Sekai Taikai.

Why Kelly Rowland's Controversial Freddy Vs Jason Line Is Still Debated 20 Years Later
Image
Slasher films are known for their one-liners, both the badass and the embarrassing. Dr. Loomis in the "Halloween" series, Freddy Krueger in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series, Ghostface in the numerous "Scream" flicks, Pinhead in the "Hellraiser" films, and just about everything Chucky has ever said throughout his franchise have all birthed quotes as memorable as the characters who say them. In the delightfully silly "Freddy vs Jason," one of the most infamous lines is not spoken by either slasher icon or even the film's final girl, but by the secondary character Kia, played by Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child.

When Kia comes face to face with Freddy Krueger, she doesn't cower in fear -- she mocks him. Freddy Krueger thrives on fear, and by choosing to humiliate him instead, she defangs him quite a bit. She spends much of the movie being mouthy to everyone anyway, so...

‘Freddy vs. Jason’ 20 Years Later – The Ultimate Horror Battle Still Satisfies After All These Years
Image
I was somewhat of a late bloomer when it came to my exposure to horror. I lacked the cool older relative or friend that seems to serve as a customary gateway for many genre fans. I had seen a few horror movies growing up (Child’s Play and Scream each terrified me at different points in my youth), but seeing Freddy vs. Jason at the tender age of 15 is single-handedly responsible for the horror fandom that has consumed my life ever since. Without the movie — which hit theaters 20 years ago today — I very likely wouldn’t be writing for Bloody Disgusting now.

I knew of Freddy and Jason through pop culture osmosis, but I hadn’t seen any of the combined 17 films that comprised the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises when Freddy vs. Jason piqued my interest. Even with the advent of Netflix’s DVDs by mail,...

Every Character in Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match
Image
While fans of the Mortal Kombat franchise are looking forward to Mortal Kombat 2 -- yet another live-action movie -- Warner Bros. Animation has a new animated film due soon. It adds to the universe seen in Scorpion's Revenge, Battle of the Realms and Snow Blind, but as a prequel. This is none other than Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match.

Here, Earthrealm becomes embroiled in a supernatural war. This time, it's not a tournament on an island but a cult that's threatening the very fabric of reality. Interestingly, Cage Match is going to be using a mix of big names and obscure characters, so let's discuss who'll be involved in Cage's nostalgic origin story.

‘Kitti Katz’ Animated Series on Netflix: Vigilant Cat-Girls Kicking Ass
Kitti Katz is another Netflix animated series, this time for teenagers that, with a Catwoman in High School style (as strange as this may sound) will try to win the hearts of the youngest.

We warn you that this is not exactly Disney, and the series must be taken with the perspective of having all the time in the world: it does not stand out for its animation nor the characters come “alive” thanks to the computer, it is more a series that aims to amuse and, mixing youth with new-fangled superheroes, give us entertainment in small pills of twenty minutes.

Which is not bad either.

Kitti Katz (2023)

A simple series, very much in line with the latest animated installments of the streaming network that, without standing out in the technical aspect, comes to, yes, fatten a very important catalog at the production level. And the truth is that these series count a lot,...

All American Season 5 Episode 14 Review: Make Me Proud
Jordan
It was Jordan's turn to determine how to handle life post-Billy.

And he didn't do too badly, all things considered, on All American Season 5 Episode 14.

The All American brain trust takes an intriguing approach to how the main characters process Billy's death.

That started with recovering addict Olivia on the brink on All American Season 5 Episode 13.

Now that Olivia has her life more together, it is Jordan's chance at the spotlight.

Jordan settled on home repairs as his coping mechanism, even though he's shown zero mechanical abilities.

He found one of Billy's old to-do lists and took it as a sign. Now that he's the man of the house, he would take care of those repairs. Unfortunately, the necessary skills didn't come along with that title.

It's a shame that Laura was busy dealing with her grief. She could have saved Jordan so much time if she had explained...

How the 2022 Emmys Almost (Almost!) Gave Acceptance Speeches Their Proper Due
Image
The moment Sheryl Lee Ralph opened her mouth and let loose the first jaw-dropping note of Dianne Reeves’ “Endangered Species,” it was an Emmys speech for the ages. Quaking with emotion and palpably overcome, Ralph’s acceptance for her best supporting actress trophy was as impassioned as it was memorable — especially, perhaps, because she didn’t have to recite a litany of names before the timer ran out. Instead, a simple ticker of people Ralph wished to mention scrolled by in a chyron as she lifted her Emmy to the sky in triumph.

With most nominees appearing to submit names ahead of time in case they should win, the most memorable speeches of the night were freer to go off-script and embrace their moment, in the moment. After Ralph’s gorgeous display of joy, Lizzo’s surprise reality series win was capped with a tearful speech that didn’t have...
