Biography

Déo Cardoso is a Brazilian-American film writer-director. In 2024, his debut feature "Cabeça de Nêgo" (A Bruddah's Mind) won Jury and Public Award at the 41th Rencontre du Cinema in France. The film also won Best Brazilian film of 2021, by Brazilian Critics Association Award (Abraccine), and São Paulo Art Critics Association Award (APCA). Cardoso also co-wrote the TV series "Rota 66" (2021) and co-directed the 1st Season of the series "Encantado's" (2022), both for Globo Studios-Brazil and its streaming platform Globoplay. Déo Cardoso is developing two feature films: the social-drama "Os Olhos do Mar" (The Ocean's Eyes), and the soccer comedy "Bolada" (Ballin') to be released in late 2025.
