  • Since 2011, member of the jury of the famous "Prix Théophraste Renaudot". He resigned in March 2020 from that jury in the wake of the Gabriel Matzneff affair.
  • In 2011, he dedicated the book "Oliver" to his twin brother who died accidentally at the age of 6.
  • His first novel, "La chute de cheval", concerns his father, the publisher Philippe Garcin, who died at the age of 45 after a horse fall.
  • Since 1989, he is the animator of "Le Masque et la Plume", the oldest and most famous emission of the French radio devoted to the cinema, the theater and the literature.
  • Winner on 28 January 2020 of the prix des Deux Magots for "le Dernier hiver du Cid" on the last season of his father in law actor Gérard Philipe who died on25 November1959 of liver cancer.
