It’s official! A new season of comedy-horror series “Wreck” is on the way, and Bloody Disgusting has exclusive first look images that tease new slaying grounds and a killer new look for season one’s cruise ship mascot-turned-killer, Quacky the Duck.

Created and written by Ryan J. Brown, “Wreck” leaves treacherous international waters behind for a wellness festival in series two as the mysteries behind the corrupt Velorum deepens.

Hulu’s latest horror series, Wreck, has continued one of the genre’s best modern changes with how it portrays its main characters. Horror and LGBTQ+ representation have had something of dicey history over the years, with much of the genre leaning on conscious and subconscious bias against the community. But recent media has started to delve into the potential of horror and queerness without relying on old, prejudiced tropes, refreshing horror as a genre with projects such as They/Them and now, Wreck. The ability to use LGBTQ+ themes positively to enliven the genre is exciting and offers a lot of potential for the future.

Hulu has bought U.S. rights to British comedy horror Wreck.

The six-part series comes from Euston Films (Dublin Murders) and emerging British writer Ryan J. Brown. It launch on Hulu on March 1 following a deal with distributor Fremantle.

Wreck is billed as “a tense thriller, mixing comedy with a slice of slasher, set aboard a mega cruise ship.”

It follows 19-year-old new recruit Jamie, as he infiltrates a 1,000-strong crew in a desperate race to find his missing sister, who worked on the same ship but vanished mid-charter. An overworked and underpaid crew live lives of partying and excess and they remain oblivious to bloodthirsty murders taking place on board.

Last year, we shared the news that Fremantle’s Euston Films is set to produce a six-part horror comedy series called Wrecked for BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. Euston’s Noemi Spanos and BBC’s Tommy Bulfin executive produced the show, which has been written by Ryan J. Brown – who said he “wanted to create a piece of genre entertainment that had the savvy teen sharpness of Scream, the unsettling atmosphere of The Shining and the strange upstairs, downstairs mythology of The Cabin in the Woods.” Wrecked is now set to premiere at London’s Fright Fest on August 26th (the show will launch on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer later this autumn), and in anticipation of the premiere a batch of images from the show have arrived online… images that seem to reveal that the killer wears a duck costume and is called Quacky! Described as a “tense thriller” set aboard a cruise ship, the six-episode series is both comic with a “slice of slasher.” It is currently in production in Northern Ireland.

Kennedy stars as Jamie, who infiltrates a cruise ship called The Sacramentum, in a bid to find his sister, who has gone missing after working aboard the ship on a previous tour.

As Jamie is initiated into the 3,000-strong crew he meets the different factions it’s comprised of, from the theater workers to the “mafias” and low-paid staff, and their life of partying and excess. Meanwhile a series of bloodthirsty murders are taking place on board, which Jamie is determined to uncover.

Joining Kennedy and Rowan, are Thaddea Graham (“The Irregulars”) as Vivian, Harriet Webb (“I May Destroy You”) as Karen and Jodie Tyack (“The Window”) as Pippa.
