She was Graduated from Kôjimachi Elementary School (Chiyoda-ku,Tokyo), and Shoei Girls' Junior and Senior High School. She had passed the Takarazuka Revue exam - is a Japanese all-female musical theatre troupe based in Takarazuka, Hyôgo Prefecture, Japan. Women play all roles in lavish, Broadway-style productions of Western-style musicals and stories adapted from films, novels, shôjo manga, and Japanese folktales - but she declined it and entered the Toho College of Music, after which she made her debut as an actress. Her real name is Kyoko Kawaguchi, and she appeared in NHK 's morning drama series "Ichibanboshi", "Otei-chan" , and Fuji TV 's "Gashintare". She also appeared in a Taiga drama. She made her major debut as a jazz vocalist in 1982, for her excellent proportions and her decadent vibe. At that time, she was said to be "a big newcomer in the jazz world for the first time in a while". She later released her masterpiece "The Man I Love" won the hit award and the work award, recorded a big hit that entered the top ten (oricon album chart at that time), and won a gold disc.

In 1987, she married with Masao Tahara, her manager since her debut.

In 1994, she showed full-nude in a photo book, and in 1996, she played a wet scene with Shingo Tsurumi and Ren Ôsugi for V-cinema starring work.

In 2001, she directed and wrote the screenplay for the movie " Mermaid: The Girl Who Came from the Sea".

In September 2009, she made her debut with the adult image video work (AIV) "Affair jyoji", which differs from AV (a pseudo-work that does not have any actual acts in the sex scene like V cinema). It became a blockbuster with more than 40,000 copies sold, and the AIV debut of a famous active jazz singer surprised the world.

In 2011, Kei published the novel "Intimacy" from Tokuma Shoten.

In 2015, Onna sagi-shi to bijin singer: O-atsui no wa dotchi? (2015) (directed by Sachi Hamano) will be released as the first movie to be released in theaters.

In 2017, Fuji TV's "The Non-Fiction" camera covered the couple closely for 9 months for the first time, and recorded a high audience rating of 4.7% (Kanto area video research), which was unusual for a documentary program.

In March 2019, on the 10th anniversary of her adult image DVD debut, she transferred from Alice JAPAN (Japan Home Video) to SOD Create (Soft On Demand).

In March 2022, she celebrated her 40th anniversary as a singer.
