Nikolai Zhukov was a pretty conflicted man. A man divided between duty, loyalty, and family. To be honest, we don’t know much about him, right? In season 2, he was introduced as an ex-Kgb agent who was keeping a watch on our hero Kleo Straub. [Spoiler Alert] As the series progressed, we got to know more and more about him. Back in the day, Nikolai was a Soviet patriot and devoted communist who resented the ideas of the West. He wanted to protect his country and bring glory to his nation at all costs. Nikolai was married to Otto Straub’s only daughter, Brigitte. I believe anyone who has watched the two seasons of Kleo knows who Otto is and what ideals he believes in. He wanted his daughter to marry someone who would never betray his country, and perhaps Nikolai seemed like a perfect fit.
