After putting on a Broadway show last season, “Only Murders in the Building” raised the creative bar in Season 4 with a love letter to Hollywood film—and with it came a star-studded ensemble.
The season finds Paramount Pictures filming a movie adaptation of the podcast featuring Steve Martin’s Charles-Haden Savage, Martin Short’s Oliver Putnam and Selena Gomez’s Mabel Mora, with that trio portrayed on screen by Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis and Eva Longoria.
“The first conversation was, what is the movie version going to be like? Where is the humor going to come from? And obviously casting those people was hugely important to set the joke up,” casting director Tiffany Little Canfield said. “There were a couple of iterations. Like, is it funny to have people in their 40s for the guys and then make Mabel a teenager or a child so that the age difference is a

Did Meryl Streep Want To Play Patsy Cline in Sweet Dreams? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Imagine this: Meryl Streep as Patsy Cline. A country queen twist on Meryl the Goat—sounds like a perfect fit, right? But nope. Even Meryl Streep, with her 21 Oscar nominations and legendary status, didn’t land this one. She once told Vanity Fair, “Karel was a friend of mine who I adored, and he was making a film about Patsy Cline, who is a singer I adored.” Two legends, one film, and yet… no Meryl.
Instead, the role went to Jessica Lange, the blonde powerhouse who made Patsy Cline her own in Sweet Dreams. Karel Reisz, the director, decided Jessica would look better in the role. Sure, casting decisions happen. But Meryl wasn’t bitter. She made peace with the loss, swapping potential fame for a cozy stay at Reisz’s house while filming Plenty in England.

The following contains spoilers for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: The JOJOLands, Chapter 21, "Howler Company Impropriety Suspicions," by Hirohiko Araki from Shueisha's Ultra Jump. There’s no one way to tell a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure story and one of the most liberating details about Hirohiko Araki’s magnum opus is that it plays by its own rules. The previous chapter, "Lulu and Bobby Jean, Part 3," was full of success and death. It's only natural to take a second to reflect and cool down after such a chaotic chapter. The JOJOLands Chapter 21, "Howler Company Impropriety Suspicions," does do this to some extent. It's a narrative bridge into much bigger ideas that sets up several story arcs' worth of obstacles.
At the same time, this chapter feels like a bold rebranding that shuffles its deck and is prepared to experiment with its characters and storytelling. "Howler Company Impropriety Suspicions" is a...

Science fiction and anime have traversed a rich history together, with many phenomenal series like Steins; Gate, Dandadan and Dr. Stone continuing a long tradition of exploring elements of science via animation, thanks to Astro Boys storied success back in 1963. While todays audiences might be more familiar with current ongoing series, some old school anime from the 1990s and the early 2000s still hold up as culturally relevant offerings for viewers.
With themes still accessible to todays audiences, and characters with personalities so captivating that theyve practically taken on a life of their own, time means little to these old school gems. From the exploration of trauma in war presented by Neon Genesis Evangelion to the evolution of games for children in Angelic Layer, these anime series and movies still hold up today.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the two-part finale of Teacup, “This is Nowhere” Parts 1 and 2.] As violent and chaotic as Teacup already was throughout its first three weeks’ episodes, it was still a shock to the system to see what became of the Chenoweths and their neighbors in the two-part finale that arrived on Peacock this week. Assassin made its way through the crew rapidly in the last stretch of the series, jumping from Valeria (Diany Rodriguez) to Nicholas (Luciano Leroux) and then on to Meryl (Emilie Bierre), the closest person to Arlo (Caleb Dolden) — who was, of course, inhabited by Assassin’s ultimate target, Harbinger. By the time it made its way into their daughter’s mind, Maggie (Yvonne Strahovski) and James (Scott Speedman) had already resigned themselves to having to drown whoever Assassin was hiding within — with the hopes of reviving them afterward, free and clear of any space visitors within. So when Maggie came face ...

After revealing itself to Nicholas, Assassin jumped bodies again and immediately pushed Valeria over the line of doom. (R.I.P., James’ mistress!) Sadly, we were robbed of any repulsive body horror on this lovely Halloween day (sorry, gore-hounds), but at least we were left with one helluva cliffhanger heading into its tense season closer.

Ian McCulloch’s Teacup takes place at a ranch in rural Georgia that has seemingly been cornered by aliens from outer space. The show focuses on Maggie, her husband James, their children Meryl and Arlo, and James’ mother, Ellen. The chaotic situation brings Ruben Shanley, his wife Valeria, and their son Nicholas to the ranch. Donald Kelly and his wife Claire wind up there too, but the latter ends up falling into the “trap” that’s been laid by the aliens that causes any organic being to die in a very peculiar way where their flesh rots away and their bones grow out like branches. Only Murders in the Building co-creator and showrunner John Hoffman recalled a sweet moment shared with star Meryl Streep, who thanked him for the romantic scenes involving her character and Martin Short’s.
Speaking to Decider ahead of the satirical true crime dramedy’s Season 4 finale, the executive producer recalled a special interaction in the middle of actress Loretta’s (Streep) debut on the show in Season 3.
“I remember one night we were shooting on the ferry in Episode 5 of Season 3. We shot until about 2 in the morning on the most gorgeous night in Manhattan,” he recalled. “I got off to gangplank there and Meryl was waiting and she had tears in her eyes and she said, ‘I just had to wait here for you to get off the boat to say thank you.’ And I was like, ‘What?’ and she said, ‘I just got to play a scene I...

The fifth and sixth episodes of Peacock's new Stephen King-approved horror series Teacup finally started to fill in some gaps in the overarching narrative as it hurtles towards what promises to be a thrilling conclusion. With just two episodes left in the limited series' short season, the questions that have slowly been piling up since the gruesome ending to episode 2 finally got some answers in the form of a long flashback sequence centered around the mysterious man in the mask, McNab, and the young man who trapped James in the Navarros' basement, Travis.
The flashback provided some much-needed clarification about the origins of the two conflicting entities that jump from person to person on the Chenoweth Farm. Harbinger is the name given to the seemingly good entity that is inhabiting Arlo's young mind, while his more murderous counterpart is referred to as Assassin. At the end of Teacup...

While Hoffman did not confirm any romantic rumors, he did share that the famous pair get along famously and have “magic” together. “You know, it is one of the most unexpected turns but I remember thinking like, ‘God,’” the show’s executive producer and writer tells Decider. “As I got to know Meryl, as I’ve known Marty, and as I watched the two of them work together in Season 3, I just — it was unbelievable. We were laughing our heads off and they just delighted in each other onscreen, off-screen in every way.” Hoffman also detailed a...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Teacup episodes 1-4!
Peacock's new Stephen King-endorsed horror television series Teacup has unfolded a mystery at breakneck speed, and introduced far more questions than answers by the end of episode 4. The basic premise of the show was established by the end of Teacup episode 2, while episodes 3 and 4 introduced some new players into the isolated farm setting, each with questionable intent. So far Teacup has built tension with distrust and paranoia, both due to the invisible threat beyond the blue line and due to the pre-existing relationships between the neighbors trapped on the Chenoweth farm in Georgia.
Episodes 3 and 4 of Teacup saw Meryl and Nicholas become more familiar with the entity that inhabits Arlo's mind, known as "Harbinger" due to his constant warnings. Harbinger might have introduced a way for everyone trapped on the Chenoweth farm to cross the blue line safely, but its dangerous...

When Stephen King beams about a new horror project, hardened genre fans take note. On October 10, 2024, the preeminent horror scribe took to X and professed his adoration for Teacup, a Peacock original horror series that premiered the same day. With two episodes released one week apart, the 8-episode TV event has not resonated as well among critics and general horror fans as with King.
Based on the 1988 novel Stinger by Robert McCammon, Teacup concerns a band of neighbors forced to cooperate and find a means of survival when a fatal force marauds their rural Georgia landscape. Although Stephen King has voiced a high opinion of the show, Teacup has been criticized as little more than an ersatz Walking Dead meets The Crazies mashup that neither terrifies nor adds much to the genre.

Episodes 3 and 4 of Teacup help us put the pieces of the puzzle in place. The previous episodes revealed that a spirit/alien being had entered Arlo after he got lost in the forest. The spirit/alien spoke a foreign language, and he seemed to have a plan to protect Arlo and his family. But was the alien good or evil? In the new episode, Arlo told his sister, Meryl, and her friend, Nicholas, that the creature living inside him was good and did not mean any harm to him or his family. The creature offered to help Arlo and his family find a cure that could help them cross the line drawn by the stranger in the mask.
Spoiler Alert
Who Was Harbinger?
In Teacup episode 3, Arlo introduced his sister to the alien living in him. Arlo called him Harbinger, and according to the creature, something big and disastrous was coming.

Putting on a Broadway musical is no easy feat. But “Only Murders in the Building” production designer Patrick Howe faced that challenge in the Hulu comedy and murder mystery series’ Season 3, in which the characters write and
stage an original musical titled Death Rattle Dazzle.
“It’s challenging when designing a show from scratch, especially
when all the departments have to make up everything almost at the same time with not a lot of information to go on,” said Howe, who came to the job
with experience in theater design.
“Normally, designers are inspired by a score and lyrics and certainly a book of a musical—from those elements we can get inspiration and make a lot of design choices. But the book [for Death Rattle Dazzle] was never going to exist. I had to make the designs before I was ever going to hear any music or lyrics. We were all in the same boat.

Only Murders in the Building creator John Hoffman shared the hilariously bizarre details of how Meryl Streep joined the cast of Hulu's hit crime comedy. Hoffman initially pitched Streep as "the perfect person to play" the part of Loretta Durkin, an actress who could enter an audition and leave the casting directors "thunderstruck" by her talent and her very presence. Not unlike Streep herself.
Only Murders in the Building EP's Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal didn't believe that Hoffman could pull off such a coup, especially considering Streep is incredibly in demand and has more awards than pretty much any other living actor or actress. In fact, their response when Hoffman shared his belief that she'd be perfect for the role was, Good luck with that, John. Hoffman explained everything in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation, the nonprofit professional development and charitable arm of Hollywood’s largest union of actors, is opening the doors on Monday to its brand new Los Angeles headquarters, the Meryl Streep Center for Performing Artists.
The Center is located in the sprawling, stunning penthouse space of the building at 5757 Wilshire Blvd., a few floors above where the foundation used to be based, which was aquired after another business vacated the space during the pandemic. This cutting-edge facility will be dedicated to supporting a wide array of programs that will help SAG-AFTRA artists learn from experts, refine their skills and advance their careers. In-person gatherings that were on pause during the foundation’s move — such as Conversations, which features career-retrospective interviews with prominent actors — will resume in the new space, which will also house the foundation’s assistance programs and offices.

Kevin Bacon revealed in a recent interview with Vanity Fair that he commissioned facial prosthetics so he could try going out in public without being noticed as an iconic actor. As the actor said: “I’m not complaining, but I have a face that’s pretty recognizable. Putting my hat and glasses on is only going to work to a certain extent.”
“I went to a special effects makeup artist, had consultations, and asked him to make me a prosthetic disguise,” Bacon continued, saying he got fake teeth and a slightly different nose made so that he could test out what it would be like not to be Kevin Bacon in public. He went to The Grove in Los Angeles and “nobody recognized me,” which the actor didn’t exactly grow to love.
“People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice,” Bacon said. “Nobody said, ‘I love you.

Kevin Bacon announced on “Today” that he will return to the high school where he shot “Footloose” more than four decades ago. The school is Payson High School in Payson, Utah, and its students have spent the last several months launching a social media campaign (#BaconToPayson) to get Bacon to visit on prom day. The students re-created scenes from the movie on TikTok, learned the iconic “Footloose” dance and more all in hopes of getting Bacon’s attention. And it worked.
“I have been so impressed with everything that’s been going on there with this crazy idea to get me to come back,” Bacon said in a video to the students. “I’ve been amazed at the work that all of you have been putting into this, with the musical and the flash mobs and the re-creations.”
“It hasn’t gone unnoticed by me, not to mention the fact that you tied in SixDegrees.
