Thierry Samitier

From his childhood, Thierry Samitier suffered his first tragedy : at the age of seven, his mother became his teacher. it was in the Paris region, in Mantes-la-Jolie, where he grew up between two sisters. With a schoolteacher mother and an overbearing father, Thierry grew up to be a shy, introverted, borderline autistic teenager. He took refuge in music : clarinet, piano, guitar and poetry : Prévert, Brel, Brassens, Bob Marley, Janis Joplin. At 18, he wanted to become a clarinetist and enrolled at the Conservatoire National de Region Versailles. But he had to put his career on hold due to hearing loss. He then began studying economics and earned a doctorate in economics from the University of Paris II. He became an economist at Rexecode after completing his military service in the Air Force. But his office is too small and Thierry does not see himself growing old in front of numbers. He writes songs with Claude Lemesle, the author of Joe Dassin, and his songs become sketches, because Thierry prefers to laugh at his wounds rather than cultivate them. So he built a first one-man show based on a clumsy, quirky, introverted character, who can recall the character of Peter Sellers. He was very quickly spotted but the Francophone Comedy Festival and won first prizes : Tournon-sur-Rhône , Super Devoluy , Rocherfort, Rocquencourt, Bierge (Belgium) , Juste pour Rire (Quebec) Sebastien's shows on TF1 and France 2 TV, he was spotted by a producer who presented his show at he Comédie de Paris. His one-man show was titled : " I would die for You, if I Had the Means". At the Comédie de Paris, he was spotted by Kader Aoun , who brought him to CANAL+ TV to guest-host the show Nulle Part Ailleurs. Still in his quirky and naive character, he gave advice to guests. For exempla to John Mac Enroe : " You have a god forehand, but you lack discipline in your footwork". I had this flaw when was a junior." For the New year 2000 party, Thierry performed his first English-language sketches at the Ritz Hotel in London, featuring a Brazilian dancer and an Elvis Presley impersonator. He then wrote two comedies : " Shut up, I love you." a feminist romantic theatrical comedy with two characters, and "Concessions", a play with three chalets about ambivalence in professional relationships. "Shut up, I love you " was produced at the Comédie de Paris by Claude François and the Gipsy King producer, Claude Martinez. The latter installed it at the Comédie de Paris and a the Avignon Theatre Festival. The play was published by " L'Oeil du prince" (Art et Comédie). "Concessions" was performed at Claude Lelouch's theatre : Cinné 13. It won the prize for best comedy at the Lyon festival : La quenelle d'or. The play is being performed by students from Cours Florent : a Parisien theatre school. When he falls in love with a director, a universe, a writing style, Thierry locks himself in his room or 3 days and watches the entire filmography : Forman , Coppola, Prévert, Scorcese, Allen, Jacques Audiard etc.. In 2006, Thierry wrote, directed and stared in his first short film : "Hold up" produced by France 2-TV and the production company : L Boite . It was broadcast on the show "Histoire Courte" on France 2 . "Hold Up" is selected at the Brooklyn Film Festival (United States), Rouyn Noranda (Canada) ,Prix de Cour in Lausanne ( Switzerland), Ciné sans filet (France), DaKino ( Bucharest) , and Schenninger Short Film Festival ( Germany). Film producers began to take an interest in him and gave him a role in "Madame Irma", a film by and with Didier Bourdon (Les Inconnus), "Hello Goodbye" by Graham Guit with Fanny Ardant and "Daddy Cool" by Maxime Govare with Vincent Elbaz. Thierry was then spotted by. the television channel M6-TV, which offer him a role as an archery instructor in the series " Tong et paréo" broadcast in 2007-2008 on the same channel. And the Alain Kapoff (Kabo film) discovered Thierry's writing and asked hims to be the author of the first French sketches of an adaptation : " Scène de ménage" for M6-Tv, still currently on air in France. He will play in this series the role of Raymond and Huguette's nephew : the retired couple. But very quickly, it was TF1-Tv that called on him to play the role of Aymeric Dubernet Carton in the series "Nos Chers Voisins" which would become the cult series of the First French channel, broadcast every evening after the 8 PM news. It was this series that would make him a popular actor. Alongside his filming, Thierry has a string of roles in plays he didn't write. For example, he starred in "Jupe Obligatoire" at the Théâtre du Gymnasium, where he played an inhibited and award executive in a libertine club. He then became Chantal Ladsou's husband in the play " Nelson" at the Theatre de la Porte Saint Martin, a comedy that would become the hit of the year in Paris. He often leaves for filming in the morning at 6: 00 AM , then he goes straight to the theater to perform, and returns home at midnight. But that's not all!! He finds time to write a column for France Musique Radio's morning show. He called his talk : The Column of the Century. (2016-2017). He then started a new play : Boeing Boeing" at the Daunou Theater near the Opera. He took advantage of the general lockdown in France to write his first novel : "Surprise !" published by Frédéric Deville Editor and his first feature film " Follow" : A classic television presenter confronted with the rise of young influences, audience imperatives based on voyeurism and shamelessness. As son as the lockdown ended, he put on a new play : " Le choc Paris-Marseille", a theatrical comedy with two characters which he performs with Kamel Benaffla. A very funny play about the cultural rivalry between the two leading French cities : "Le choc Paris-Marseille" is performed at the Théâtre de l'Antidote in Marseille, at the Comedie des Sud, at the Avignon estival, etc ... He then wrote his second feature film, "Pare Choc", a road trip featuring a truck driver and a young person with Asperger's syndrome. In his writing, Thierry likes to break down the shells that cover our common birthright : vulnerability. He wrote another theatrical comedy with two characters : "I am yoga" which he performed in the Partouche Casinos, in the provinces, and on Broadway Comedy Club in Paris. A yoga teacher teaches letting go , unconditional openness, and taking off one's armor.. but how can one remain faithful to one's own teachings when faced with a twisted, neurotic person who is as clever as he is naive ? Thierry Samitier is a fervent defender of the animal cause. "Observe any animal, and let it teach you about acceptance, about being completely open to the present.
