[Review] Witness Some of The Most F*cked Up Kills of The Year in The Puppetman
Indie horror frightmaker Brandon Christensen is back again with a supernatural shocker that boasts some of the year’s most brutal moments in horror. With Christensen’s signature style of slick, straight-to-the-point storytelling, the titular Puppetman is an inventive and new villain, akin to urban legends favs The Candyman or The Blair Witch…with one helluva twisted sense of humor.

The Puppetman, imprisoned and awaiting his fate on death row, has consistently professed his innocence, attributing his murderous spree to an ominous power that dominated him. As the narrative unfolds, Michal (portrayed by Alyson Gorske), his daughter, witnesses eerily familiar deaths around her. This sparks doubt about the authenticity of her father’s claims. As the deaths escalate, Michal finds herself burdened with the daunting task of unraveling the enigma of The Puppetman‘s curse.

“A supernatural shocker that boasts some of the year’s most brutal moments in horror.

Starring Michael Paré (Bad Moon), Caryn Richman (The New Gidget), and Alyson Gorske (Amy’s F**k It List), The Puppetman tells the following story: The Puppetman is a convicted killer on death row. ‘Ape vs. Mecha Ape’ Review
Image
Stars: Anna Telfer, Jack Pearson, Iris Svis, Xander Bailey, Tom Arnold, Corbin Timbrook, Lisa Lee | Written and Directed by Marc Gottlieb

Not letting the success of Ape vs Monster go to waste The Asylum is back with Ape vs. Mecha Ape. This time they’ve brought in Marc Gottlieb to write and direct. While it’s only his second feature, the other was Cousin Howard back in 1995, and the first one for The Asylum he’s written several scripts for them including Jungle Run, 2025 Armageddon, and Aquarium of the Dead. Can he kick the franchise into gear after its dismal first film?

Ape vs. Mecha Ape opens with a chemical weapons plant that looks like an old warehouse being attacked by what looks like the giant ape Abraham. A few explosions later we see that it’s actually a giant, well-armed, robot which makes short work of the plant’s security.

‘Ape vs. Mecha Ape’ – The Asylum’s Latest Movie Pits King Kong Up Against Robot King Kong
Image
A sequel to 2021’s Ape vs. Monster, which served as a “mockbuster” take on Godzilla vs. Kong, The Asylum has just unleashed their latest creature feature: Ape vs. Mecha Ape.

Starring Tom Arnold, the kaiju-sized fight film is now available on VOD outlets.

In director Marc Gottlieb‘s Ape vs. Mecha Ape, “Recognizing the destructive power of its captive giant Ape, the military makes its own battle-ready A.I., Mecha Ape. But its first practical test goes horribly wrong, leaving the military no choice but to release the imprisoned giant ape to stop the colossal robot before it destroys downtown Chicago.”

Jack Pearson, Anna Telfer and Xander Bailey also star.

Could be fun, could be terrible. Watch the Ape vs. Mecha Ape trailer below.

‘Aquarium of the Dead’ Review
Image
Stars: Vivica A. Fox, Eva Ceja, D.C. Douglas, Erica Duke, Anthony Jensen, Madeleine Falk, Robert Contrado, Jeffery Thomas Johnson, Brandon Lee W., Anna Telfer, Kim Nielsen, Ash Dadvand, Rishi Arya, Torrey B. Lawrence | Written by Marc Gottlieb, Michael Varrati | Directed by Glenn Miller

It had to happen didn’t it. First we had Zombeavers, then Zoombies and its sequel and now the zombie plague hits sea life with Aquarium of the Dead – the latest undead horror from The Asylum. Of course, given this an Asylum release, the timing couldn’t be more perfect – after all once you’ve seen an Army of the Dead you’re going to want to see an aquarium full of them too right?!

Glenn Miller, director of the aforementioned Zoombies films is back behind the camera for this fishy tale, which comes from a story by Michael Varrati (who also co-wrote the excellent Tales of Poe...

Killer Sea Animals Unleashed! New Trailer for 'Aquarium of the Dead'
Glenn Miller
"Something is up with the animals." The Asylum has just released an official trailer for one of their latest ridiculous B-movie horrors called Aquarium of the Dead, which is arriving direct-to-dvd (because that's the right release for this) in May this year. This is actually a sort-of-sequel to director Glenn Miller's other Asylum zombie animal movies Zoombies and Zoombies 2. Surprise – there is not much of a plot here: a scientific accident causes creatures to become zombies. But I'd rather enjoy this as a revenge tale for all the sea animals captured and thrown into aquariums finally getting back at the asshole humans who put them there. The cast includes Vivica A. Fox, D.C. Douglas, Erica Duke, Eva Ceja, Anthony Jensen, Anna Telfer, Jeffery Thomas Johnson, and Rishi Arya. This has zombie sharks, octopus, crabs, fish, and oh yes, a zombie walrus (finally vengeance for Tusk!) and starfish, too. Whatever you do,...
