Biography

    • Derek Braasch was born and raised in South Holland by his loving parents, Ed and Julie Braasch. He graduated Columbia College in Chicago, IL in 1999 and worked on many features, shorts, and music videos before directing his first short film in 2002, titled "Right in front of your eyes". He went on to direct his first feature, "The Icing" which was released in May 2014.. This film was also assistant directed and produced by his younger brother, Kevin Braasch. This is followed by his 2nd feature the grisly and graphic horror opus "Murder for Pleasure" which was released in May 2015. His third feature,which he helped produced, shoot and acts in titled "Julies Smile", written and directed by Eric Mattson. Derek Braasch and his wife, Nina Trader continue to produce and release many films under their company Cheevies Film Productions. Cheevies just premiered their biggest film to date on October 30 2024. Torture the Flesh was written and directed by Derek Braasch. This graphic and gory film returns then to their roots to their 2nd feature Murder for Pleasure. It starts Joe DeBartolo, Darin Bowman, Myles Valentine and Lynn Lowry. They also are releasing their short film The Ties that Bind written by Nina Trader and directed and shot by Derek Braasch. This film is part of Phil Herman's Unearthed Anthology. Phil Herman has collaborated with Derek Braasch on a handful of films. Projects in the works is I Wish I Knew which is in post and will be released in March. This stars Nina Trader, Jimmy Shay, Michael Holub, and Daryl Ansfeld. It was written and directed by husband and wife team Derek Braasch and Nina Trader. Also, The Clown Dies at Midnight 2: Clown Harder is in preproduction and plan too shoot in Summer of 2025.
