Molly Belle Wright
- Actress
Young actress MOLLY BELLE WRIGHT stars in OMAHA, which had its World Premiere in Dramatic Competition at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim. IndieWire listed Molly as "Sundance Breakout", stating "(she) does the extraordinarily heavy lifting in Cole Webley's debut "Omaha," which sees the young star ably playing both the soul of her broken family (including our perpetual fave John Magaro as her dad) and the mind of the audience itself....as (they) travel through the American West in pursuit of a secret location and a secret mission, it's Wright who guides it, who holds it steady, who breaks our hearts."
Entertainment Weekly included Molly alongside John Lithgow and Joel Edgerton when listing their Top Ten Performances of Sundance and stating "There was no shortage of great child performances at this year's festival, but the one-two punch of John Magaro's simmering desperation and Molly Belle Wright's innocent intelligence in Omaha is on the next level. Unlike many child actors, Wright isn't precocious so much as devastatingly genuine in her peculiar blend of wisdom and naivety. "
Her forthcoming projects include feature film FLAVIA, based on Alan Bradley's bestselling book series about 11-year-old amateur detective Flavia de Luce. Directed by Bharat Nalluri from a screenplay by Susan Coyne, the film stars Wright as the titular character alongside Martin Freeman, Sir Jonathan Pryce, and Toby Jones.
Later this year, Molly co-stars with Aaron Eckhart and Sir Ben Kingsley in DEEP WATER, Renny Harlin's action thriller about a group of international passengers traveling from Los Angeles to Shanghai who are forced to make an emergency landing in shark-infested waters. Her credits also include the upcoming supernatural thriller BLACK BOX (FLIGHT 298), directed by Steven Quale and written by Stephen Susco. Based on the 2102 short film Vessel, written by The Duffer Brothers, BLACK BOX (FLIGHT 298) examines the supernatural events that surround Vero Airlines Flight 298 from New Orleans to Seattle. Wright will also appear in season two of Hulu's Nine Perfect Strangers, starring executive producer Nicole Kidman, Christine Baranski, and Annie Murphy.
Most recently, Molly appeared on screen in the lead role of 'Beth' in the hit holiday film THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, alongside Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, and Lauren Graham, from director Dallas Jenkins.
In 2021, at the age of 7, she became (and still is) the world's youngest TED speaker, working with Australian visionary filmmaker Michael Gracey (THE GREATEST SHOWMAN) and Australia's not-for-profit The Minderoo Foundation to create a talk to help children 'Thrive by Five.' Wright was the most popular TED speaker of 2021, and now has the third most popular talk in recent history, trailing only Elon Musk and Bill Gates. 2023 saw Wright's second high profile public speaking event take place with the support and guidance of UNICEF, as she championed her favorite subject, reading, at El Festival de las Ideas in Puebla, Mexico. Wright delivered her 20-minute, self- penned keynote speech to an audience of 4500 conference attendees, alongside filmmaker James Cameron and psychologist Dr. Jordan B. Peterson.
Wright is passionate about wildlife conservation and is a National Trust ambassador, having led various initiatives to raise significant funds and awareness for the conservation of endangered species, founding and leading Molly's Wildlife Warriors and Conservation Club. A native of Manchester, England, Wright made her acting debut in 2021 in the Lifetime thriller KIDNAPPED as a young girl who goes missing.
