Biography

    • Niamh Moriarty is a young up-and-coming actress from Dublin, Ireland who is already establishing a name for herself in the land of stage and screen. Having worked professionally from the age of 11, Niamh got her start attending local drama classes where she fell in love with the art of performing. She has since gone on to work with renowned Irish stars; Sharon Horgan, Alison Oliver, Fionnula Flanagan, Owen Roe, Jamie Beamish and more. Niamh has recently been announced to lead American-based coming of age film 'Essay #2' with more details to come.

Niamh's first leading role was playing "Marnie" in BBC's BAFTA nominated "Best Interests" which is aired June 2023 on BBC ONE and iPlayer. Best Interests is a compelling, thought-provoking fictional drama from Bafta-winning writer Jack Thorne (Help, His Dark Materials, The Virtues) directed by Michael Keillor (Roadkill, Strike). This is a story of a family driven apart by having to make choices no parent would ever want to make. Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe, Bad Sisters) and Michael Sheen (Good Omens, Quiz) play married couple Nicci and Andrew. They have two daughters: Katie played by Alison Oliver (Conversations With Friends) and Marnie played by Niamh Moriarty. Marnie has a life-limiting condition and her doctors believe it is in her best interests to cease life-prolonging treatment. When her loving family disagrees, we follow them through every stage of the legal battle that ensues.

Prior to collaborating on "Best Interests" Niamh first met Jack Thorne while starring as "Tiny Tim" in The Gate Theatre's 10 week run of Jack Thorne's "A Christmas Carol.

You can see Niamh in Element Pictures Cannes 'Un Certain Regard' winning film "September Says" directed by Ariane Labed in theatres and streaming now.

Niamh has Cerebral Palsy and as an actress with a disability she hopes to carve a path in bringing accurate representation to global screens, whilst changing industry standards to make entertainment and creativity more accessible for everyone.
