Hope Madden - an award-winning director, writer and producer based in Columbus, Ohio - is known for writing and directing the 2022 feature film Obstacle Corpse, as well as the short films Godspeed (2020), Basement Buddy (2024) and Fansplaining (2025). She also wrote the 2024 short film al fresco.
A graduate of Ohio State University with an honors degree in Creative Writing, Hope spent nearly two decades as a film critic and journalist before directing her attention to making films of her own. Turning her enduring interest in cinema into a multimedia investment, she co-founded MaddWolf Productions in 2019.
Hope is also a published author, with dozens of poems in a variety of respected journals, short horror stories in many anthologies, and two novella, Roost (2022) and Killer Pictures (2025).
Hope is a member of the Critics Choice Association, Cherry Picks, Columbus Film Critics Association, and the Online Association of Female Film Critics. She and her husband George Wolf endow a scholarship for Moving Image Production majors at Ohio State University.
