Did a stage show with Bappi Lahiri and others in Vancouver BC, Canada. This was in the mid 80's.

Two sisters named Kavita and Karuna. Has 1 brother named Ravi. Mother named ( Vedavelli) Tara Iyer. Father name is Padmanbhan Iyer. He later remarried a lady named Agnes. Kalpana's mother and siblings are all now settled in Dubai.

Was involved with Junior Mehmood prior to joining films.

Was finally going to play a lead role in Arvind Kumar's shelved film opposite Ravindra Mahajani. This was in 1984.

Singer Mukesh noticed her dancing during her college function and bought her in his musical troupe then on she went to do many musical shows with him.
