As the Netflix sci-fi fantasy horror giant Stranger Thingsapproaches its conclusion, fans are eagerly anticipating what will surely be an epic finale. The show officially ends with a three-part release at the end of 2025, but in the meantime, you can get your Stranger Things fix in another format. The stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which works as a spin-off prequel to the events in the TV series, is currently playing on Broadway, and judging by the trailer, it is well worth the price of admission.
As reported by Fangoria, the play is set in 1959, decades before the events of the show, as the Creel family moves to Hawkins, and young Henry starts showing the early signs of an eventual transformation. As revealed in the Netflix series, Henry Creel is the human who becomes the monstrous Vecna, transforming into something terrifyingly otherworldly after living for decades in the Upside Down.

Your favourite medical drama is around to be released in the Fall of 2025. Grey’s Anatomy is the longest-running show on ABC, spanning over its two-decade run, entertaining and letting viewers explore what goes on behind a hospital setup. With the confirmed slate mention, the drama is reviving for its 22nd Season.
Per an interview with Variety, Ellen Pompeo, famous for her titular role as Dr. Meredith Grey, said in an interview about her return. The actress said that, in addition to continuing to serve as an executive producer and doing the voiceovers in each episode, she has been contracted to appear in seven episodes of Season 22. She further told the magazine,
“It’s not like if I leave the show completely, they’re going to stop the show. The show is still massively successful.”

Real hospitals experience turnover all the time; ask any real medical professional. People go elsewhere after they finish their residencies, or doctors migrate to become attending physicians — it's just part of the reality of the job. With that said, I'm not going to sit here and pretend that "Grey's Anatomy," the long-running medical drama created by Shonda Rhimes, is particularly medically accurate, because I'd like to think that bombs don't end up in body cavities all that often in real operating rooms and I really hope that fatality rates are lower amongst actual doctors than they are among the staff of the Seattle-based surgeons on this series ... because those doctors die a lot, and it's pretty alarming. This definitely doesn't stop "Grey's Anatomy" from being entertaining, and the show's outstanding ensemble cast is what makes it such a fun watch — and that definitely includes Sara Ramírez's extremely talented orthopedic surgeon Dr.

People come and go on "Grey's Anatomy" all the time. The long-running medical drama created by Shonda Rhimes was introduced as a mid-season replacement back in 2005 and has seen a lot of main cast members join and leave the show over the years; even its titular "Grey," Ellen Pompeo's Meredith, "left" the series in November 2022. But what about Meredith's "person" Dr. Cristina Yang, the cardiothoracic superstar played by Sandra Oh for the show's first 10 seasons?
Cristina is one of the show's five original surgical interns — alongside Meredith, Dr. George O'Malley (T.R. Knight), Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), and Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens (Katherine Heigl), all of whom also leave the show and its fictional Seattle-based hospital behind at some point — and pretty early in the series, it's established that she and Meredith are best friends. Despite her relationships with other doctors on "Grey's Anatomy," like cardiothoracic attending Dr.

Louis – he pronounces it Louie – McCartney had only recently learned the name of the young actor who, 28 years before McCartney was born in Northern Ireland, won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play, becoming the youngest to ever do so. “It was something ‘First,’” McCartney tells me, and, prompted, I say Firth. Peter Firth, for Equus.
“Yes,” McCartney responds excitedly. “Peter Firth, 1975!”
Now, 50 years after Firth’s historic win at just 21 years old, McCartney is up for the same award at the same age for his powerful, funny and terrifying performance in Stranger Things: The First Shadow. A newcomer to the stage, McCartney, a strikingly quirky looking young man has just the slightest resemblance to a Beatle with whom he doesn’t share a name – the young Ringo Starr.

Partway through the sixth season of Shonda Rhimes' massive hit "Grey's Anatomy", we see Isobel "Izzie" Stevens, one of the series' original surgical interns played by Katherine Heigl, for the final time. To call Izzie's exit abrupt is ... an understatement. After getting fired from Seattle Grace-Mercy West hospital, Izzie flees, leaving her new husband, Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), behind. When she comes back in "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked," she suggests that maybe she and Alex can fix things; he tells her that's not possible, and Izzie is never seen or heard from again.
Characters leave "Grey's Anatomy" all the time. Patrick Dempsey's leading man, Dr. Derek Shepherd (often referred to as "McDreamy"), left the series in season 11, Sandra Oh hung up her stethoscope in season 10 when her character, Dr. Cristina Yang, moved to Switzerland, and even the titular Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo,...

Broadway goes Upside Down with Stranger Things: The First Shadow, opening tonight at the Marquis Theatre and setting a new standard for what’s possible in high-tech spectacle on the legitimate stage. Director Stephen Daldry, playwright Kate Trefry and young star Louis McCartney, invaluably assisted by a top-rate crew of designers and special effects wizards, bring an exciting, bump-in-the-night creature feature to Broadway.
Scary is a rarity for Broadway. There was the creepy Grey House a few seasons ago, and you might remember when King Kong lumbered around a stage a while back, but Stranger Things: The First Shadow easily outdoes them for jump scares and genuine thrills. Some of the magical derring-do is reminiscent of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. That massive battleship bow that crashes on stage,...

Walking into Stranger Things: The First Shadow on Broadway, theatergoers are greeted by a giant replica of the Creel house at the center of the Netflix series, plush demogorgons for sale and ominous music from the 1950s playing as signs welcome them to Hawkins, Ind.
“You’re going to be right in front of the Mind Flayer!” an attendee in the front few rows says upon taking his seat at an April preview performance.
The show, which is opening at the Marquis Theatre April 22, comes to New York after opening in London’s West End in December 2023 and marks the streaming giant’s biggest foray onto Broadway to date. For Netflix, bringing this show to the stage allows the streaming giant to connect with the large fandom around one of its most popular series, in the same way the company has been launching immersive experiences around Bridgerton and Squid Game.

Ellen Pompeo says she has no intention of cutting ties with Grey’s Anatomy, even after stepping back from a full-time role in the series. In a recent interview with El País, the actor explained that she continues to stay involved both for personal reasons and because of the scale of the show’s ongoing success.
“That would make no sense, emotionally or financially,” Pompeo said. “The show was streamed more than a billion times in 2024. Ellen Pompeo has a very simple explanation for why she continues to appear as Meredith Grey in ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Speaking with El País, Pompeo explained why she has not left the long-running ABC medical drama, telling the outlet, “That would make no sense, emotionally or financially.” The actress and producer went on to note that she has no interest in letting ABC and the producers behind “Grey’s Anatomy” continue to profit off her “hard work” without taking part in the show’s ongoing success herself.

“If I were to walk away completely, everybody gets to make money from my hard work for 20 years and I wouldn’t make any money.

Grey’s Anatomy as a show has seen its fair share of deaths, and some have been more devastating than others for fans and the cast. One of these was the death of T.R. Knight’s character, George O’Malley, who was an integral part of the cast from the very beginning but met a brutal and disturbing end.
George O’Malley’s death actually had an impact on Ellen Pompeo, who talks about how the death really broke her on the Call Her Daddy podcast. The show snuck in a James Bond reference, which was also part of the George O’Malley character all along, but the way it was referenced during his death was heartwrenching for more than a few reasons.

The medical drama Grey’s Anatomy has been running for two decades now and has brought several heartbreaking and warming stories to the screen. While the long-running drama has a cast that has become family at this point, it also has several dark moments where cast and crew members were called out for their problematic behaviours.
One of the cast members who got fired over his statements to a co-star was Isaiah Washington. The actor was written off the show after he was accused of using a homophobic slur to describe a co-star, T.R. Knight. Washington later accused star Katherine Heigl of stating that he should never speak in public again and partly blamed her for his termination.

Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes recently opened up about the potential conclusion of ABC’s longest-running medical drama. Even though she’s no longer the drama’s showrunner, Rhimes has continued to be an integral part of the series as an executive producer.
When asked about her possible plans for the ending of Grey’s Anatomy during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rhimes admitted that she stopped thinking about the show’s conclusion after Season 8. At the moment, she doesn’t have any idea about how the medical drama will end. "I have zero endings for Grey's now. I mean, literally zero. Until Season 8, I still had endings," she shared. This year, Grey's Anatomy celebrates its 20th anniversary. Since the medical series aired its first episode, hundreds of characters popped in and out every season, and a good number of them didn't make it very far into the show's 21 seasons. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, franchise creator Shonda Rhimes reveals that despite the high body count of the series, there is one death that she still hasn't managed to get over: Denny Duquette's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Grey's Anatomy celebrates its 20th anniversary on March 27, and a ton of faces have come through Seattle Grace's doors the past two decades, but only one series regular has taken home an Emmy: Katherine Heigl.
The erstwhile Dr. Izzie Stevens won Best Drama Supporting Actress in 2007 in a shocking upset. No one expected her to prevail — "Sh-t," Heigl said after her name was announced — not even her mother. "My own mother told me I didn't have a shot in hell of winning tonight, so I really don't have anything prepared. This is my dream come true," she said onstage.
Heigl beat fellow Grey's docs Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson, The Sopranos' Lorraine Bracco and Aida Turturro, and Brothers and Sisters' Rachel Griffiths. Pundits favored Oh or Wilson for the win, especially the former, who was on her third of five straight nominations for the ABC medical drama, and had won...

Grey's Anatomy debuted as a midseason replacement 20 years ago today, on March 27, 2005. To celebrate the milestone anniversary, perennial cast members Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) joined Gold Derby and reflected on the past 21 seasons of the ABC medical drama, which will air its 442nd episode, "Ridin' Solo," on Thursday.
Of his first day on the set, Pickens says, "Looking at the faces of what was then the original cast members, I said, 'Oh, wow! I know them.' I knew of Sandra Oh's work through Arliss, and she was such a good actress. And then Patrick Dempsey and I shot a pilot some years ago. It was a cop show that Christopher Columbus was actually directing it. It never went, but we had a good time. I was excited about the cast members and what this show was about to become."

What Was Ellen Pompeo’s Most Awkward Grey’s Anatomy Scene?(Photo Credit –YouTube)
Ellen Pompeo’s time on Grey’s Anatomy was filled with intense drama, both on and off-screen. While she’s no stranger to emotional moments on set, one particular scene in Season 2 proved to be more than just acting. It was uncomfortable and awkward and led to something really unexpected, leading her to cry real tears.
Filming Turned Into A Real-Life Nightmare
During an episode of Call Her Daddy, Pompeo revisited the uncomfortable experience of filming a love scene with co-star T.R. Knight, who played George O’Malley. Their characters’ ill-fated hookup was meant to be a messy rebound for Meredith Grey, but it was an emotional disaster behind the scenes.
On filming the scene, Ellen Pompeo admitted: “Can I tell you an inside story about that? T.R. and I are such good friends and we had to do a love scene,...

Ellen Pompeo will always be connected to Grey's Anatomy. She may no longer spearhead every episode, but she still provides narration and serves as an executive producer. Since she has been involved with the show for so long, however, Pompeo has been able to speak more frankly about her experiences making it.
This was incredibly evident during the actress' recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Pompeo was asked which Grey's Anatomy sex scene was the most uncomfortable to shoot, and she did not hesitate when it came to her answer. Pompeo deemed the sex scene between her character and George (T.R. Knight) in the season 2 was so bad she couldn't bring herself to watch it.
Pompeo was forced to shoot a sex scene twice
The actress clarified that her scene partner was not to blame. "T.R. and I are such good friends," she assured host Alex Cooper.

The whole “pick me, choose me, love me” personality of her Grey’s Anatomy character, Meredith Grey, was a big No for Ellen Pompeo. Turns out, the actress had some serious regrets about her character and how certain scenes were played out. But one particularly cringeworthy scene still seems to haunt her. You know the one where Meredith and George hook up.

Yeah so, according to Ellen Pompeo’s recent podcast, the actress was apparently so uncomfortable that she cried through the entire scene. Neither Pompeo nor T.R. Knight who played George O’Malley in the show—wanted to do that scene. And just when she thought it was over, the crew hit her with, “too much thrusting, let’s go again!” It seems the CPR went somewhere else.

Just like the rest of Grey’s Anatomy fans, there is one scene that Ellen Pompeo would rather not watch. While on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the star of the medical drama addressed the traumatic storyline where Meredith (Pompeo) and George (T.R. Knight) have an ill-conceived sexual encounter. The night almost destroys their friendship when Meredith starts crying after the deed is done. Confused by her break-up with the married Derek (Patrick Dempsey), Meredith says she didn’t know she didn’t want to do it until it was over. This reaction hurts George immeasurably, and -- as Pompeo said on the podcast -- the actors involved in the scene.

Ellen Pompeo Reflects on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Tabloid Backlash, Reveals Her Most Uncomfortable Sex Scene
Ellen Pompeo is looking back on how her onscreen love story with Patrick Dempsey on Grey’s Anatomy impacted her personal life and the sex scene she describes as “uncomfortable and awkward.”
While appearing on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast on Wednesday, Pompeo reflected on the epic love story her character Meredith Grey had with Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd and how that impacted her husband, music producer Chris Ivery, at the time.
“I mean, Chris really never watched the show that helped. It was better for him. He knew just not to watch. I was with him before Grey’s, so Grey’s kinda came out of nowhere for us. And I just think we were on this crazy ride that we were just trying to hang on for dear life,” the actress explained. Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo recounts an uncomfortable sex scene from the hospital drama, explaining why she wasn't a fan of it. Pompeo is readying to take on her first major television role since first appearing as Meredith Grey two decades ago, leading the new Hulu drama Good American Family. But even though she hasn't taken a step back from Grey's, appearing in a recurring capacity while continuing to narrate and executive produce the series, she still has plenty of thoughts to share about the stories that Meredith has been a part of.
In an interview on the Call Her Daddypodcast (via Variety), Pompeo recounted the sex scene that Meredith had with George (T.R. Knight) in the season 2 episode "What Have I Done To Deserve This?" and revealed that she and Knight didn't want to do it. Though she is friends with Knight, Pompeo talks in the quote below about...

Grey’s Anatomy has a knack for making pulses race with its hookups. But behind the scenes, the long-running ABC drama has also occasionally turned stomachs. Case in point: the Season 2 “moment” between Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith and T.R. Knight’s George.

In “Forge,” writer-director Jing Ai Ng never reveals the secret recipe for the lacquer that has made it possible for Raymond (Brandon Soo Hoo) and Coco Zhang (Andie Ju) to pass off their replicas of fine art as the real thing. But the scientific elements involved are beside the point, for the second-generation Chinese American siblings know it’s confidence that will play the biggest role in convincing experts in the field that they’re in possession of legit paintings from local masters. After all, they’ve spent years watching their parents struggle with that dynamic in a culture that wasn’t their own.
Although Ng’s energetic debut feature has the expected crackerjack appeal of two underdogs attempting to outwit those with all the power, the real excitement comes from posing a more interesting version of the question of what is real. It may only be a matter of...

Ellen Pompeo recently shared an emotional moment on the set of Grey's Anatomy that had her struggling to keep her emotions in check. She said her daughter also cried at the scene.
"Now or Never," the season finale of Grey's Anatomy Season 5, was an intense, emotional rollercoaster with the fate of Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) and George O'Malley (T.R. Knight) hanging in the balance. When an unrecognizable John Doe is rushed to the emergency room after being hit by a bus, he communicates with Meredith (Pompeo), tracing "007" on her hand -- letting her know he is actually George.

When "Grey's Anatomy" premiered as a mid-season replacement in March of 2005 thanks to creator and showrunner Shonda Rhimes, it's safe to say that nobody genuinely thought it would keep running and running and running until it became the longest-running medical drama in TV history. As of this writing, the show is partway through airing its 21st season — and even though Ellen Pompeo, the star of the series who puts the Grey in "Grey's Anatomy" as Dr. Meredith Grey, left the show as a main cast member in its 19th season, it shows no signs of stopping.
Due to the fact that, in real life, hospitals change personnel with some regularity and new intern classes begin their residencies each summer, "Grey's Anatomy" is able to remain (relatively) fresh even with hundreds of episodes under its belt, introducing new intern classes every few years to keep the momentum going. Sure, you're familiar with "Grey's Anatomy," the longest-running medical drama in TV history that premiered on ABC in 2005 as a humble mid-season replacement. Shonda Rhimes' soapy, steamy, and delightfully over-the-top hospital drama, led by Ellen Pompeo as the eponymous Dr. Meredith Grey, follows five surgical interns as they begin working at a major hospital in Seattle; after those interns become residents and attendings, the show keeps introducing new incoming intern classes as they're thrown headfirst into one of the most daunting and intense professions around. So, uh, what the heck is "Grey's Anatomy: B-Team?"
In January of 2018, a webseries called "Grey's Anatomy: B-Team" hit ABC.com, giving audiences a closer look at the 14th season's intern class. Introduced after the first few episodes of said season, Dr. Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), Dr. Sam Bello (Jeanine Mason), Dr. Casey Parker (Alex Blue Davis), Dr. Vikram Roy (Rushi Kota), Dr. Taryn Helm (Jaicy Elliott), and Dr.

With his promotion, Grenz also becomes Head of the Talent Department.

Grey's Anatomy has been going for almost two decades. The 21 seasons and nearly 450 episodes have introduced viewers to plenty of characters, but few have been as popular with fans as Dr. Derek Shepherd, who's been affectionately referred to as "McDreamy." Derek is a neurosurgeon who works at the same hospital as the main character, Meredith Grey, and even had a relationship and kids with her. Patrick Dempsey won over audiences' hearts as Derek Shepherd, and even received the honor of People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2023 after showing so much charisma in Grey's Anatomy.
The show controversially killed Derek Shepherd in episode 21 of season 11, titled "How to Save a Life." The episode is one of the lowest-rated episodes on IMDb, with a user rating of 5.6/10 with more than 3,000 reviews, mostly annoyed with how Derek was killed in the episode. However, McDreamy's death was a necessity, especially with situations in the background of the show's production.

The lights have once more gone off at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital before Grey’s Anatomy season 22 returns to screens in 2025, and sooner or later they’ll never turn back on. Even with the sort of soft reboot a couple of years ago that brought in a new crop of interns, it can’t be long before Grey's Anatomy gets its usual blood lust and starts getting rid of characters for ratings.
That’s perhaps a cynical read, and I don’t mean it entirely, but I’m hurt at something that happened in Grey’s Anatomy season 21’s ending. No, not the cliffhanger, or the tragic suggestion of Jo’s miscarriage, or even the fact that Meredith seemed even more absent than usual. It’s all down to another one of those character exits the show likes so much.
