Trump’s Epa Chief Tried to Debunk Chemtrails, but Nobody Actually Read the Report
Image
Lee Zeldin, the Trump-appointed head of the Environmental Protection Agency, on Thursday attempted to walk a fine line between placating conspiracy theorists and dispelling misinformation. Unfortunately, he seems to have left many people confused as to the agency’s actual policies and actions.

“Americans have questions about geoengineering and contrails,” Zeldin wrote in a post on X. “They expect honesty and transparency from their government when seeking answers. For years, people who asked questions in good faith were dismissed, even vilified by the media and their own government. This ends today.

Yes, Right-Wingers Are Pushing Conspiracies About the Texas Flood
Image
For years now, virtually every national tragedy — natural or manmade — is accompanied by a barrage of right-wing conspiracy theories. The deadly and devastating floods that ravaged central Texas over the Fourth of July weekend are no different.

The flash floods that killed over 100 people, including at least 27 campers and counselors at a summer camp for young girls, have become fodder for online conspiracies and harassment that are being fomented by online trolls, right-wing influencers, and even Republican lawmakers.

As she has in the wake of past natural disasters, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Fla.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Introduces Bill To Criminalize ‘Weather Modification’
Image
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) announced that she will introduce a bill in the House of Representatives intended to prohibit “weather modification.”

“I am introducing a bill that prohibits the injection, release, or dispersion of chemicals or substances into the atmosphere for the express purpose of altering weather, temperature, climate, or sunlight intensity,” Greene revealed on X. “It will be a felony offense.

“I have been researching weather modification and working with the legislative counsel for months writing this bill.”

“It will be similar to Florida’s Senate Bill 56,” she noted, referring to the bill Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) signed into law on June 20.

This bill imposes penalties of no more than five years in prison.

It also imposes “$100,000 in fines for anyone attempting geoengineering or weather modification, including cloud seeding,” according to CBS12 News.

“We must end the dangerous and deadly practice of weather modification and geoengineering,” Greene said.

Lesbian Actress Valorie Curry Discusses Portraying Anti-Gay, Anti-Trans Villain Firecracker in ‘The Boys’: “I really connected with her right off the bat”
Image
“The Boys” remains one of the world’s most popular superhero series, with Season 4 being Certified Fresh with high ratings. However, some fans were review-bombing the season due to its heightened political undertones, indicating that the writers are fully embracing political satire. One key element of this satire was a new character, Firecracker, a supervillain set to play a prominent role this season.

Recently, we reported on the inspiration behind Firecracker, with showrunner Eric Kripke revealing which U.S. politician influenced the character. Now, actress Valorie Curry has shared her thoughts on the influence behind her role, adding a layer of “The Boys”-style irony to the story.

In short, we reported that Eric Kripke confirmed Republican politician Marjorie Taylor Greene inspired Firecracker. Greene is a far-right politician and conspiracy theorist, a member of the Republican Party, and a strong supporter of Donald Trump.

She has promoted antisemitic and white supremacist views,...

Debunking All the B.S. About Zohran Mamdani
Image
It’s now official: New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani is the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City, having toppled disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the establishment pick, in a wild primary that has already had seismic effects throughout the party. A 33-year-old Democratic Socialist, he will go up against the Republican nominee, Curtis Silwa, a scandal-ridden Mayor Eric Adams, and, potentially, Cuomo again in November, looking to become the first Muslim, first Indian-American, and first millennial leader of the Big Apple.

Mamdani’s momentous campaign has provided...

Senator Backs Away From Compromise Over AI Moratorium In Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” — Update
Image
Update: Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-tn) backed away from a compromise on a key provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that restricts states from regulating Al.

Blackburn and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-tx) had reached on a compromise on the AI moratorium that reduced its length from 10 to five years, and allowed for state laws and regulations that have to do with “unfair or deceptive acts or practices, child online safety, child sexual abuse material, rights of publicity, protection of a person’s name, image, voice, or likeness.”

But after the new language was unveiled, it was met with some skepticism, with some opponents of the moratorium pointing to a provision that it would still restrict state laws that place “undue or disproportionate burden” on AI.

Per Politico, Blackburn said in a statement Monday evening, “While I appreciate Chairman Cruz’s efforts to find acceptable language that allows states to...

‘Apocalypse In The Tropics’ Trailer: Oscar Nominee Petra Costa Takes On The Rise Of Christian Nationalism With “Savage Clarity”
Image
Exclusive: When does a democracy end, and a theocracy begin? That’s the key question in Oscar-nominated filmmaker Petra Costa’s urgent new documentary Apocalypse in the Tropics, set to open in select theaters in the U.S. and UK on July 11, and in Brazil this Thursday, and premiering worldwide on Netflix on July 14.

Costa’s film doesn’t focus on, say, Iran or Afghanistan – where theocratic control of government has become a norm — but in a place where separation of church and state is enshrined in the constitution: her native Brazil. That idea, central to Brazilian democracy and American tradition as well, is coming under increasing threat from the rise of Christian nationalism. In Christian nationalist thinking – surging in Brazil and the U.S. – an avenging Jesus from out of the Book of Revelations suits up for battle with his opponents, eager to spill blood to achieve God’s will.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Suggests JFK Was Assassinated Over Opposition To Israel’s Nuclear Program In Latest Gaffe
Image
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) appeared to suggest on social media that President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated because he was against Israel’s nuclear program.

In May, Greene went to X to slam the Trump administration for not making his Maga base happy.

In the 1960s, Kennedy was “worried that Israel’s nuclear program was a potentially serious proliferation risk and insisted that Israel permit periodic inspections to mitigate the danger,” according to declassified documents published on April 21, 2016, by the National Security Archive, Nuclear Proliferation International History Project, and the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies.

Greene’s claim about the connection between the former president’s assassination and his disapproval of Israel’s nuclear program was a response to the backlash she received from right-wing Fox News commentator Mark Levin on X earlier this week.

“Mtg, God, are you stupid? And you keep banging your head against the wall.

Laura Loomer Demands Trump Charge Mamdani Over Made-Up Terrorism Claim

The White House is claiming that they will prevent nuclear war by bombing a Middle Eastern nation, and Republicans are posting some of the most Islamophobic shit you’ve ever seen in your life. No, it’s not 2003.

Following Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani’s decisive victory in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday, most New Yorkers are rejoicing over the sound walloping he dished out to former governor and accused sex pest Andrew Cuomo. Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” Can Retain Provision That Bans States From Regulating AI, Senate Parliamentarian Concludes
Image
Donald Trump’s signature piece of legislation, the One Beautiful Bill Act, will be able to retain a provision that prohibits states from regulating artificial intelligence over the next 10 years.

Under the current language in the bill, states would lose out on federal broadband funding if they enforce such laws.

The Senate parliamentarian ruled last week that the AI provision in the Senate version of the legislation does not have to be subject to a rule that otherwise would require a 60-vote threshold.

Republicans are going through a process called reconciliation in order to pass the massive tax and funding package by a simply majority in the Senate, or without any Democratic votes. But the provisions in the legislation has to do with spending and revenue, so the Senate’s parliamentarian issues guidance on what can and cannot be included.

Even though the provision remains in the legislation, some GOP senators are opposed to it.

Donald Trump Says Tucker Carlson Apologized Amid Maga Split On U.S. Involvement In Iran Strikes
Image
Donald Trump told reporters that Tucker Carlson “called and apologized” to him amid a split on the Right over U.S. involvement in Israel’s strikes on Iran.

Carlson, though, has continued to warn about the United States getting into a war in the region, and posted a video on Tuesday night in which he grilled Sen. Ted Cruz (R-tx) about his lack of basic knowledge about Iran.

“Tucker is a nice guy,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday. “He called and apologized the other day because he thought he said things that were a little bit too strong, and I appreciated that.”

Last week, Carlson wrote of the U.S. being “complicit” in Israel’s airstrikes on Iran so far, and that he could not think of a “single way this helps the United States.” Trump later took a swipe at Carlson, calling him “kooky” and,...

Trump Administration To Rebrand Biden-Era Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute, Commerce Secretary Says At AI Honors: “We’re Not Going To Regulate It”
Image
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told a D.C. crowd this week that the Biden-era AI Safety Institute would be rebranded as the Center for AI Standards and Innovation, as a “place where people voluntarily go to drive analysis and standards.”

“As we move from large language models to large quantitative models, and we add all these different things, you want a place to go,” Lutnick said. “We say, has someone checked out this model? Is this a safe model? Is this a model that we understand? How do I do this? And we’re not going to regulate it. We are going to enhance the voluntary models of what great American innovation is all about.”

Lutnick’s remarks came at the inaugural AI Honors this week, held by the Washington AI Network at the Waldorf Astoria.

The rebrand reflects a more hands-off approach that the Trump administration has taken to AI,...

Elon Musk Rails Against Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, Vows To “Fire All The Politicians” Who “Betrayed The American People” — Update
Image
Updated, with additional comments: Elon Musk again attacked the centerpiece of Donald Trump’s legislative agenda, the Big Beautiful Bill Act, this time calling the tax and spending package a “disgusting abomination.”

Musk posted against the legislation late into the night on Tuesday, as GOP leaders on the Hill played defense.

Musk wrote on X on Tuesday, “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”

“It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden America citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.”

Later, he wrote, “In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.”

Musk has poured hundreds of millions into supporting Trump, and the GOP had been expecting him to play a major role in the midterms next year.

GOP Senators Relieved After Controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Passes On Georgia Senate Race
Image
Some Republican senators are breathing easier after controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) announced that she would not challenge Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Georgia) in next year’s midterm elections.

“If I’m going to fight for a team, it will only be a team willing to lay it all on the line to save this country,” Greene wrote on X, noting the dysfunction of the upper chamber.

Greene could still run for governor next year, stating that she is confident she would win the primary.

Gov. Brian Kemp (R-Georgia), who was viewed as the strongest candidate, recently revealed that he is not going to challenge Ossoff.

Before the announcement, Greene was showing signs that she was leaning toward running.

“Polling shows Congresswoman Greene would blow out a primary,” her spokesman said. “She has the same type of support President [Donald Trump] has, and now he’s president.”

Martin Short
Martin Short has an idea of how to bring back Jiminy Glick
Martin Short
Jiminy Glick tore through Hollywood in a way that took the rich, arrogant, primadonna mindset down a peg. Unfortunately, he wasn’t real, having been the bloated creation of Martin Short as a way to poke fun at celebrity culture. Blunt and as far from politically correct as he could be, Jiminy Glick was very much of his time. Yet, Short does have some ideas in how he could resurrect the character.

Speaking with IndieWire, Martin Short said that it wouldn’t necessarily be celebrity culture that he goes after but rather those in the nation’s capital. “I think that if I had to do another Jiminy movie, I’d make Mr. Glick Goes to Washington. I mean, everyone in that world has an element of absurdity. When you see the news now, you can’t get broader than Marjorie Taylor Greene. You couldn’t create a character broader than that.

Republican Crumbles When Pressed About Tax Bill at Heated Town Hall

Former US President Joe Biden Diagnosed With An Aggressive Form Of Prostate Cancer And Investigating Treatment Options
Image
Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. The disease has spread to his bones, as Biden was diagnosed on Friday after he sought medical treatment for urinary symptoms.

Biden’s Cancer Isn’t Curable, But It Is Treatable

Doctors found a nodule on his prostate. According to the statement from his office, he was diagnosed with a “Gleason score of 9 and grade group 5 prostate cancer with metastasis to the bone.” His cancer is not curable, but it is hopefully treatable; however, with the scores mentioned above, the cancer can grow and spread very quickly.

The American Cancer Society states that a prostate cancer’s grade group is indicative of how likely the tumor is to grow and spread, and how quickly it could occur.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone sensitive, which allows for effective management.

We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery.”

‘Eddington’ Review: Ari Aster’s Explosive, Satirical Neo-Western Takes A Big Swing At Maga Culture – Cannes Film Festival
Image
How do you make a satirical movie about modern America when the news that comes out of there every day is quite literally beyond a joke? Ari Aster is one of the rare directors willing to go there, and his new film Eddington is extraordinary not only for that but for depicting a slice of history that we have yet to see properly shown on film, even though it happened only five years ago. Dressed up as a neo-noir Western, this pandemic saga drips with the kind of biting, dark political humor hardly seen much since the heyday of screenwriter and novelist Terry Southern, author of Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove.

The setting — late May 2020 — is crucial: Covid-19 has just become a thing, and the residents of Eddington in Sevilla County are getting used to life with masks and social distancing. Most comply, but others are skeptical, including Sheriff Joe Cross (Joaquin Phoenix), who,...

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Rants Against Trump Administration For Failing To Fight For Maga Issues: ‘The Base Is Not Happy’
Image
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) posted a series of complaints on the social media platform X against the Trump administration.

In April, she was condemned by X users for the insensitive comments she made about the death of Pope Francis in an X post where she seemed to call him “evil.”

In a new post on X, Greene stated: “I represent the base, and when I’m frustrated and upset over the direction of things, you better be clear, the base is not happy. I campaigned for no more foreign wars. And now we are supposedly on the verge of going to war with Iran. I don’t think we should be bombing foreign countries on behalf of other foreign countries, especially when they have their own nuclear weapons and massive military strength.

“And on top of that, now we are told that we have signed a deal for mineral rights in Ukraine,...

The Stars of ‘White Lotus,’ ‘Yellowjackets’ and ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Just Barnstormed Congress in the Name of Arts Funding
Image
Though he spent much of the past season drugged out and on the run from the law, Jason Isaacs had a few ideas about how to get the country’s most influential legislators to bend to his will.

“Be focused on the task and let’s not talk about ourselves,” said Isaacs, the Brit who played embattled banker Timothy Ratliff on the recently concluded season of The White Lotus. “Not ‘we’re so great and this is the fifth season of our Netflix show.’ It’s what this money does.“

It was last Thursday night at a hotel near Washington’s Dupont Circle, and Isaacs was exhorting the room on ways to win over skeptical Republicans on the matter of arts funding. The actor had joined nearly two dozen of his performing peers — they included stars from Yellowjackets and The Walking Dead, The Goldbergs and The Shield and The Sex Lives of College Girls...

Donald Trump’s Latest Executive Order Directs An End To Federal Funding For NPR And PBS; “Blatantly Unlawful,” PBS CEO Says — Update
Image
Updated with comments from PBS and NPR: Donald Trump signed an executive order seeking to halt federal funding for NPR and PBS, deeming it “taxpayer subsidization of biased media.”

The order directs the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to cease direct funding to the media outlets. But the corporation, which distributes federal money to public media, said that it is beyond the president’s jurisdiction.

Patricia Harrison, the corporation’s president and CEO, said in a statement, “Cpb is not a federal executive agency subject to the president’s authority. Congress directly authorized and funded Cpb to be a private nonprofit corporation wholly independent of the federal government.”

Harrison cited the statute that created the corporation, noting that it prohibited “any department, agency, officer, or employee of the United States to exercise any direction, supervision, or control over educational television or radio broadcasting, or over [Cpb] or any of its grantees or contractors.

Virginia Giuffre Is Third Jeffrey Epstein Accuser To Die – Said In Post That She Was ‘Not Suicidal’
Image
Virginia Giuffre died last Friday of what authorities have reported to be suicide, but many are suspecting otherwise.

Giuffre, 41, was found dead in her farm home outside Perth, Australia.

Her death marks the third among the more prominent women who accused the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein of assault. Giuffre testified that Epstein, with the help of Ghislaine Maxwell, used her as a slave, flying her around the world and offering her body to colleagues and associates “like a platter of fruit.”

Giuffre alleged that Epstein trafficked her to Prince Andrew, who assaulted her three times when she was 17. Andrew denied the accusations, claiming he never met Giuffre, despite photo evidence of him inappropriately touching her at the time. Andrew reached a multi-million dollar settlement with Giuffre outside of court in 2022.

In May 2017, Leigh Patrick, another leading figure among those who testified against Epstein, was found dead in Palm Beach,...

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Faces Backlash For Insensitive Comments After Pope Francis’ Death: ‘Evil Is Being Defeated By Hand Of God’
Image
Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) has yet again sparked outrage with a controversial comment on social media, this time with comments about the recent death of Pope Francis.

Last week, nine hours following Francis’ passing, Greene posted to X, “Today there were major shifts in global leadership.”

Greene, who defines herself as a “Christian Nationalist,” continued with the assertion, “Evil is being defeated by the hand of God.”

Francis, 88, died at 7:35 a.m. on Easter Morning, April 21, due to a cerebral stroke. He was elected pope on March 13, 2013.

Greene’s post was quickly slammed for being insensitive, with internet users making comments such as “You’re a disgrace to America and the world,” and “Shame on you, lady. This is disgusting.”

Greene’s loathing of the Catholic Church’s previous leadership was no secret. In 2022 she wrote, “I was born into the church raised in it and I was married in the Church,...

Image
Amazon's Prime Video has cemented its name among the most successful streaming services, with a diverse set of original projects, whether films or TV series. However, after recently canceling Bosch: Legacy, the streamer has now canceled yet another show.

The comedy sitcom Clean Slate premiered on Feb. 6 to positive reviews. It was co-created by Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black) and George Wallace (Batman Forever), who also starred in the sitcom. However, despite the positive reviews, Deadline officially confirmed Prime Video axed Clean Slate after one season.

Cox, Wallace, and co-creator Dan Ewen confirmed the news in a guest column on the outlet, detailing the show's origins and further details about the show. Jimmy Kimmel: Liberal outrage partly to blame for Trump’s rise to power
Image
Jimmy Kimmel doesn't hold back when it comes to covering Donald Trump. And the late-night TV host took the same approach when trying to explain how exactly Trump has won two presidential elections.

Kimmel has spent years criticizing President Trump, making in a major selling point of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and its success. While Kimmel's monologues often take a liberal perspective to Trump, it's that same perspective that helped put Trump in power. At least, that's according to Kimmel.

On the topic of cancel culture and what is acceptable in today's comedy, Kimmel gave Rolling Stone a revealing answer. “I don’t put limits on what I laugh at. But for me personally, as I’ve grown older, as I’ve matured, I won’t make a joke that I wouldn’t make if a person of that color or persuasion was in the room. That’s how I look at it.

PBS Stations Call Federal Funds “Irreplaceable And Essential” As Trump Administration Prepares To Slash Public Media Coin
Image
The Trump administration plans to present Congress with cuts to most funding for public media late this month, according to news reports, setting the stage for a showdown when lawmakers return from a recess on April 28.

This is not a surprise to public media. The threat has been in the air since the November elections. In his first term, Trump proposed eliminating funding but lawmakers restored it, something that’s happened time and time again over the years as public broadcasting, which is educational and reaches into the heartland, has enjoyed bipartisan support despite ongoing critiques of NPR in particular of leaning left.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting distributes the federal funds with about 70% going to public media stations around the country — TV and radio. The Cpb received $535 million in the current fiscal year. It is forward funded, meaning that its latest budget approved by Congress for 2025 continues appropriations through...

‘Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver On Trump’s Tariff Fiasco: “We Dodged A Bullet, But The Monkey Still Has A Gun”

John Oliver dedicated a significant portion of Last Week Tonight to unpacking President Donald Trump’s tariff fiasco and the “financial armageddon” he is hell-bent on bringing about, beginning the segment by deeming the past several news cycles an “emotional rollercoaster” since the taxes’ implementation “with the help of the single dumbest chart in human history.”

Running through the laundry list of headlines, the political host addressed Potus’ Panican tweet, a term he used to describe “a new party based on weak and stupid people.” Oliver jumped in to quip, “Though, I’d argue the weak and stupid demo is, if anything, way overrepresented in government right now,” flashing on the screen images of Mike Johnson, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jd Vance.

Addressing Trump’s claim that “countries are kissing my ass” with regard to approaching the negotiating table, Oliver replied, “I’m sure some have been pretty nice to him,...

Trump Ally Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Made 15 Big Stock Trades Before Tariffs Were Announced & Markets Crashed
Image
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) made 15 significant stock trades from March 16 to March 24.

The trades came at an interesting time – just days before her ally, President Donald Trump, implemented huge new tariffs, which include a minimum baseline tax of 10% on all trading partners and additional levies on countries like China and EU members, on April 2.

In the week after, the market lost trillions of dollars of value.

According to Capitol Trades, a platform that shares politician trading data, Greene invested $100,000-$250,000 on U.S. Treasury bills, also known as T-Bills, three times and did so on March 16, March 19, and March 24.

On March 16, she spent $1,000 to $15,000 on AbbVie Inc. stock, Alphabet Inc. stock and Apple Inc. stock.

On the same day, the Georgia congresswoman spent the same range on the stocks for Applied Materials Inc., Blackstone Group Inc. and Cardinal Health Inc. She also invested $1,000 to $15,000 in Caterpillar Inc., Costco Wholesale...

This Is Why Mississippi Once Banned Sesame Street
Image
“You all can hate us on your own dime,” said Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene last month, justifying her stance as to why the federal government should no longer fund NPR and PBS, outlets that Greene believes favor left-leaning opinions. A few days later, another Republican introduced a bill to end government support for public broadcasting.

Unfortunately, NPR and PBS have grown used to this kind of thing over the years. In 1969, Fred Rogers testified before Congress when it threatened to reduce funding for public broadcasting. In that case, anyway, his heartfelt plea saved more beautiful days in the neighborhood.

Even seemingly nonpolitical programming, like preschool treasure Sesame Street, has faced political vitriol over the years. Who could possibly have a problem with Bert, Ernie and Cookie Monster? Try Mississippi’s State Commission for Educational Television, which decided its public television stations could no longer air the show in 1970, according to The New York Times.

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Ex-Husband, Perry Greene, Apologizes For Harassing Muslim Women Praying While In A Tesla Cybertruck
Image
The ex-husband of controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), Perry Greene, has made a public apology after he attacked women with a slew of anti-Islamic insults.

Perry filed for divorce from the congresswoman after reports of multiple affairs on her part.

On March 31 in Alpharetta, Georgia, Perry subjected three Muslim women to a stream of insults while they were praying in a mall parking lot.

The three women in question, who have chosen to remain anonymous to protect their safety, took video evidence of Perry’s rant, which quickly went viral across the media. The footage shows Perry driving up to the women in a Tesla Cybertruck and demanding, “Where are you from? Where all y’all from?” Before he declares that they were worshipping a “false god,” saying, “Y’all wanna do all kinds of crazy s—.” Perry proceeded to follow the women as they walked towards the mall...

Debunking the PBS Myth: What Happens if Trump Defunds It
Image
“I feel that if we in public television can only make it clear that feelings are mentionable and manageable, we will have done a great service for mental health.”

Those words were spoken in 1969 by Fred Rogers during a testimony before the U.S. Senate to defend funding for Public Broadcasting. Nearly 56 years later, PBS CEO Paula Kerger echoed Rogers’ defense during a congressional subcommittee hearing on March 26, citing that the American public has consistently ranked public television as “one of the best investments the government makes.”

In many ways, the Trump administration’s current call to defund PBS and NPR is nothing new. Every Republican administration, save for Gerald Ford’s, has attempted to cut funding to public media, often due to accusations of liberal bias. What is new is that there is now a chance it just may happen.

“It’s a bigger threat than other similar threats in the past,...

The View’s Joy Behar Criticizes Audience For Disappointing Reaction
Image
Joy Behar was in high spirits during Friday’s episode of The View, but it seemed the studio audience wasn’t quite matching her enthusiasm. Never one to hold back, Behar wasted no time in calling them out.

Details About The Show

The show began with a discussion about Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent exchange with a British reporter.

When asked about a leaked Signal chat involving Trump officials and military plans, Greene dismissed the journalist by saying, “We don’t give a crap about your opinion and your reporting,” after confirming she wasn’t from the United States.

The comment sparked reactions from the panel, with Behar questioning, “What’s all this hostility toward the allies?”

She pointed out that travel to the U.S. from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa had dropped by 12.8% compared to the previous year.

Sunny Hostin chimed in, noting that some of...

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Yells At British Reporter: ‘Go Back To Your Country!’
Image
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) lashed out at Sky News’ U.S. correspondent Martha Kelner after she questioned her about the recent Signal chat scandal.

On Sunday, Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief for The Atlantic, reported in an article that, on March 13, he was added to a Signal group chat called “Houthi PC small group,” in which the Trump Administration accidentally sent him plans to attack Houthi militants in Yemen.

In his report, he said that he received a series of messages on Signal which seemed to come from Vice President Jd Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Michael Waltz and other notable officials in President Donald Trump’s administration.

He also noted that the military plan mentioned in the group chat “included precise information about weapons packages, targets and timing.”

Kelner asked Greene about this scandal during a press conference on Wednesday.

‘The View’: Ana Navarro Begs Canada to ‘Take One for the Team’ and Become 51st State to Vote Trump Out | Video
Image
The hosts of “The View” may think Donald Trump’s endeavor to make Canada the 51st state is an absurd one, but realizing how Canada’s politics actually lean, Ana Navarro is begging them to just “take one for the team.”

During Friday’s Hot Topics discussion, the women once again mocked the president’s obsession with buying Greenland and also making Canada a state, with host Alyssa Farah Griffin pointing out that, realistically, that could be a longterm loss for Republicans.

“Does he realize Canada is to the left of us?” Farah Griffin questioned. “Like, a Canadian conservative is way to the left of me, and a Canadian leftist is to the left of people here.”

Trump Demands PBS & NPR Get Defunded ‘Immediately’ in Late Night Rant
Image
President Donald Trump has called for PBS and NPR to be “defunded” immediately, referring to the publicly-funded networks as “a giant scam” and “arms of the radical left Democratic party.” “NPR and PBS, two horrible and completely biased platforms (Networks!), should be Defunded by Congress, Immediately,” Trump wrote in a late-night Truth Social rant. He continued, “Republicans, don’t miss this opportunity to rid our Country of this giant Scam, both being arms of the Radical Left Democrat Party. Just Say No And, Make America Great Again!!!” The President’s comments came amid a special congressional hearing on Wednesday (March 26), held by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-ga)’s Doge Subcommittee to interrogate PBS and NPR executives over claims of bias against the Republican party. PBS, which airs much-loved shows including All Creatures Great and Small, Call the Midwife, Finding Your Roots, Grantchester, and more, has long faced criticism from Trump,...

Jimmy Kimmel Suggests Career Change for ‘Not Bright’ Marjorie Taylor Greene
Image
Jimmy Kimmel shared some advice for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Wednesday night’s (March 26) Jimmy Kimmel Live!, suggesting her personality would be better suited to pro-wrestling. During his opening monologue, the late-night host showed a clip from Greene freaking out about drag queens during a recent Congressional hearing. In the video, Greene played a clip of drag queen Lil Hot Mess singing a children’s song, which she claimed was part of a PBS show. The song was an updated version of “The Wheels On The Bus,” with lyrics changed to, “The hips on the drag queen so swish, swish, swish,” and, “The shoulders on the drag queen go shimmy, shimmy, shimmy.” Greene read out the lyrics, calling them “repulsive.” “Someone please make a song out of that,” Kimmel said, quipping, “Wait, which one was the drag queen? I’m confused.” According to Paula Kerger, the chief executive...

Democrats Mock GOP Attacks on PBS, NPR Execs at Hearing: ‘Are Bert and Ernie Part of an Extreme Homosexual Agenda?’
Image
Democratic congressional reps ridiculed a Republican-led effort to make the case for defunding American public media at a congressional hearing Wednesday about alleged bias at PBS and NPR.

The hearing by the House of Representative’s Delivering on Government Efficiency (Doge) subcommittee, titled “Anti-American Airwaves: Holding the Heads of NPR and PBS Accountable,” started at 10 a.m. Et Wednesday. The hearing featured testimony from and questioning of PBS CEO Paula Kerger and NPR CEO Katherine Maher.

During the hearing, subcommittee member Robert Garcia (D-California) opined that “instead of a serious hearing, we’re here to attack NPR and PBS.”

Garcia then launched into a facetious attack on PBS’s Kerger. Garcia asked Kerger about “Sesame Street” puppet duo Bert and Ernie. “These two guys actually live together. They’re friends. They’re supportive of each other,” he said. “Now that might be triggering to our chairwoman” — referring to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene...

GOP Lawmakers Warn PBS And NPR CEOs They Want To Defund Public Media — Update
Image
Updated: NPR and PBS were in the spotlight at a House hearing this morning before the Delivering on Government Efficiency subcommittee, as Republicans grilled the CEOs of the public broadcasting outlets over alleged biases.

The hearing, titled Anti-American Airwaves: Holding the Heads of NPR and PBS Accountable, signaled a tough federal government funding fight ahead for the broadcasters. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which distributes the funds, is receiving $535 million in the current fiscal year, but about 70% of that outlay goes to public media stations.

At the end of the hearing, its chairwoman, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-ga), said that they will be calling for “the complete and total defund and dismantling of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.”

“We believe that you all can hate us on your own dime,” she said.

She questioned the need for public media, given that so many listeners and viewers get their information via podcasts and on the internet.

Trump Killed Voice of America. The Voice of Documentary Filmmakers and Public Media May Be Next
Image
In the Trump Administration’s latest attack on free speech and public media, the President signed an executive order March 15 that effectively shut down the U.S. Agency for Global Media (Usagm), which oversees Voice of America as well as a host of other international broadcasting entities such as Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and Radio Free Asia. In an interview with NPR, Grant Turner, the former CFO at the Usagm, called the firings “Bloody Saturday” for the agency and its networks.

This has heightened anxieties for diverse documentary filmmakers and organizations that already were threatened by the authoritarian political administration. Much of their work and distribution is tied to publicly funded media; one prominent documentary nonprofit that supports creators of color estimates 80 percent of their projects connect to public media in some way.

Kimmel Jokes Trump’s Feud With Rosie O’Donnell Is Longer Than His With Matt Damon
Image
Jimmy Kimmel compared Donald Trump’s long-running feud with comedian Rosie O’Donnell to his own (fake) beef with Matt Damon. On the most recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host quipped that “this feud with Rosie’s been going longer than me and Matt Damon now.”

Kimmel’s comment was in reference to Trump’s meeting with Irish prime minister Micheál Martin yesterday at the White House. During the meeting, boyfriend of Marjorie Taylor Greene and reporter Brian Glenn asked Martin, “Ireland is known for very happy, fun-loving people with great attitudes…...

Maga Reporter Asks Irish Prime Minister Why Rosie O’Donnell Was Allowed To Move To His Country
Image
Ireland’s Prime Minister Micheal Martin appeared a bit perplexed today by a question posed to him during an Oval Office visit with President Donald Trump.

Brian Glenn, chief White House correspondent for Real America’s Voice, a Trump supporting news outlet, asked him “why in the world would you let Rosie O’Donnell move to Ireland? I think she is going to lower your happiness level.”

Trump responded, “Thank you I like that question.”

Martin chuckled but appeared to not quite understand the question or how to respond.

“Do you know who she is?” Trump asked.

Glenn could be heard saying, “I’m joking,” before Trump added, “You are better off not knowing.”

During the Oval Office meeting last month between Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, Glenn asked the Ukrainian leader why he didn’t wear a suit.

O’Donnell said in a TikTok video this week that she moved to Ireland...

House Votes To Censure Al Green After Disruption Of Donald Trump’s Speech To Congress
Image
Rep. Al Green (D-tx) was censured by the House of Representatives for disrupting President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.

In one of the highlights of a raucous House chamber during Trump’s speech, Green was removed when he refused to stop interrupting Trump. Green shouted that the president did not have a mandate to cut Medicaid.

The vote today was 224-198 to censure Green, with 10 Democrats joining Republicans on the resolution. After the vote, Democrats surrounded Green and sang, “We Shall Overcome.” Some members continued to argue with Republicans.

Green voted “present.”

On Wednesday, Green told reporters, “The president said that he had a mandate, and I was making it clear to the president that he has no mandate to cut Medicaid.”

Green said that his tactics “is the best way to get across to a person who uses incivility against our civility.

Republicans Censure Dem Who Protested Gutting Health Care
Image
Republicans have censured Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) after the congressman protested the GOP’s planned cuts to Medicaid during President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress.

The House voted 224-198 to punish Green, with 10 Democrats joining Republicans. Green voted present. The vote comes a day after the House Freedom Caucus, with Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.) filing the resolution later that day. The censure is a formal rebuke of Green’s actions, but does not strip him of any privileges as a House member.

Democrats sang “We Shall Overcome...

Inside The Chamber: As Democrats Get Caustic, Donald Trump Goes For His Greatest Hits
Image
Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress was about what you would expect it to be: full of boasts and grand pronouncements, laced with long-debunked claims and sprinkled with moments for reality TV attention spans.

In the chamber, the atmosphere for Tuesday’s speech was much more caustic this time around, not just for Trump, who chided Democrats for not getting on board and applauding him, and the opposition party, with many of the members booing and brandishing signs calling out the president and Elon Musk. One member, Rep. Al Green (D-tx), was booted from the chamber after he refused to sit down and stop heckling at the outset of Trump’s address.

The contrast between Trump’s first term and his second was apparent right from the start, as Democrats did not participate in the traditional escorting of the president. Democrats also largely avoided a rite...

Trump Speech Descends Into Chaos As Democrats Boo Potus & Congressman Removed From Chamber In Opening Minutes
Image
Updated with more details: Democrats may have been hushed in their response so far to Donald Trump’s second administration, but for a brief turn Tuesday night at least one Democrat was not so silent as the 47th President addressed a joint session of Congress.

Within minutes of Trump taking to the lectern in front of Vice President Jd Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-la), members of the opposition began booing and jeering the Republican. In a sight almost unseen in modern times, Trump’s partisan remarks were cut short specifically by Rep. Al Green from Texas.

As fellow Democrats heckled, Republicans chanted “USA, USA,” and a silent Trump stood there as the 11-term Congressman was warned by Johnson to “cease any further disruption.” Green wasn’t the only member on his feet, as Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-ga) and Nancy Mace (R-sc) scolded the Texan for his outburst...
