He was a director and writer, known for Das Film-Magazin Nr. 2 - Achtung 8x aufgeblendet: Feuilletons in Bildform (1962), Der Arzt wider Willen (1971) and Das Stacheltier - Ein deutscher Herr in Paris (1960). He was married to Ursula Karusseit, Coline Serreau and Sabine Thalbach. He died on February 23, 2006 in Berlin, Germany.
