Deadline reports that Scott Adkins (John Wick: Chapter 4) has joined the cast of Rip, Joe Carnahan’s (Narc) upcoming crime thriller for Netflix. The film is set to star Matt Damon (Oppenheimer) and Ben Affleck (The Accountant 2) and follows a “team of Miami cops whose trust begins to fray when they discover millions in cash in a derelict stash house. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything for the team is called into question — including who they can rely on.“
In the movie, Adkins is set to play Affleck’s brother, and looking at the picture above… I can buy it. There’s definitely a resemblance. The rest of the cast includes Catalina Sandino Moreno (From), Néstor Carbonell (Lost), Sasha Calle (The Flash), Teyana Taylor (A Thousand and One), and Kyle Chandler (Lanterns). In addition to directing Rip, Carnahan also wrote the script.

J.J. Perry is back in the director's chair with the romantic action comedy The Killer's Game. Perry began his career working on the stunt side of the industry, having worked on everything from the original Mortal Kombat movies in the '90s to the Wesley Snipes-led Blade and Three Kings before working his way up to being a stunt coordinator and second unit director on such hits as Tom Hardy's Warrior to The Fate of the Furious and John Wick: Chapter 2. Perry recently took a major step forward with his directorial debut in the Jamie Foxx-led Day Shift, which garnered mixed-to-positive reviews.

Dave Bautista has been a popular staple of cinema thanks to his roles in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Dune and Knock at the Cabin, but his latest action comedy is now hoping a quick digital release will help redeem it. The Killer's Game was released in cinemas on September 13, but became one of his worst performing movies, taking just $5.9 million at the box office. Now the film is getting a very quick turnaround and heading to digital platforms on October 4.
The Killers Game seems, on paper, to be exactly the kind of movie that Bautistas fans have been lapping up a full-on action movie with a dash of comedy. The story follows hitman Joe Flood, who discovers that he is dying from a terminal illness. Rather than meet his maker due to this, Flood puts out a hit on himself, only to discover that he was misdiagnosed and...

September has been a big month for Terry Crews, who this year marks 25 years in Hollywood, having gotten his start on the American Gladiators-style competition show Battle Dome in 1999. The role of T-Money perfectly aligned with the America’s Got Talent (AGT) host’s dream of one day being an action movie star, a goal which was once again realized with his part in longtime friend Dave Bautista’s action-comedy The Killer’s Game.
Crews stars as assassin Creighton Lovedahl in the J.J. Perry-directed film that released on Sept. 13 — Crews and Perry previously worked together on 2014’s The Expendables 3. Based on the 1997 novel of the same name by Jay Bonansinga, The Killer’s Game centers on a veteran assassin (Bautista) trying to outlive a hit he put out on himself after learning he incorrectly received a terminal diagnosis. Ex-WWE wrestler turned actor, Dave Bautista has had a long, successful career. He grew from one of the most well-known wrestlers in American sporting history to landing impressive roles in some pretty big films over the past 12 years. Unfortunately for Batista, his first major lead action role in a film has since crashed impressively quickly at the box office. This has since begged the question, why did The Killer's Game suffer such a crash at the box office, even when Bautista was given to audiences in full action mode?
Released in September 2024, The Killer's Game had the misfortune of being released alongside some heavy hitters for September, including James Watkins' Speak No Evil. This, including its critical reception and poorly received writing, set The Killer's Game up for a box office crash. Despite this, some have wondered whether The Killer's Game really was a record-breaking box office failure or...

Even with Knock at the Cabin and Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista fronting it, action outing The Killer's Game has unceremoniously bombed at the box office. Bautista is typically part of an ensemble in his movies, and The Killer's Game was never going to hold a candle to a Guardians of the Galaxy or Dune flick, which could be part of the reason why the movie has floundered. One would also be hard-pressed to name any advertising they'd seen for it prior to the week of its release.
Even with Bautista, Rebel Moon's Sofia Boutella, fellow Guardians of the Galaxy vet Pom Klementieff, Deadpool 2's Terry Crews, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' Ben Kingsley, and superstar Ice Cube, The Killer's Game was undoubtedly the big loser of an already slow weekend at the box office. It opened in sixth place with $2.6 million at 2,623 theaters.

Dave Bautista is back on the big screen with the release of his newest movie The Killer's Game. While the film has a rocky opening with the critics, filmgoers appear to be having a much better time with it.
On Rotten Tomatoes, The Killer's Game is currently scored at 33% on the Tomatometer. It's not a good place to be for a new film making its debut, but the good news is that the Popcornmeter, which refers to the collective score garnered by user-submitted reviews, is sitting at 77%. A difference of nearly 50 points is remarkable and could be seen as a sign that many filmgoers will enjoy The Killer's Game, even if a variety of critics did not.

It’s still the ghost with the most money at the box office this weekend, with “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” retaining the top slot on domestic charts in its second weekend. Universal’s horror play “Speak No Evil” is putting up a modest but solid performance as runner-up though, with $4.9 million from 3,375 locations across Friday and preview screenings.
That puts it on the higher side of tracking for a $10 million to $13 million opening, which the James McAvoy vehicle had drawn before the weekend. It’s a strong start for the Blumhouse Productions thriller, especially on a typically lean budget of $15 million. Reviews have been strong for the James Watkins-directed remake, which nearly functions as a scene-for-scene (to a point) recreation of the breakthrough Danish thriller of the same name from two years ago. Public sentiment is good, too, with audience survey firm Cinema Score determining a B+ grade — a pretty positive aggregate for a horror movie,...

Dave Bautista's new action movie has franchise potential, and here's whether The Killer's Game has a post-credits scene teasing more. The 2024 action film spent decades in development before Bautista managed to help get it made. By teaming up with Lionsgate, the movie adaptation of Jay Bonansinga's 1997 novel is one that, on the surface, looks like it could become a new franchise. Bautista is no stranger to action franchises, and The Killer's Game's cast is loaded with talent that could factor into more adventures set in the assassin world.
The story of The Killer's Game revolves around Bautista's Joe Flood as the assassin fights to survive after he places a hit on himself after a terminal misdiagnosis. As he fights off different assassins and looks to protect himself and Sofia Boutella's Maize, an entire assassin network is established that could be developed further with sequels or spinoffs.

The Killer’s Game, based on Jay Bonansinga’s 1997 novel of the same name, marks J.J. Perry’s second directorial effort. Perry made his bones in Hollywood with stunt work. Stuntman, stunt coordinator, fight choreographer, you name it, he’s done it. With 2022’s Day Shift, he made the transition to director, following in the footsteps of other stunt workers, like Chad Stahelski, Sam Hargrave, and David Leitch, to name a few. And while The Killer’s Game doesn’t measure up to the highs of some of his fellow stuntmen-turned-directors, it’s still a fun enough action-comedy romp.

Dave Bautista's latest film, The Killer's Game, will have fans of the original book "feel[ing] like they just did Acid."
The movie follows Batista's Joe Flood, a hitman with a strict moral code who is told he's going to die due to a terminal illness. It turns out that was a misdiagnosis––but Joe doesn't learn this until after he's already put out a hit on himself so that his girlfriend can collect his life insurance.
The original story was actually written all the way back in 1997 by Jay Bonansinga. One of the key differences between the two is how over-the-top, comedic, and bombastic Lionsgate's take on, while the book is a little more toned down.

In the new movie The Killer's Game, Dave Bautista is joined by an old friend from his professional wrestling days. Making his feature film debut in the movie is Drew McIntyre, one of WWE's biggest stars.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bautista addressed McIntyre's casting in the film. Bautista, who has since retired from pro wrestling, shared how he was the one who suggested McIntyre's casting to director J.J. Perry. While the two have been friends for decades, the casting came about as McIntyre just happened to perfectly fit the bill of what Perry was looking for with that character. Once Perry got a look at McIntyre in action in WWE, he agreed to the casting, and that led to giving the Scottish pro wrestler an offer to join the film.

Former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista brought a long-gestating action thriller to theaters after persevering through many delays. The movie “The Killer’s Game” is based on the novel of the same name by Jay Bonansinga. It follows an assassin named Joe Flood who must race against time to call off a hit he hired on himself after receiving a false terminal illness diagnosis.
The film project has been in development for over two decades. As early as 2002, New Line Cinema approached Wesley Snipes to star in the lead role after his success in “Blade II.” However, Snipes left in 2004 when the studio could not lock down a director. Paramount Pictures later got involved and tried to get the movie made with actor Michael Keaton and screenwriter Simon Kinberg, but their effort ended in 2006 with the shutdown of their partners.
Another attempt came in 2018 when Jason Statham nearly took the lead role at STX Films.

Dave Bautista stars in a new action movie, The Killer's Game, and he does what Jason Statham, Michael Keaton, and Wesley Snipes could not in the process. The 2024 movie puts Bautista back in the familiar territory of being an action star. After his breakout role in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, the WWE wrestler-turned-actor gained attention in Hollywood as a potential leading man in the genre thanks to his muscular build and natural physical abilities. This ultimately led him to land the lead role in The Killer's Game and get a chance to headline a long-gestating project.

It wasn’t the action that piqued Dave Bautista’s interest in The Killer’s Game; it was the chance to play a proper romantic lead for the very first time. Like a lot of actors, Bautista is most intrigued by the roles that frighten him, and so the chance to play lovestruck assassin Joe Flood was something he’d been committed to intermittently since 2019. Based on The Killer’s Game novel by Jay Bonansinga, Flood is diagnosed with a neurodegenerative brain condition that leaves him with only months to live, so he takes out a contract on his own life so that the love of his life, Maize (Sofia Boutella), can collect his life insurance policy. The rub is that he was misdiagnosed by three different labs and it’s too late to cancel said contract.

Dave Bautista tackles a John Wick-style assassin film with humor in The Killer's Game, premiering September 13th. Bautista's role as Joe Flood promises thrills and laughs as he takes on a guild of assassins in this action comedy. While John Wick's future remains uncertain, Bautista provides comic relief in a familiar premise for action movie fans.
Dave Bautista's upcoming film tries its hand at a premise evocative of the John Wick movies and in a manner the world may need right now. Bautista's new endeavor comes at an uncertain time for the John Wick franchise, as Keanu Reeves' title character presumably died at John Wick: Chapter 4s end, and the franchise appears to be sealing his fate with moves toward spinoff projects centered on anyone but him. Whether John Wick fans will be interested in subsequent entries without John Wick is to be decided, making the franchise's...

Lionsgate has launched the first official trailer for J. J. Perry's upcoming action comedy The Killer's Game, which is every bit as bloody as you'd expect as we see Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy; Dune; Blade Runner 2049) step into the shoes of an assassin who must survive the aftereffects of a hit he put out on himself.
As per the synopsis, "when top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella) , he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it’s too late."

Dave Bautista is set to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of The Killer's Game, which just got even more exciting thanks to its ties to a $4.5 billion franchise. Over the past ten years, Bautista has become a familiar face on the big screen, thanks to his roles in several big film franchises. Terry Crews is a serial entertainer. The energetic actor has a muscular physique that action icons Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were impressed with when they worked with him on The Expendables franchise. However, despite the hulking image, Crews would not limit himself to action movies as he would use his charismatic charm for such sitcoms like Everybody Hates Chris and Are We There Yet?, as well as being the host for the reality competition, America’s Got Talent. Crews is now ready to throw some fists and let the bullets fly yet again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crews will be seen in an upcoming action-comedy that will co-star the equally charismatic muscleman, Dave Bautista. Crews and Bautista have recently wrapped filming on The Killer’s Game.
