Liam Neeson Gets Absurd in New ‘Naked Gun’ Poster That Mocks AI and Teases His Comedy Turn
Image
A brand-new Naked Gun movie is on the way, and this time Liam Neeson is stepping into the world of silly crime-fighting as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. The film is set to come out in U.S. theaters on August 1, 2025, and it promises a mix of throwback jokes and new characters that aim to bring back the goofy fun of the original films.

The director is Akiva Schaffer, who also co-wrote the script along with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. According to Paramount Pictures, this will be the fourth movie in the series, following 1994’s Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult.

Instead of a reboot, it’s being called a legacy sequel, meaning it continues the story but with a new generation. Neeson plays the son of Leslie Nielsen’s iconic detective character.

Miguel Arteta To Helm Adaptation Of Amanda Eyre Ward’s Bestseller ‘Sleep Toward Heaven’
Image
Exclusive: Miguel Arteta, the Independent Spirit Award winner behind titles like Beatriz at Dinner and Chuck & Buck, has found his next project in Sleep Toward Heaven, a feature adaptation of the bestselling debut novel by Amanda Eyre Ward, which he’ll helm as writer-director.

Published in 2003, Sleep Toward Heaven tells the story of three disparate women, whose lives collide in the aftermath of a crime during a brutal Texas summer. The critically acclaimed novel launched Ward’s career as a New York Times bestseller, which has seen her novels land on Reese’s Book Club and be optioned by wiip, Fox Searchlight and Sandra Bullock.

Said Arteta, “Amanda’s novel feels as resonant and necessary as it did when it was first published – maybe even more so, as we long to find humanity and connection in a fractured world. I wanted to adapt the novel myself because I fell in...

The Naked Gun Trailer: Justice Has a New Daddy (& His Name Is Liam Neeson)
Image
Paramount has released an official trailer for The Naked Gun. The movie serves as a reboot of the film trilogy and short-lived TV series that starred Leslie Nielsen.

Liam Neeson is the only man with the particular set of skills necessary to update Police Squad for the 21st century. After the Taken franchise cemented Neeson as one of this generation's leading action icons, the actor has starred in several successful movies for the genre, such as The Grey, Non-Stop, Run All Night, The Commuter, and Cold Pursuit. However, The Naked Gun is the first action movie to really make good use of Neeson's comedic skills, with the actor starring in the reboot as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Nielsen's character of the same name. While the official trailer features a lot of the same footage and jokes from the teaser trailer, there are still plenty of new laughs to go around.

Liam Neeson Puts the Laughter Into Manslaughter in New 'The Naked Gun' Reboot Trailer
Image
Get ready to rock out with your Glock out. Liam Neeson's Frank Drebin Jr. is on the case in the first gag-filled trailer for The Naked Gun. The reboot of the slapstick comedy series will hit theaters on August 1, 2025. In the trailer, Drebin Jr. is the son of the franchise's original protagonist, Frank Drebin Sr., and he's just as violent, accident-prone, and generally ridiculous as his predecessor. Now, he's on the trail of a murderer, thanks to femme fatale Pamela Anderson, but that plot's just an excuse for a series of slapstick gags in the goofball spirit of the franchise.

As he crusades for justice, Drebin pokes fun at Neeson's tough-guy image, beating a man with his own severed arms, pulling his sidearm to get into a bathroom, and interrogating a suspect who did twenty years for "man's laughter." But his new case is no joke: if Drebin can't...

Netflix is dropping 18 movies and series this week
Image
For some sad reason, Netflix has chosen to delete more shows than normal in the third week of the month. While 18 series or movies leaving the streaming isn't nearly as bad as the end of any given month, it's still a lot.

Perhaps the biggest loss of the week is that the first eight seasons of Dexter are leaving. There have been two sequels to the series, Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Original Sin, but neither of those is available on Netflix either.

The first three seasons of The Equalizer are going away, too. The Queen Latifah-led series has five seasons total, but there will be no more. The show was canceled after its fifth season, and the finale aired on May 4, 2025.

18 movies and series are leaving Netflix in the third week of June 2025

The well-received documentary on Fred Rogers, Won't You Be My Neighbor? is also saying goodbye. It...

Five Sitcoms That Replaced A Character With Pretty Much the Exact Same Character
Image
When Roseanne Barr was fired from the rebooted Roseanne in 2018, the producers decided that, in order to continue, the series would need to change. Instead of the sarcastic loudmouth Roseanne Conner as the center of her family, John Goodman’s Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf’s Jackie Harris and Sara Gilbert’s Darlene Conner stepped in to fill the void, making it a show with a bit less attitude and an increased focus on grief in light of Barr’s character’s death. These changes allowed the show — now rebranded as The Conners — to last for seven seasons.

However, not all shows are smart enough to fully pivot after a cast departure. Instead, many just end up replacing that person with a new character who has pretty much the exact same personality. The hope, presumably, is to keep whatever dynamics a show already possesses.

Here are some of the best — and worst — examples…...

'The Office' Star Ed Helms Teases Potential Return in Upcoming Reboot 'The Paper'
Image
NBC's upcoming The Office reboot, titled The Paper, is slowly rounding out its cast. Domnhall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore will lead the new series. It has already been confirmed that Oscar Nunez will reprise his role as Oscar from The Office in the new reboot. Oscar is the only original actor confirmed to appear in the reboot, so far. The new series will follow a failing Midwestern newspaper company that tries to save itself by hiring new volunteer reporters. But one of those volunteers could be a Cornell University graduate, as Ed Helms is the latest The Office star to address the new reboot.

Ed Helms recently appeared on The View (via TV Insider), and was asked whether Andy "The Nard Dog" Bernard would be back in The Paper. Helms began by saying that he was currently unaware of Andy returning for the upcoming series. "I have zero intel on that,...

“It’s Gonna Be Incredible”: Ed Helms Reveals Whether Andy Will Return for ‘The Office’ Spin-off, ‘The Paper’
Image
Will the ‘Nard Dog rise again in The Officesequel series The Paper? Ed Helms isn’t quite certain one way or the other, but he remains hopeful. While swinging by The View, the actor faced questions about his potential return to the Greg Daniels-developed universe that once gave us the many different and entertaining personalities in the NBC hit series. “I have zero intel on that, I’m sorry to say,” Helms told the hosts of the daytime series.

“And I also don’t know yet if Andy will be making an appearance. I haven’t heard. No one’s called.”

Manifesting the energetic, harmony-creating character’s return, Helms said that he “hopes” the creative team will find some space for Andy, adding, “I’m just gonna float that energy out there right now.” Whether or not he makes an appearance in The Paper, Helms remains certain that the...

12 Years Later and We Still Miss These 12 Things About “The Office”
Image
It’s been 12 years since The Office ended, yet here we are, still quoting Michael Scott at inappropriate moments, debating whether Jim was a good guy, and still feeling secondhand embarrassment from Scott’s Tots. Some shows fade into the background, but this one? It’s forever stapled (probably into Jell-o) in our hearts.

Where else could you find a boss who accidentally declares bankruptcy out loud, a beet farmer enforcing office martial law, and a receptionist who somehow puts up with all of it? From Kevin’s tragic chili spill to the utter enigma that was Creed, The Office was a chaotic masterpiece. And let’s be real, no actual workplace has ever lived up to the madness of Dunder Mifflin.

So, what do we miss most? The pranks? The cringe? The world’s most awkward romance? All of the above.

Kelly Ripa shares why Live with Kelly and Mark is on a short break
Image
Live with Kelly and Mark did not live up to its name recently when fans tuned in at the beginning of a new week, only to be met with a “prerecorded” disclaimer at the bottom of the screen.

While Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos typically prerecord most end-of-the-week episodes to take extended weekend breaks, things were different this time.

Kelly and Mark jet off to Palm Springs during these weekend breaks or travel to Michigan to see their son, Joaquin Consuelos, at the University of Michigan.

As Monsters and Critics reported, even their trips to Michigan may end since Kelly and Mark’s son is graduating soon.

Kelly and Mark took extra time off and prerecorded their show, not because of Palm Springs or Michigan, but because of another frequent stop for the jet-setting couple.

Kelly shared on her Instagram account that she and Mark took a work trip to their beloved Italy,...

Tina Fey and Steve Carell Explain How Their ‘Four Seasons’ Cast Became a Family
Image
“The Four Seasons” may be about three couples who make up a close-knit friend group but at its core, it’s a show about chosen families. That remains true for the superstar cast as well, who discussed growing into a family themselves at the Netflix premiere on Thursday night in Los Angeles.

“From Day 1 — you hear it a lot, but it’s actually true this time — we definitely loved each other from the get-go,” Steve Carell told TheWrap. “It was a great, great experience. It’s true, very special.”

Carell stars alongside Tina Fey, Will Forte, Marco Calvani, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Colman Domingo (who was not present for the DGA red carpet and two-episode screening).

Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and more on the ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience of filming ‘The Four Seasons’
Image
Modern comedy legends turned out for the premiere of Netflix’s new miniseries The Four Seasons on Thursday night in Hollywood.

Co-created by Tina Fey, the show follows a group of longtime friends and middle-class couples as they vacation together at different times of the year. Adapting the 1981 Alan Alda rom-com of the same name gave Fey the opportunity to curate a cast full of comedy heavyweights, as well as new and old film legends. The show's stars bonded fast, according to Kerri Kenney-Silver, who plays hesitant housewife Anne.

"We had a crew member say to us on the second day, 'Tell me about where you guys rehearsed or where you've worked together before,' and I was like, 'I've never met any of these people ever before in my life," she told Gold Derby on the carpet. "Some of the group had not met before. It’s all in the writing.

8 Times ‘SNL’ Cast Members Made Weirdly Unexpected Cameos in Music Videos
Image
It’s the Inverse Law of Entertainment: All musicians want to be comedians, and all comedians want to be musicians. Most comics aren’t blessed with musical talent, but some still get a taste by appearing in the videos of their favorite artists. Saturday Night Live cast members, probably thanks to their musical heroes guesting on the show, get more chances than most.

Here are eight times that SNL comedians randomly pop up in music videos by iconic artists…

1 Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler

The Beastie Boys’ “Make Some Noise” video is full of comedy cameos, including Seth Rogen, Jack Black, Rashida Jones, Will Arnett, Rainn Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Mary Steenburgen, Ted Danson and David Cross. SNL is well represented as well with Ferrell as the future Ad-Rock, Rudolph as a lady hitting on Danny McBride and Poehler as a sneering bistro patron.

2 Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte Play

The Naked Gun: Release Date, Cast, Plot, and All You Need to Know About Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson’s Action Comedy
Image
1988’s The Naked Gun is making a comeback, but will it capture the same magic as the original? Most comedies now feel the need to sneak in a life lesson, and silliness, wordplay, or casual gags have largely been pushed aside. The Naked Gun, however, worked because it didn’t particularly care too much about those things. It just wanted to be funny.

With Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson stepping into the franchise as fresh faces, the 2025 Naked Gun reboot is officially set to hit theaters on August 1, 2025. Originally scheduled for July 18, 2025, the release date was shifted by a couple of weeks, likely to accommodate studio scheduling conflicts, including the rescheduling of Vicious, another Paramount project. Here’s everything we know so far about the new Naked Gun.

The Naked Gun Reboot: Release Date, Cast, Plot And More Details
Image
If you were to compile a list of the best parody movies ever made, you would be hard pressed to find one that doesn't include "The Naked Gun" on it. The hilarious riff on procedural cop shows initially started out as "Police Squad!," a hilarious six-episode television comedy series from David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker whose only crime was being ahead of its time. Although the triage had no such luck making it play to audiences on the small screen, the short-lived series proved to be incredibly successful in movie theaters in the form of 1988's "The Naked Gun," which brought back Leslie Nielsen to reprise his role as the bumbling Detective Lt. Frank Drebin.

The David Zucker-directed film not only jumpstarted Nielsen's comedy career after his memorable role in "Airplane!," but it also led to two sequels: "The Naked Gun 2 ½: The Smell of Fear...

What’s Happening Behind the Scenes?

Whoopi Goldberg, once known primarily for her award-winning acting and stand-up career, has worn the hat of co-host on The View since 2007. Over the years, both she and fellow co-host Joy Behar have occasionally stepped back from filming.

That’s not particularly unusual—they’re both on a flexible four-day work week. But fans did notice something rare recently: Goldberg taped an episode on a Friday,...

Ed Helms Joins Indigenous Hockey Film Smudge the Blades
Cody Lightning
Filming has begun in Edmonton on Smudge the Blades, a sports dramedy from writer-director Cody Lightning. The feature centers on the Treaty 6 Blades, an under-18 Indigenous hockey team facing their last season in a rough northern Alberta league.

New additions to the cast include Ed Helms (The Hangover), Paulina Alexis (Reservation Dogs), and Jana Schmieding (Rutherford Falls). Lightning stars as Willie Gladue, a Zamboni driver who finds himself behind the bench as the team’s unexpected coach. Schmieding plays a hockey mom who becomes his love interest.

Lightning, who also co-wrote the script with Samuel Miller, described the significance of the setting and subject matter. “Rez hockey in Canada is bigger than high school football in Texas,” he said. “I’m so honored to have this incredible cast to bring to life the experiences of Indigenous hockey players, on and off the ice.”

A trio of performers have joined the cast of sports feature Smudge the Blades from writer-director Cody Lightning.

Ed Helms (The Hangover), Paulina Alexis (Reservation Dogs) and Jana Schmieding (Rutherford Falls) star alongside Lightning. Production recently began in Edmonton, Canada, with the film aiming to hit the 2026 festival circuit.

Smudge the Blades centers on the Treaty 6 Blades, an under-18 reservation hockey team hoping to make the most of the members’ final year of eligibility amid their violent league in northern Alberta. Samuel Miller co-wrote the script with Lightning.

“Rez hockey in Canada is bigger than high school football in Texas,” says Lightning, known for his role on Marvel’s Echo. “I’m so honored to have this incredible cast to bring to life the experiences of Indigenous hockey players, on and off the ice.”

The film underwent a wide casting effort for the young Indigenous hockey players. Landing key roles...

The Naked Gun Reboot Trailer: Liam Neeson Is the 'New Version' of Frank Drebin
Image
Only one man has the particular set of skills to lead the new The Naked Gun movie. Liam Neeson succeeds Leslie Nielsen as Lt. Frank Drebin in the first trailer for the hotly-anticipated action comedy reboot.

The official teaser trailer for the new The Naked Gun begins with Drebin foiling a bank robbery after sneaking into the building disguised as a schoolgirl licking a lollypop. After taking care of the robbers, one of the hostages asks who he is, with Neeson's character responding, "Frank Drebin, Police Squad." He then breaks the fourth wall by looking directly at the camera and uttering, "The new version." The teaser then confirms that it will actually be a legacy sequel to the original film trilogy, with Neeson and Paul Walter Hauser playing the similarly named sons of Nielsen's Frank Drebin and George Kennedy's Captain Ed Hocken, respectively. The trailer even manages to...

‘The Naked Gun’ Trailer: Liam Neeson Reboots the Franchise, Slaughters Bad Guys and Mocks O.J. Simpson
Image
An official trailer for “The Naked Gun” reboot is here, and brings with it a special set of skills: absurdist comedy, glossy action aesthetics, Liam Neeson in polkadot briefs and a school girl uniform and, naturally, an O.J. Simpson joke.

Neeson stars as Frank Drebin Jr., the son of legendary goofball cop and franchise father Leslie Nielsen. In a brief clip shared online and at CinemaCon, the annual convention of movie theater owners, Neeson brings Nielsen’s brand of crimefighting to a new generation of audiences.

In the midst of a tense heist where police officers are attempting to seize bank robbers, we see a little girl with an oversized lollipop casually walk through the standoff.

“What do you want, little one?” asks a bad guy toting a machine gun. “Your ass,” says the child, before ripping off a face mask to reveal Neeson. The lollipop stick becomes a deadly...

‘The Naked Gun’ Trailer: Liam Neeson Takes Over for Leslie Nielsen in Comedy Reboot
Image
Paramount Pictures dropped the first look at the studio’s “The Naked Gun” remake on Thursday with the film’s first trailer, introducing Liam Neeson as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the iconic comedy character played by Leslie Nielsen in the original franchise.

Akiva Schaffer, one third of The Lonely Island, co-wrote and directs the film which follows Drebin Jr. as he leads the Police Squad and, of course, must save the world.

While a teaser was released on YouTube, attendees at CinemaCon got to see an early look at an upcoming full trailer in which Neeson teases his past work in the “Taken” films, warning that when you take a life, there’s no going back. “It’s a moment that makes you say…that was awesome!”

And in a biting moment, as we see members of the Police Squad cry over a picture of the deceased Captain Ed Hocken,...

Adult Swim's Medical Show Is A Hilarious Palate Cleanser For The Pitt Fans
Image
While the movie business has experienced a concerning degree of commercial and critical turbulence over the first three months of 2025, television has stepped up to provide entertainment seekers an impressive array of captivating new series, as well as stellar new seasons from returning shows. "Severance" just stuck the landing at the end of its celebrated second season, "The White Lotus" is back doing its darkly comedic thing with possibly its strongest cast to date, and "The Studio" is a brilliantly brutal Hollywood satire that takes no prisoners in showing viewers how the showbiz sausage is made.

Hence, it's a very high compliment to suggest that the new Max hospital drama, "The Pitt," might be the best of the '25 bunch thus far. Created by R. Scott Gemmill, a TV writing veteran who got his start on "ER" before taking the showrunning reins on "NCIS: Los Angeles," the show is a...

Why Dwight Didn't Replace Michael As Regional Manager On The Office
Image
On April 28, 2011, Michael Scott left Scranton, Pa for the Colorado Rockies, Steve Carell left "The Office," and the world was never the same. The move came seven seasons into the show, and it left the popular NBC sitcom at a crossroads. Who should take the dynamic regional manager's place? Who was worthy? In the end, the answer, of course, was Andy Bernard, but it turns out that Ed Helms' character wasn't a shoo-in for the job. On the contrary, many of the show's creators thought Dwight Schrute should have gotten the nod.

"The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s" revealed (via Uproxx) that many of the writers hinted — and some even flat out claimed — that it was the comparative box office power of Ed Helms that helped him land the highly coveted promotion. Writer Brent Forrester heavily implied as much when he said:

"The writers and the cast,...

Why Zach Woods Never Wants To Play The Office's Gabe Again
Image
Many actors from "The Office" are known for playing beloved characters like Pam (Jenna Fischer), Dwight (Rainn Wilson), Michael (Steve Carell), and Jim (John Krasinski). Others are associated with, well, let's say, less attractive fictional individuals. Zach Woods, unfortunately, falls into the latter category. Woods portrayed Gabe Lewis for several of the later seasons of the Scranton-based super-sitcom, and his character managed to go from bad to worse as time went by. After an awkwardly dominant start, Gabe devolved into a running joke (both with real-life audiences and with his Dunder Mifflin co-workers) as the lanky sad sack's story waffled between his foibles as an ineffective leader and his uncomfortably tragic non-starter of a personal life.

"The Office" wrapped up shop in 2013, and since then, several actors have talked about their time on the show or, in Carell's case, why they left the cherished NBC sitcom when they did. On...

Ricky Gervais Clarifies 'The Office US' David Brent/Michael Scott Casting Rumor
Image
The Officeintroduced audiences to the "World's Greatest Boss," Michael Scott (played by Steve Carell). But, when the actor left after Season 7, Dunder Mifflin had to find a new regional manager. Ricky Gervais, who co-created the British original series and played its version of Scott, named David Brent, was one actor rumored to take over from Scott. During a recent interview to celebrate The Office's 20th anniversary (feel old yet?), Gervais addressed his potential casting in the US version of the show and put a long-running rumor to rest.

Speaking to The Independent, Ricky Gervais was asked about the rumors surrounding his "failed" audition for The Office to replace Steve Carell. The comedian and actor confirmed that he was in talks to reprize his role as David Brent in the US version. However, press outlets and fans took those initial conversations and the end result wildly out of context. "When...

‘New Girl’ Cast: What Are They Doing in 2025?
Image
Back when New Girl first aired in 2011, we as audiences were introduced to Zooey Deschanel’s eccentric teacher Jessica Day, who moved into an apartment loft with three single men, following her bad breakup.

And in the aftermath of her relocation, it was the unexpected events and the roommates/dysfunctional family dynamics that turned the sitcom into a major hit.

A still from New Girl | image: 20th Century Fox Television

So now, after almost a decade, as former co-stars, Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield had a mini-reunion at this year’s SAG Awards, it became a major nostalgic moment for the New Girl fans. Not to mention, back in 2024, Jake Johnson, Greenfield, and Lamorne Morris had even admitted to being open to the idea of coming back.

But sadly, as the revival is yet to happen, let’s take a look at the main cast of New Girl, and what...

“Why are we in Paris right now?”: The Hangover Part 4 Writes Itself, Seth Rogen’s Wild Drug-Fueled International Rampage is One for the History Books
Image
Apart from the big screen, Hollywood stars have several personal stories that are equally entertaining, if not more. In this, Seth Rogen’s funny international escapade would definitely be in the top three. The actor, known for his comedic roles, could have truly inspired the fourth installment of The Hangover. While in the movies the cast woke up to tigers and missing teeth, Rogen actually ended up in an entirely different country.

This time, instead of marijuana, he tried something even stronger, and it’s safe to say that his journey after that was quite interesting, to say the least.

How Seth Rogen’s Amsterdam trip turned into a Hangover-style adventure

Ed Helms Was the Worst Victim in One of the Best Episodes of ‘The Office’ Featuring a Steve Carell Masterclass: “It’s just disgusting”
Image
No one expected one of the most iconic The Office episodes from Season 3, Beach Games, to turn into ‘Survivor: Hot Dog Edition’. But what was supposed to be Michael Scott’s chaotic competition for choosing his next Branch Manager, turned into a nauseating behind-the-scenes experience for Ed Helms.

Ed Helms in a still from The Office | Image: NBC

While fans laughed at Andy’s unfortunate floatie fiasco and Dwight’s intensity, Ed Helms claimed to be facing a different nightmare. Picture this: a bucket filled with chewed-up hot dogs. Gross, right? Thanks to his overactive gag reflex, Helms endured a real-life Fear Factor moment while shooting Beach Games. And now, we can’t decide what’s worse—losing the manager race or surviving that puke-inducing experience.

'Reacher's Anthony Michael Hall Got His Breakout Role in a Hit Comedy
Image
Prime Video's hit Reacher is in the middle of its third season. As with the previous seasons, the new outing brings a host of new main characters. One of these is rug importer Zachary Beck, who offers Reacher a job after he saves Beck's son Richard. Beck is played by Anthony Michael Hall, who's enjoyed a nearly 40-year career in the industry.

That's right, Gen-x readers, the 1980s were four decades ago. Take a minute to process that if you need to. Hall was one of that decade's biggest teen stars, with appearances in Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science. He was a frequent collaborator with John Hughes, the king of '80s coming-of-age teen comedies. That partnership set Hall up for lifelong success, which is still an impressive feat in today's industry. Of those early parts, Sixteen Candles really gave Hall his breakout role. He followed that...

Demi Moore's Horror Film 'Corporate Animals' is Now Available on Shudder
Image
Demi Moore has been making a comeback of the ages, with her performance in the body horror hit, The Substance, earning her multiple awards, including a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress. But The Substance isn't the only recent body horror film she has starred in. In 2019, she appeared in another thriller, Corporate Animals, and it's currently available on horror streamer, Shudder.

The movie follows an abusive, egomaniac CEO named Lucy (Moore) as she leads employees from her company, Incredible Edibles, on a team-building exercise to try and save the business. The co-workers go spelunking in New Mexico, with Lucy deciding they need to on a much more advanced route, against the better judgment of the guide, Brandon (Ed Helms). What follows is a bizarre attempt at lampooning corporate culture that descends into cannibalism and chaos, plus an utterly bizarre dream sequence with Helms and co-star...

Steve Carell Might Not Return, but Oscar Nuñez’s ‘The Office’ Spinoff Can’t Afford to Skip These 3 Actors
Image
Adaptations of TV shows do not always end up working, but the American version of The Office stands as an exception. One of the most beloved sitcoms based on the Brit series of the same name, the series is soon getting a new spinoff starring the Og star, Oscar Nuñez.

While we will have Nuñez back, unfortunately, we won’t be getting one of The Office‘s most popular actors, Steve Carell. Given that it has some big shoes to fill and high expectations from the loyal fanbase, the upcoming spinoff should bring back some key cast members. These three key actors can not only attract fans but also bring back the charm and humor that made the Og American series a cultural phenomenon in the first place.

Peacock's The Office reboot is bringing back an original star (just not the one we expected)
Image
Yeppers, it's true! The Office reboot just confirmed its first returning star, and the excitement for the in-the-works continuation series has officially increased. Obviously, all of us fans are excited to see what's in store for the upcoming Peacock follow-up of the beloved sitcom, but let's be honest, we're all waiting to find out who from the original could be coming back.

Well, our first Dunder Mifflin alum has boarded the reboot to reprise his character: Oscar Nuñez will bring back his character Oscar Martinez. Variety notes that Oscar will not be a central character in the new series set in the same universe as all our favorite characters. Additionally, he's been part of the pilot script from the beginning and will be in the mix with the other new characters.

Even though Oscar might not have been our first draft pick for a returnee in The Office offshoot, he's...

Oscar Nuñez Reprising ‘The Office’ Role in Peacock’s Follow-Up Series
Image
Oscar Nuñez will return as Oscar Martinez in Peacock’s follow-up series to “The Office,” Variety has confirmed.

Sources say Nuñez will not be the central character in the upcoming mockumentary sitcom — which takes place in the same universe as “The Office” — as it is an ensemble series. But he is part of the show’s character mix, and has been in the opening script from the beginning.

There are no further details regarding Oscar’s role or storyline in the new show, which Greg Daniels is creating and executive producing with Michael Korman (“Nathan For You”).

As of now, Nuñez is believed to be the only “Office” cast member who will appear in the follow-up series (right now still referred to as the “Untitled Daniels/Korman Project”) — but it has been noted that since it lives in the world of “The Office,” there was always a chance that characters...
