He is a state senator in New Jersey and has previously served as a local prosecutor; deputy mayor of Jersey City, New Jersey; and a sergeant in the U.S. Marines. He holds a Master of Public Policy from Princeton University; a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law; a Master of Liberal Arts from the University of Pennsylvania; and a Bachelor of Arts from Thomas Edison State University.
