Netflix is gearing up to unleash the long-awaited anime series adaptation of Mokumokuren’s hit psychological horror manga “The Summer Hikaru Died” this year, and the news comes with new images and character details.

The streamer hasn’t announced an official release date just yet, but the upcoming series will be available on Netflix worldwide in 2025.

The hit manga series followed “an ordinary high school boy, Yoshiki, who experiences various mysterious incidents in his life with Hikaru, a mysterious being who imitates his best friend Hikaru Indou. This year’s event will feature four main stages—Red, Green, Blue, and the newly introduced White stage, hosting a total of 52 programs over two days.

2024 was another great year for anime. It was filled with original stories, great set pieces, and plenty of interesting characters. Some characters got the limelight they deserved, taking center stage during 2024. Other characters were incredible but didn't get the attention they deserved, doing very well within their respective series but being overshadowed by big shows. Some of the most popular characters were obviously going to be big from the beginning, like Goku's resurgence in Dragon Ball Daima.

Other characters took the world by storm out of nowhere, like one of the best elves in anime Frieren from the legendary Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. While some characters got the screen time they deserved, others sat back and became largely underrated, giving people who didn't initially watch their shows a great reason to tune back in and see some of the best from 2024.

Crunchyroll has acquired the streaming rights to the dystopian horror-comedy anime, Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead.

The prominent streaming platform recently announced that it would begin simulcasting Zom 100 weekly on July 9, 2:00 Am Pt in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. Although these episodes will be subtitled, the series will later be dubbed into several major languages, including English, French, German, Italian and Latin American Spanish, among others. Crunchyroll unveiled a new trailer spotlighting protagonist Akira Tendo and several other major characters to commemorate the announcement.
