It’s almost been a year since Camila Cabello launched her album C, Xoxo with her hyper-pop, left-of-center single “I Luv It.” At first, it was hated by many, but now, it’s becoming somewhat of a cult favorite. The gig, dubbed “An Evening With Elton John & Brandi Carlile,” mixed a showcase of songs featured on their highly anticipated collaborative album Who Believes in Angels? with some of their respective greatest hits after the duo sat down to discuss their friendship and more with interviewer Dan Levy.
In a wide-ranging conversation, John discussed among other things Lgbtqia+ rights, wanting to support younger artists (he name-checked such recent success stories as Chappell Roan, Charli Xcx, and Sabrina Carpenter), how he owns an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 pairs of sunglasses, how he hopes the joint album will help Carlile reach a broader global audience, how he struggled getting started on their album due to the Israel-Gaza situation and what words he wants on his gravestone.

Chappell Roan opened up about a range of topics during her recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, including people’s expectations of her and how fans don’t come up to her in public anymore.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, who isn’t afraid to be outspoken about her opinions and beliefs, explained to host Alex Cooper how it can be a double-edged sword as people then expect her to know everything about every topic.
“People expect me to play by different rules because I’m gay and I should be more politically correct about that, and I should actually be way more knowledgeable about it,” Roan said. “So I get asked a lot of fucking crazy questions that a lot of my peers would not get asked. A young Chappell Roan could have never imagined the unabashed star she’d become as an adult. In a Rolling Stone exclusive clip of her Call Her Daddy interview, out Tuesday, the pop artist reflected on how “restricted” she felt in her youth and why her younger self would not believe who she is now.
“I don’t even know if my young self would be able to register that as a part of me. That’s how removed… I was so, so, so opposite of me now,” Roan told host Alex Cooper.

Season 23 of American Idol continued the audition phase on Sunday night as judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan traveled to New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville to find music's next superstar. The two-hour episode aired Sunday, March 23 (8 p.m. Et/Pt) with Ryan Seacrest hosting.
The night's most memorable moment belonged to Freddie McClendon, the 19-year-old son of Davis McClendon, a 46-year-old father of three who was murdered in 2023. "One of my favorite memories — I was around 15 years old and my dad took me to Nashville for the first time," Freddie said prior to his audition. "Seeing Music City and Broadway — he said, 'You know Freddie, that's gonna be you one day.' It's happening today!"
"I've been writing music since I was a freshman in high school," he told the judges. "I really started doing it seriously about a year ago when my dad passed away. My...

Season 23 of American Idol is well underway, and the auditions continued with more hopeful artists performing in front of the judges during Sunday’s (March 23) episode. Sometimes, a movie just needs to be brought back from the dead. Or at least that's the case for 2024's romantic comedy Lisa Frankenstein, the brainchild of Diablo Cody (fun fact: a pen name), and the directorial debut of Zelda Williams. Cody is the Academy-Award-winning writer of Juno, as well as many other female-empowering films like Young Adult, Ricky and the Flash, and, of course, the cult horror classic Jennifer's Body. Infamously, Jennifer's Body, which stars Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, suffered an egregious case of mismarketing prior to its release. The explicitly feminist, satirical film was packaged by the marketing team as a raunchy sex comedy to cater to male audiences, causing it to be panned by critics for not meeting expectations. Over time, Jennifer's Body has come to be loved for the hilarious and salient movie it always was.

The culturally inarticulate used to like to say they listened to everything except country, but these days, they don’t have much of a choice. Pop stars as influential as Beyonce and Post Malone have (phenomenally successful) country albums, and new and unconventional artists like Dasha and Shaboozey made TikTok unusable this last summer if you weren’t willing to line dance, at least on the inside. Now, even Chappell Roan has a country song. Obviously, it whips.
Despite the number of words a variety of think pieces have devoted to the topic, nobody seems to be able to explain why this is happening. Industry consensus is that the idea of genre just isn’t that important to modern audiences, but less than a decade ago, interest in country music was sharply declining when every other genre was only getting more popular. Billboard Names Taylor Swift As The Top Female Artist Of 21st Century (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Taylor Swift has officially cemented her place at the top of 21st-century music. It seems the Swifties now have more reason to celebrate after Billboard’s Top 100 Women Artists of the 21st Century crowned her the number one female artist. This title reflects her record-breaking success as a performer and her profound and undeniable impact on the industry.
Swift’s journey from a newcomer to becoming an international sensation has been nothing short of an inspiration. With a career that spanned nearly two decades (and still many more to come), the 35-year-old used her platform to advocate for artists’ rights and push conversations about women in music.

Global recorded music revenue increased by 4.8 percent in 2024, driven by a 9.5 percent jump in subscription streaming revenue, despite a “highly competitive market,” according to worldwide recording industry organization Ifpi. Figures released Wednesday in its Global Music Report show that total trade revenue reached $29.6 billion in 2024, marking the 10th consecutive year of growth.
Users of subscription accounts grew 10.6 percent to 752 million worldwide as of the end of last year, while advertising-supported streaming revenue grew by a more modest 1.2 percent, according to the Ifpi report.
Annual streaming revenue exceeded $20 billion for the first time with $20.4 billion, making this part of the sector “bigger than the entire recorded music industry revenues for each year between 2003 and 2020,” it highlighted. As a result, streaming accounted for 69 percent of total recorded music revenue in 2024.
Global performance rights revenue climbed 5.9 percent in 2024, marking the fourth consecutive year of growth, to reach $2.9 billion.

The Grammy Awards are supposed to be a night of celebrating musical excellence, honoring the best of the best, and delivering jaw-dropping performances. But the 2025 Grammys proved that for every iconic moment, there’s an equal (if not greater) amount of pure, unfiltered cringe.
From fashion choices that made us question reality to awkward red-carpet interviews, the night of the Grammy’s turned into a mix of super chaotic and baffling decisions. So, in honor of those head-scratching, secondhand embarrassment-inducing moments, here are the top 10 things we really wish we could unsee.
10. Taylor Swift avoids Kanye West
Taylor Swift, who was nominated for six awards at this year’s Grammy made headlines for narrowly avoiding an awkward run-in with rap mogul Kanye West. Considering how the duo have been silently feuding since the 2009 Video Music Awards, where West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech to praise Beyoncé, the two singers avoided interacting with each other.

Considering how the duo have been silently feuding since the 2009 Video Music Awards, where West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech to praise Beyoncé, the two singers avoided interacting with each other.

If the engagement ring Benny Blanco slipped onto Selena Gomez’s finger in December has sealed his fate as a stay-at-home husband, he considers it to be a pretty good deal. “That’s what I’m praying for,” the producer and songwriter, 37, says over Zoom from their Los Angeles residence. “I like to be domestic.”

Social media may be important in today’s entertainment world, as Maya Hawke recently lamented regarding dynamics between follower counts and the casting process, but it seems that even a cemented veteran, Scarlett Johansson, is not immune to pressures related to the digital sphere.
In a recent cover story for InStyle, the MCU alumna shared that she is often asked by film studios or her team to join Instagram to promote her projects.
“I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth?’ get a lot of pressure to join social media,” she explained, adding, “‘Is there a way I could do this and stay true to who I am?’ It didn’t feel like I could.”

Everybody hurts — except for Nathan Caine. And yes, the soundtrack for “Novocaine” has a lot of fun with that fact.
Now in theaters, “Novocaine” follows Nathan (Jack Quaid), an assistant bank manager who has a genetic condition making it so that he is incapable of feeling physical pain. While that may sound like a superhero, it actually comes with significant risks, so he’s basically lived his life in a bubble.
That is, until Sherry (Amber Midthunder) comes along. He quickly falls for her, and when she’s taken hostage during a bank robbery, Nathan sets off on a mission to find her, no matter what pain he may endure along the way (and there is a lot).
You’ll definitely recognize some of the songs that accompany that journey, too.

Chappell Roan is hard at work on new music!
While promoting her new country single “The Giver,” the 27-year-old Grammy-winning singer assured fans that she isn’t leaving pop music behind while reflecting on her longtime love of country music.
Keep reading to find out more…“I’m from southwest Missouri,” Chappell told Rolling Stone. “Grew up on Christian and country, and then found ‘Alejandro’ by Lady Gaga and I was like, ‘I think I like this, too.’ So, I have kept country in my heart. And it’s so incredibly nostalgic to drive in West Hollywood and [play] Jason Aldean or Alan Jackson’s ‘Chattahoochee.’”
She then went on to say that Big & Rich’s 2004 track “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” was a big inspiration while she worked on “The Giver.”
“I was like, ‘I want to feel that way on stage. I want to feel that,’” Chappell explained.

Chappell Roan is back and she’s turning up the country heat. This Friday, March 14, the Grammy winner released her hotly anticipated new single, “The Giver.” Inspired by the country artists Roan grew up on, “The Giver” is a percussive, sapphic anthem for the ladies fed up with the selfish men in their lives. Over a banjo and fiddle, Roan delivers on the sexy metaphors, letting the ladies know she’s not going to leave them unsatisfied like these “country boy quitters” will.

Disney has dropped a trailer for the “Freakier Friday” movie starring Jamie Lee Curtis (Tess) and Lindsay Lohan (Anna). It is a sequel to the 2003 remake of “Freaky Friday.”
This time it isn’t just Tess and Anna, now there is a four-way switch between them and Anna’s daughter Harper and Anna’s fiancé’s daughter, Lily as well.
It’s nice that this one is going to theaters first. Maybe Disney is learning that putting everything on Disney+ isn’t the best idea.
Here is the trailer,
I love that they play Chappell Roan’s “Hot To Go” at the end of the trailer. It’s a smart move to attract the Gen Z and Gen Alpha crowd.
Since they are crossing generations, it will also appeal to the Baby Boomers, Millennials, and Gen X crowd. The Millennials were the target for the 2003 film, and the other two...

The trailer for Freakier Friday has arrived. The movie is a legacy sequel to the 2003 comedy Freaky Friday, which adapted the book of the same name by Mary Rodgers and followed teenager Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan) accidentally switching bodies with her mother Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis). The upcoming Freakier Friday, which was directed by Nisha Ganatra, will expand the premise even more, following the duo switching bodies with Anna's daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and her boyfriend Eric's (Manny Jacinto) daughter Lily (Sophia Hammons).
Disney has now released the official trailer for Freakier Friday. It opens with Anna and Tess visiting a palm reader played by Vanessa Bayer, who recognizes that their life lines have crossed before, something that taught them "a lesson that may serve you again." When the four-way body swap occurs, hijinks ensue while Chappell Roan's "Hot To Go!" blares on the soundtrack, including the teenagers in...

Chappell Roan has finally dropped her rollicking country single, “The Giver.” After debuting the upbeat track on Saturday Night Live in November, Roan has been teasing the song for weeks, both on social media and on billboards around the U.S.

“All you country boys, saying you know to treat a woman right. Well, only a woman knows how to treat a woman right. She gets the job done,” pop superstar Chappell Roan sang on stage during her November Saturday Night Live set.
The 27-year-old Grammy winner for best new artist, in head-to-toe pink cowgirl garb, performed her then-unreleased new track, “The Giver.” Now, four months later, Roan has released the country-pop anthem after an extensive promotional rollout.
Last month, the “Pink Pony Club” singer posted a photo of herself in a suit to Instagram with the caption: “The Lawyer. Ur ex’s worst nightmare + she gets the job Done.” She then went on to post several more as a lawyer, along with photos of herself as a plumber, a construction worker and a dentist, all with the same theme of her taking on a service worker gig and getting the job done.

Chappell Roan has just released her long-teased single “The Giver”; give it a listen below. Long time collaborator Dan Nigro produced and co-wrote the country track with Roan, marking the pop star’s first new release since her 2024 single, “Good Luck, Babe!”
Roan has been dropping breadcrumbs about “The Giver” since last fall. It was during her debut performance on Saturday Night Live, though, that she played the country track for the first time. Later, billboards popped up across the country with Chappell dressed in various occupations promising to “get the job done.” If you happened to give her Hot To Go! Hotline a call, you could also hear multiple snippets of the track.

Actress Scarlett Johansson recently revealed that she declines to take photos with fans outside of work appearances. In her cover story for InStyle the Oscar-nominated actress relayed that she intentionally sets a boundary with her fans, separating her private and work life: “I like to be in my own thoughts that have nothing to do with what other people think of me.”
“It really offends a lot of people. It doesn’t mean I’m not appreciative, of course, that people are fans, or happy to see me,” Johansson explained. “But I always say to people, ‘I’m not working,’ [which means] I don’t want to be identified as being in this time and place with you. For several years, the nominees for Album of the Year were decided by secretive nomination review committees, but the Recording Academy got rid of most of those in 2021 after The Weeknd's notorious shutout, so now the decisions are made entirely by members at large. Scroll down for our latest odds, which are based on the combined predictions of Gold Derby users. Those odds are constantly changing, so we'll be updating this list throughout the season.
SEEGrammy Album of the Year: All the Winners in Grammy Awards History
In 2022, the first year without the committees, the Grammys expanded Album of the Year to 10 nominations (though that has since been contracted back to eight). The 2022 winner ended up being We Are by Jon Batiste, which was a surprise against higher-profile hits. So even without the committees to uplift underdog recordings, the academy's 13,000 voters don't necessarily default to the most popular nominee.

Scarlett Johansson has long been one of Hollywood's most popular celebrities, especially with Marvel fans due to her role as Black Widow in the MCU. It may be natural for fans to want to take pictures with Johansson to share on social media if they were to run into the movie star in public, but fans who've gotten the chance to ask are typically left disappointed.
In a new interview with InStyle, Johansson commented on her fame. She confirmed that she refuses to ever take any photos with fans outside of promotional events, which is probably something that happens very often, given her popularity. Johansson clarified that she appreciates that she has fans, understanding that they're just "happy" to see her. At the same time, she never feels comfortable taking photos with them, as she wants to enjoy her time off the set without worrying about feeling "self-conscious" about the pictures taken of her.

The title of a successful actress has been coined by Scarlett Johansson since she began starring in films. Being one of the most paid and recognized faces in the film industry, she has become an icon in every definition of the word. From Marvel Studios to now heading her own Jurassic World film, she is everywhere in the film industry. At the same time, she seems to be nowhere.

Lady Gaga returned to Saturday Night Live on March 8, 2025, taking on both hosting and musical guest duties. It was her second time hosting the show, and she kicked things off with a monologue that blended humor with updates on her career. Gaga didn’t shy away from poking fun at some bumpy moments, including her acting journey and a controversial past performance.
The pop star looked back at her first hosting gig in 2013, when she was 27 years old. Now 38, she quipped about how time has flown. “Last time I hosted ‘SNL,’ I was 27. I’m 38 now, which is scientifically the best age for a female pop star to be,” she said. “Most pop stars are over 40. Chappell Roan is 58. And Charli xcx, she’s 75.
