Biography

Joel Sopp was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, Canada to Trudy Sopp-Johnson, former stylist and Warren Kiland, former actor and CFL Football Player. He was raised in Southeast Saskatchewan in Carnduff and Moosomin, with a brief year in Moose Jaw, by his mother and with his younger sister.

At age 18, he left Moosomin to join Briercrest Bible College where he joined an intensive theatrical group named Operation Underground, that involved interactive stage dramas. Through immersive method acting, many of the acting roles Joel dove into enveloped him whole, sometimes leaving lingering effects for months afterwards, causing Joel to consider a break from acting.

Sopp married in 1998 and took that acting break to raise his 2 wonderful children, Cass and Logan, until his divorce in 2020.

Sopp's Resume boasts 4 Feature Films, 12 Short Films, 2 TV Series, Numerous Live Theatrical Performances and Musicals with 1 Music Video.

Sopp now lives in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and is active in feature length films, both in front of and behind the camera, commercial work, voice overs, as well as TV and web series throughout Western Canada.
