When David Hyde Pierce signed on to play Niles, the titular doctor's brother in "Frasier," he initially thought the pilot script was "terrible." The actor thought the writers had essentially created two versions of the same character in Frasier and Niles and wasn't sure how the show's dynamic was ever going to work. Fast-forward two years to the 1995 episode "The Last Time I Saw Maris," and Pierce was fully converted. Having played Niles for almost three seasons, the actor had developed a bond with his cast mates and an appreciation for the writing quality on "Frasier," which remains one of the best and most consistently well-written sitcoms in TV history. But it seems he'd also developed a real affection for his character's wife, Maris, despite the fact she had never been seen on-screen.
By 1995, audiences had become well-acquainted with Niles' wife even though they'd never once seen her in the flesh.

From Paul and Feyd’s climactic knife fight in Dune: Part Two to Lucius and Macrinus’ climactic swordfight in Gladiator II, the movies of 2024 have brought a bunch of great fight scenes. A good fight scene can really invigorate an audience. It’s a chance for stunt choreographers to get creative, and it can be a crowd-pleasing moment when a noble hero violently triumphs over a despicable villain.
2024 has delivered both gruesome, blood-soaked fight scenes, like the nightclub sequence in Monkey Man, and hilarious slapstick set-pieces, like the cartoonish saloon brawl in Hundreds of Beavers. There were even great fight scenes in non-action movies, like the body horror opus The Substance. From the final showdown in Boy Kills World to the multiversal mayhem of Deadpool & Wolverine, 2024’s movies have been jam-packed with well-staged fight scenes.

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Seed of Chucky was Written and Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Narrated by Tyler Nichols, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Along with most Horror franchises that skyrocketed in the ’80s, Child’s Play had plummeted by the mid ’90s. But in 1996, Scream became a pivotal moment for the genre. Wes Craven’s self-referential slasher helped revive mainstream interest in Horror. And it gave birth to a new wave of slashers that featured characters with smarter dialogue, who made less stupid decisions (for the most part), and delivered the all-important meta humor. That wave included a bride, mostly dressed in black leather. Bride of Chucky checked all the boxes of the updated slasher formula, especially when it came to the satire. Twisters aims for scientific accuracy, influenced by modern technology and climate change. Interest in meteorology increased after the original Twister, expecting a similar impact with the new film. Twisters was filmed during tornado season in Oklahoma, adding unpredictability to the production.
The internet is filled with videos of experts reacting to how historically and scientifically accurate scenes in movies are, and the team behind Twisters were all too aware of this during the production process. A reboot/sequel of the 1996 disaster film, Lee Isaac Chung's Twisters stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell as storm chasers testing a new technology to disperse tornadoes. The trailers showcase the film's disastrous events, as giant tornadoes rip through Oklahoma. Tom Cruise is a rumored frontrunner to play a veteran Hal Jordan in Lanterns coming to HBO Bradley Cooper could be a very dynamic actor to play Jordan's Green Lantern alongside a newly recruited John Stewart. John Krasinski is a dead ringer for Hal Jordan, and the Dcu could provide his superhero redemption after the MCU with Mister Fantastic.
Warner Bros. and HBO are officially moving forward with the Dcu's Lanterns series. However, it's not yet known who will be playing Hal Jordan, one of the greatest human Green Lanterns in DC Universe. As such, the role is going to require a very particular type of actor, one who can project a high level of courage and confidence alongside a fair share of recklessness where others would express caution or fear.
The Dcu's upcoming Lanterns series will be part of the newly rebooted universe from DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.

We’ve talked a lot about what makes a black sheep a black sheep. It can be a number of things really. We look at horror series and see what the underappreciated or even outright hated ones are to lift them up and defend them. It can also be a relatively underseen or unknown entity in the career of an actor, director, or series of films to shine a light and get it on more radars. A black sheep can be seen as bad at the time of its release (or even now) and just needs someone to speak of the positives for the flick. The Gate II (get it Here) is, well, it’s all of that. It’s a mostly underseen and unknown movie in a short horror series that is not really loved by the people who have seen it. With the first movie in the series being a spooky kids classic,...

Glen Powell is already making an impact in Hollywood with his impeccable projects that well showcased his acting prowess. However, the actor is yet far from achieving one record that Ethan Hawke and Hitman director Richard Linklater will attain with the upcoming project that they’re set to collaborate on.

It is quite a great feat as the actor-director duo have already collaborated on numerous projects that even actor-director duo, Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have yet to attain.

Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater have long been collaborating on projects that produced some of the most critically acclaimed films over the last three decades. From bringing innovative narratives to authentic character portrayals, their partnership has continued to expand the horizon of storytelling on the big screen cinema.

Actor Tom Hardy is currently Sony’s Eddie Brock a.k.a Venom, but his stint with superheroes started with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. The British actor played Bane in the climatic film of Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy and was a formidable foe who broke the Batman. Hardy had previously worked with Nolan on Inception.
Nolan’s films have always featured actors in small roles who would go on to be future stars. Actors like Timothée Chalamet and Barry Keoghan had small roles in films made by the maverick filmmaker. Hit Man star Glen Powell too had a short role in The Dark Knight Rises in a scene where he was hit in the head by Hardy’s Bane.

Adria Arjona says she was destined for pop stardom. She dreamed of becoming the next Beyoncé or Britney Spears as she crisscrossed the Americas with her father, the Guatemalan singer Ricardo Arjona, watching him serenade audiences with Latin pop ballads. Her home became a hotel room. She jetted between tour dates and stood backstage cheering him on. There was only one thing missing from her supersized expectations:
“I can’t sing,” Arjona says. “So, that was not in the books for me.”
Instead, Arjona has paved her own path in Hollywood.

Glen Powell reveals he has been misleading people with a cautionary dating advice that's now confirmed as just an urban legend. The Hit Man star asserted that his tale of a weird date involving lotion, back rubs, and cannibalism was so absurd it had to have happened.
Glen Powell shared a disturbing story when prompted for dating advice during Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast. The actor's cautionary tale was meant to encourage listeners to keep their guard up when meeting people through dating apps; he admitted his story was a scene straight out of Silence of the Lambs. Shane quoted a listener describing a Bumble match turned whirlwind romance of attending concerts and weekend plans; Powell initially hedged his comments before sharing a dating anecdote sourced from an acquaintance.

The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi may have delved deeper into Star Wars lore than Andor did, yet the series starring Adria Arjona still soared to impressive heights of critical adoration upon its 2022 premiere on Disney+. And it seems the stars align with the promise of the second season, especially with the recent tempting hints dropped by Arjona, our very own Bix Caleen.
Her words ring with intrigue; the second season, which could premiere next year, is expected to outperform the first in terms of scale and intelligence. Similar sentiments were also expressed by Tony Gilroy, the mastermind behind this epic tale. In a recent interview with the New York Times, Arjona framed her excitement for the next season, saying it will be even “bigger” and “smarter” than the previous one.

Pop culture has lived with Freddy Krueger for so long, it's easy to take him for granted.
As explained in the many films in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series, Freddy was born to a nun following a group assault in an asylum. He was raised by an abusive adopted father, and regularly tortured and killed animals. He grew up to murder children, and would often lure his victims into a steamy boiler room to torture them with handmade gloves outfitted with knives or nails. For years, he killed the kids in and around the fictional city of Springwood, Ohio.
Freddy was eventually arrested but was "released on a technicality." Outraged, the parents of Springwood chased Freddy to his torture shack and set it on fire, burning him to death. Freddy, however, was too evil to stay dead, and years later began appearing in the dreams of Springwood's teens.

It’s a “Hot Glen Summer” at the movies.
Just like the immortal words of Megan Thee Stallion, who’s billed every summer since 2019 the perfect time to do “hot girl shit,” Glen Powell is heating up movie screens. Summer 2024 firmly establishes him as a power player with Netflix’s “Hit Man,” the Prime Video documentary “The Blue Angels” and Universal “Twisters” dropping in rapid succession.

According to Richard Linklater, movie stars still exist, with Glen Powell being a prime example of old-school charisma. Linklater believes the industry may prefer stars to go away to avoid high pay, pointing to the era of franchises and characters. Linklater blames the lack of iconic movie stars on the rise of "sexless, childish movies" that don't allow for strong, charismatic personalities.
Academy Award nominee Richard Linklater believes that, contrary to how many now feel about modern cinema, movie stars absolutely still exist, and Hit Man star Glen Powell is proof. “Hit Man” director Richard Linklater knew Glen Powell was a movie star the moment the young actor, with no profile, walked in to audition for “Everybody Wants Some” almost a decade ago. Linklater explained that what makes Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio movie stars goes beyond their good looks and acting ability, but is rooted their charisma and how we are drawn to them.
“You look at Brad Pitt, ‘Oh, I want to hang out with him,’” said Linklater. “They attract you, you’ll follow them somewhere. You want to be wherever, whatever they’re doing. Some personalities have that quality, most don’t… Glen does.”
Linklater would need every ounce of Powell’s star power to pull off “Hit Man,” a sexy screwball comedy in which the audience is rooting for Madison (Adria Arjona) and Powell’s Ron to be together, but who do some questionable things to get their happy ending.

Netflix and Richard Linklater certainly make for peculiar bedfellows. Where every other Netflix exclusive feels like it was concocted by an algorithm and designed to have maximum appeal, Linklater has been perfectly happy to direct films for a niche market these past 30-plus years. Even at his most commercial, with a film like "School of Rock," you get the sense the eccentric Texan auteur is making movies that speaks to his interests first and foremost.
Yet, somehow, Linklater has now found himself releasing back-to-back films for the streaming giant. The first of them, 2022's "Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood" — a rotoscope-style animated feature where segments inspired by the filmmaker's real childhood in 1960s Houston are seamlessly integrated with a fictional story about a young boy being recruited by NASA for an off-the-books space mission — reads like the opposite of what studios feel constitutes an easy sell. “Hit Man” is the kind of movie that 25 years ago could have made $200 million at the box office on a budget of two percent of that. Now, Richard Linklater and Glen Powell’s romantic thriller-comedy is going straight to Netflix after traditional studios balked at giving it a theatrical release.
In an interview with the BBC, Linklater attributes that change to studios being afraid to take even small risks on adult-oriented dramas.
“You don’t get fired for doing a sequel or an origin story, something that already exists,” the Oscar-nominated “Boyhood” director said. “You don’t get in trouble for what’s obvious and commercial. What changed is that films got greenlit by the marketing department and then it’s become really safe choices.”

Richard Linklater is opening up about the hurdles to producing his latest movie, “Hit Man,” saying that studios initially “really didn’t want to make the film.”
In a new interview with the BBC, the celebrated director of “Dazed and Confused” and the “Before” trilogy said that he and Glen Powell — who stars in the film and co-wrote the script — worked on the film “very independently.”
“Glen and I wrote it speculatively and we didn’t get paid anything, we just tried to get the film made,” he told the BBC. “We really felt we were onto something, we felt we had written a film noir, a crime film that’s also a screwball comedy about a couple that you’re rooting to be together, but I think they wanted it to be just one thing.”

The many nuances of adulthood aren’t on display in movies anymore, “Hit Man” director Richard Linklater told the BBC on Thursday. “Traditional” studios turned the movie, which debuted on Netflix in May, in part because “there isn’t ‘adult’ in movies anymore,” he added.
When he and the movie’s co-director, co-writer, and star Glen Powell got together to discuss the project, Linklater told told him “it’s gonna have sex, it’ll be passionate, it’ll be carnal, the desire that drives everything.”
“Glen’s character starts off very dispassionate, but by the end of the movie he’s a different guy, he’s discovered passion, and the movie has this strong chemistry and sexuality,” Linklater told the outlet. “I think what’s out of fashion, people say there’s no sex in movies anymore, but there isn’t ‘adult’ in movies anymore, as sexuality in movies equals adult.

Even for indie maverick Richard Linklater, his 23rd feature Hit Man is an inventive blend of genres and tones: black comedy, romance, noir, thriller and psychological study. But all of it told with a delightfully light touch.
The film is based on a true-crime magazine article written by Skip Hollandsworth, the Texas-based journalist Linklater collaborated with on his 2011 film Bernie, starring Jack Black. Hit Man tells the story of Gary Johnson — a real-life, mild-mannered psychology professor who moonlit as an undercover hitman for the New Orleans police. When he breaks protocol to help a desperate woman trying to flee an abusive boyfriend, the character finds himself becoming one of his false personas, falling for the woman and flirting with turning into a criminal himself.
The film is led by two intensely charismatic performances from Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!!) and Adria Arjona (Morbius). Powell also...
