Music prodigy Nandi Bushell has unveiled a new single titled “The Only One,” an alt-pop tune from her new band Blu Reflection. The trio features Nandi on drums and vocals, Sebby Joel on guitar, and Kea Emina on bass.
The teenage three-piece posted a couple of covers last year, but this is their first original song together. The melodic single has 14-year-old Nandi singing an infectious chorus featuring the lyrics, “Maybe I’m the only one/ That feels like this/ Maybe you’re the only one/ Who hurts like me.”
In the song credits, Nandi is listed as both the composer and the lyricist, adding another impressive entry on her musical résumé. The multi-instrumentalist has jammed with the likes of Foo Fighters, Tom Morello, Brian May, and more, at one point earning Consequence‘s 2021 Rookie of the Year honors.

Nandi Bushell has added a new dimension to her impressive music skills. The 14-year-old prodigy has posted a TikTok video of herself playing drums to the Led Zeppelin classic “Good Times Bad Times” while wearing high heels.
Taking on the late John Bonham’s drum parts is hard enough, but Nandi takes it one step further, handling the bass drum with precision in her stilettos.
The video also promotes Nandi’s next single, “The Only One,” which arrives on March 3rd. The caption reads, “‘The Only One’ my next single – 3rd of March 2025! Until then enjoy me performing one of the greatest rock songs ever ‘Good Time Bad Times’ by @ledzeppelin in gold high heels.”
Consequence has been following Nandi since she was still in single digits, and we named her our 2021 Rookie of the Year after she engaged in a headline-making drum-off with Dave Grohl and co-wrote a song with Tom Morello.

Nandi Bushell put her drum skills to the test, recreating Karen Carpenter’s legendary cover of “Dancing in the Street” that was recorded during a 1960s television appearance.
The original clip saw a young Karen Carpenter — just a few years older than Bushell is now — performing as part of a trio during a studio-audience talk show. Various versions of the video have amassed thousands of views on YouTube, mainly due to Karen’s incredible jazz drumming, which she simultaneously juggles with the song’s lead vocal. Karen’s solo is jaw-dropping — after all, she made our list of the top 100 drummers of all-time for a reason.
It’s the same kind of virtuosity Bushell is known for, so it’s no surprise that fans have been sending her the clip — more so than any other.
“I have so much love and respect for Karen Carpenter!” wrote Nandi on X/Twitter.

Nandi Bushell performed Foo Fighters‘ “Learn to Fly” with drumsticks given to her by the late Taylor Hawkins in a new clip for Drumeo. The video reprises Bushell’s performance of “Learn to Fly” at the tribute for Hawkins at Wembley Stadium in 2022.
Bushell discussed that experience in the intro of the clip, clutching the drumsticks that Hawkins once gave to her when an 11-year-old Nandi appeared onstage alongside the Foo Fighters at a Los Angeles show in 2021.
“Taylor’s amazing, he’s the nicest person,” said Bushell, who’s now 14 years old. “He gave me these sticks, which are the sticks I performed with at Wembley.”
Regarding the tribute concert, Nandi added: “It was a bittersweet moment, because of course it’s amazing to play Wembley Stadium, but it was why I was playing there.”

Bushell posted the clip to social media on Wednesday (August 7th), writing that she was so taken by the Downward Spiral cut, as well as the Johnny Cash version, that she felt compelled to put her own spin on it.
“I discovered the song ‘Hurt’ by Trent Renzor and Nine Inch Nails from the Johnny Cash version. It’s so powerful,” she stated. “Obviously, I can’t [relate] to the lyrics. Tom Morello’s renowned guitar talents clearly run in the family.
The Rage Against the Machine guitarist is currently on a tour of Europe, and he brought his 13-year-old son Roman along for the trip. The two have have been opening Tom’s sets with their new co-penned track “Soldier in the Army of Love,” and Tom recently took to social media to share a couple of clips of their performances, including a July 8th set at the Villafranca Festival in Verona, Italy.

Teen drumming sensation Nandi Bushell and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello have joined forces once again, this time for a cover of the John Lennon classic “Power to the People” at the Download Festival in England this past weekend.
Nandi took the stage for the final song of Morello’s set on Saturday (June 15th) at Donington Park.
After being introduced, the 14-year-old prodigy counted the song in with her drum sticks before Morello and members of his solo band led the crowd in the titular chant: “Power to the people!” Morello asked for a bit more of Bushell’s kit in his stage monitors — the levels were still set for his regular drummer — and then tore into some guitar stabs as the crowd carried the repeating chorus.
The highlight was Nandi’s drum solo, as Morello stepped aside to give the crowd a good view of her skills.

The folks at Drumeo really put drumming sensation Nandi Bushell to the test when she stopped by for a series of video segments. In the latest clip to be unveiled from the session, the young teenager was tasked with playing along to the Dio classic “Holy Diver” as she heard it for the first time (minus the drum track).
We previously saw Nandi nail Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” as part of the same “For the First Time” series, but “Holy Diver” definitely presented her with a more difficult challenge.
The video shows Nandi struggling during her first take, with host Brandon Toews asking her, “What would you say is the hardest part about learning this song, ” to which Nandi replied, “That I’ve made it difficult for myself.”
Nandi added a number of fills to her version of the drums, saying, “I do that Neil Peart style.

Charlie Benante is one of metal’s finest drummers, as he’s proven during his long run in his primary band Anthrax and his current stint in Pantera. But could he handle a dance track like the Barbie soundtrack cut “Choose Your Fighter”? That’s what Drumeo set to find out in the latest edition of its “For the First Time” series.
As we’ve seen in past editions of this series featuring Chad Smith (Thirty Seconds to Mars’ “The Kill”), Nandi Bushell (Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It”), and others, drummers are challenged to come up with their own drum parts as they hear a song for the first time. Kid sisters Aixa (age 9) and Nirvana (age 11) are following in the footsteps of fellow music prodigy Nandi Bushell with their impressive TikTok channel of heavy metal cover songs.
Hailing from a musical family, Aixa and Nirvana performed alongside their parents in many of their early clips, but lately they’ve been tackling impressive renditions of songs by Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, and Iron Maiden all by themselves.
Nirvana handles guitar and vocals while Aixa lays down the rhythm behind a huge drum kit that threatens to engulf her. But for their age, the sisters already sound like seasoned vets.
Their cover of the Maiden classic “The Trooper” is a prime example and has already amassed over 22 million views on TikTok. Luke Combs’ touring drummer Jake Sommers is the latest musician to take on Drumeo’s “For the First Time” challenge, being tasked with playing “Stranded” by French metal masters Gojira.
Sommers’ main gig may be country music, but he seems fairly well versed in rock music. At first, Drumeo host Brandon Toews presents songs by Korn and Porcupine Tree, but Sommers quickly recognizes each, defeating the purpose of the challenge, which is to get drummers to play along to a song they never heard before.
Then, the beginning of Gojira’s “Stranded” is played for Sommers, who responds, “I didn’t know that, whatever that was,” triggering laughter from the sound booth.
“Such a cruel game,” jokes Toews, aware of the difficulty of the song Sommers landed on.

Prodigious rocker Nandi Bushell makes her acting debut on the BBC series Andy and the Band, and she’s joined by music royalty on the show: Queen guitarist Brian May.
The children’s comedy program is based around a fictional band, Andy and the Odd Socks, and its ongoing adventures on Planet Rock. In the newly premiered third series of the show, “Planet Rock is in distress due to a lack of pure, honest rock music coming from Earth,” per the BBC’s description. The Godfather of Rock (played by May) is concerned, but his Goddaughter Emerald (played by Bushell) beats him to the punch and sets off for Earth.
The strife culminates with a fateful Battle of the Bands competition, and at one point, the Queen guitarist and Nandi get to show off their musical skills together, with May on the axe and Nandi laying down an epic drum fill.

In the spirit of Halloween, prodigious 13-year-old YouTube rocker Nandi Bushell has uploaded a drum cover of Slipknot’s “Psychosocial.”
Donning a devilish costume, Bushell takes on the dynamic drum parts of the late Joey Jordison, whose pounding steers the complex arrangement of the All Hope Is Gone track. It’s certainly an appropriate song choice for Nandi to show off her own skills behind the kit.

The 13-year-old musical prodigy, Nandi Bushell, is back with a new song, and instead of a cover, this time it’s an original. Teaming up with actor Josh Brolin, Bushell has released “Sweet Nightmares,” a spooky track she wrote which arrives on the perfect date: October’s Friday the 13th. Stream the single below.
With a driving rock arrangement, “Sweet Nightmares” features a haunting, ghoulish vocal performance from Brolin, though he mostly offers interjections like “Run, run, you better run!” Taking center stage are Bushell’s vocals, which range from spitting verses about how “leaders are liars” to melodic choruses that feel equal-parts Britpop, rock, and campy horror.
For her part, Bushell explained that things which are “a bit scary and dark” are often her favorite. “My favorite movie is Batman: Dark Knight,” she said in a statement. “My favorite director is Tim Burton; my favorite computer game is Little Nightmares...

Music prodigy Nandi Bushell, who turns 13 this Friday (April 28th), recently posted videos of her performing her Top 5 rock and Top 5 metal drum intros of all time, paying tribute to songs by Nirvana, Black Sabbath, System of a Down, The Beatles, Metallica, Rush, and more.
Thus far, it’s been an amazing ride for Nandi, who isn’t quite a teenager yet. Among her many highlights include an epic online drum battle with Dave Grohl, followed by onstage performances with Foo Fighters in 2021 and at one of the Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts last year. She’s also jammed with or collaborated with the likes of Tom Morello, Chad Smith, Roger Taylor, and more.
Not to mention, she was named Consequence‘s Rookie of the Year in 2021.
Now, she’s rocking her favorite drum intros in two separate videos, one for rock and one for metal. In the rock clip, she...

Bloc Party return today with the single “High Life,” their first new music of the year.
“High Life” is a mid-tempo groove that recalls the dance-punk movements of 1970s London and New York. It’s fleshed out with a dynamic, percussive beat and layers of angular guitars, as vocalist Kele Okereke attempts to lure you into the world of hedonistic glamour: “Are you ready for the high life? For things to go our way?” he sings. “We’ll take a car to the West End, to catch a Broadway show/ Call ahead to book our table, we’ll find a place to go.”
Lyrically, “High Life” does at times feel a bit more shallow than some of Bloc Party’s better songs. But it certainly doesn’t take itself too seriously, fully leaning in to its playful funk aesthetic. While the band have yet to announce a new album, all...

Bad Bunny has seemingly hit out at Kendall Jenner’s ex-boyfriend in Eladio Carrión’s new song “Coco Chanel”.
The Puerto Rican rapper collaborated with fellow American rapper Carrión on the eighth track of his newest album, 3MEN2 Kbrn, released on 17 March.
In the song’s first verse, Bad Bunny, who’s rumoured to be dating Jenner, sings, “Pero el sol de PR calienta má' que el de Phoenix / Ella lo sabe”, which translates to, “But the sun in Puerto Rico is hotter than in Phoenix / She knows it”.
Phoenix appears to directly refer to Jenner’s ex-boyfriend, professional NBA Phoenix Suns player Devin Booker. The two reportedly split in October 2022 after dating for two years.
Elsewhere in the song, Bad Bunny raps, “Las de escorpio son peligro”, which translates to, “Scorpio women are dangerous”.
The 27-year-old reality TV star and model’s birthday is on 3 November 1995.

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello is the latest rock luminary to come to Meg White’s defense after music journalist Lachlan Markay called her “terrible.”
Markay’s criticism has faced a surmounting chorus of backlash led by Jack White, Questlove, Nandi Bushell, and many more. It all started when Markay replied to a tweet about the 20th anniversary of The White Stripes’ iconic song “Seven Nation Army.” In the reply, Markay unapologetically dragged Meg’s drumming ability while adding that “no band is better for having shitty percussion.”
Now Morello has weighed in with a passionate pro-Meg take on Instagram: “I hear there’s some controversy on this matter lately so let me set fools straight: #MegWhite is one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock n roll.”
He continued: “There are a Handful of drummers Ever who are Instantly recognizable rocking their Many Hit Songs with Flavor,...

Drummer and musician Nandi Bushell has posted herself playing a drumming solo honouring Meg White in support of the drummer after she became the subject of recent criticism.
The video shows the 12-year-old drumming along to “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, with the name “Meg” written all over her drums.
Later in the clip, the video switches to an old video of Bushell as a toddler playing drums to the same song alongside her father who is on the guitar.
Text across the video then reads: “The first time I played drums I jammed Seven Nation Army. Thank you for [one of] the greatest rock songs ever! We Love You Meg!!!”
Alongside the video posted online, Bushell called White her “hero”, claiming that she was inspirational to her growing up.

Nandi Bushell has joined the chorus of voices supporting The White Stripes drummer Meg White after writer Lachlan Markay called her “terrible.”
“Meg White is my Hero,” Bushell tweeted alongside the video. “The first day I got drums my dad showed me the video of Seven Nation Army. I saw Meg playing the drums and thought she was the coolest person in the world. I still do.”
Bushell continued, “The more I learn about music, the more I realise that songs, and art, are created to wake emotions deep inside the soul. No matter how fast my fills get or number rudiments I learn. If I can’t write a song that moves people, then can’t call myself an artist.”
“Meg and Jack wrote some of the best songs in rock history,” the young drummer concluded. “They moved me at 5 years old to want to play the drums and still move me today!

Nandi Bushell continues to impress with her latest cover rendition of New Orleans Rhythm Kings’ “Tin Roof Blues.”
In the video shared via Bushell’s socials, the young British multi-instrumentalist delivers strictly saxophone-based performance of the leisurely, loose number. Though the typically exuberant performer fit the tone by mostly containing her excitement aside from a few knowing head nods between bars, she also busted out a seamless solo that she boasted in the caption as “all me.”
“It’s almost been 2 years since I got my #yamaha #saxophone,” she shared with the video. “I was inspired by watching Lisa on @thesimpsons. I #Love it. It’s helped me learn about #jazz and #blues opening my mind to lots of new #music.” Ah, if only Bleeding Gums Murphy could see this today. Watch the cover below.

Nandi Bushell has taken on Duke Ellington’s jazz standard “Caravan,” which she describes as “the most difficult drum cover I have ever made.” The performance was inspired by the song’s prominent placement in the 2014 film Whiplash, starring Miles Teller as an ambitious young drummer named Andrew Neiman. Watch it below.
“Learning ‘Caravan’ from the movie Whiplash took me 3 months,” our 2021 Rookie of the Year revealed in the YouTube description. “First I needed to learn new techniques, then memorize all the sheet music. [It] was hard! I pushed myself and practiced so much. It took a week of trying to film. This song takes so much energy and stamina. I needed to concentrate like I had never concentrated before.”
She continued, “It was not easy! I kept on practicing. I love to keep improving and getting better. I wonder how I will play this song in a few more years.

The Nanang Baja Band consists of five Indonesian children, but don’t let their young ages fool you. These kids can rip!
The band recently went viral after a performance made the rounds on TikTok, racking up more than 4 million views. And for good reason: The video is as impressive as it is adorable.
Opening with a stadium rock drum solo, the band busts into a power metal/symphonic prog arrangement that’s frankly jaw-dropping. It’s hard to imagine any of the band members being older than 10 years old, but they’re both confident on their instruments and as performers.
Just check out the drummer’s mid-song stick flips, or the guitarist’s hype tactics as he gestures to the audience to get riled up. All in all, the song stretches beyond seven minutes with multiple turnarounds, a keyboard solo (she’s amazing throughout), and chunky headbanging breakdown sections.

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was honored for more than five hours during a London concert on Saturday night, but the highlight of the evening was the late artist's 16-year-old son, Shane Hawkins, playing drums with the band during an emotional rendition of "My Hero." The "Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert" aired on CBS and is streaming now on Paramount+. Throughout the evening, several different drummers stepped up to play for Hawkins, with Shane rounding out the lineup for the last performance of the night.
Hawkins died on March 25 in in Bogotá, Colombia, after complaining of heart pains. The drummer was 50. In June, Hawkins's wife, Alison, shared a statement about her husband's passing on Twitter. Taylor Hawkins was sunshine incarnate. The late Foo Fighters drummer – also a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist – had an unrivalled sense of positivity and joie de vivre. His megawatt smile could power a stadium show all of its own.
The first of two tribute concerts to Hawkins, who died aged 50 in March this year, does its utmost to summon that same energy. Gathered here at Wembley Stadium are some of Hawkins’s closest friends – the surviving Foos members, of course – family, collaborators and admirers, for a six-hour marathon of a show. Understandably, the mood that fills the 80,000-capacity venue is a strange one. Hawkins’s favourite songs are played ahead of the late-afternoon start time – Abba, Elo, George Michael – but no one feels like dancing just yet.
Foos frontman Dave Grohl arrives on stage with the band to a deafening roar; it’s a few minutes before the cheering stops and...

The Wembley Stadium in London witnessed an emotional tribute to the Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins as the rock band took to stage to honour the memory of the drummer who passed away on March 25 earlier this year, reports Variety.
Two things seemed guaranteed when the great and the good of the rock world gathered at the stadium to pay tribute to the late Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins: One, it would be emotional. And two, there would be drums.
The first Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert (the second is in Los Angeles later this month) didn’t take long to deliver on either count.
According to Variety, at 4.30 p.m. sharp (London time), the Foo Fighters emerged and, as Dave Grohl stepped up to speak, the crowd gave him a huge ovation.
As he bowed his head, the applause grew. As he looked to the heavens, a chant of “Taylor!
