Best known for complex and audacious independent films, writer/director JP Allen's most recent feature films include Memorizing Alison (2025), Girl in Golden Gate Park (2021), The Filmmaker (2018), Love and Demons (2014), Revisions (2016) and Centaur (2011). He wrote, produced and acted a lead role in the film Stephanie's Image (2009) starring Academy Award Winner Melissa Leo. His first feature film, Coffee and Language (2001), premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival where it was nominated for the Golden Starfish Award and for Best Screenplay. Also a novelist and playwright, his published work includes Gambling and The Filmmaker (novels/screenplays) and the stage play Sex and Imagining (produced in NYC and LA, also produced as an independent film).
