Vice TV is once again expanding its “Dark Side” franchise with a new spinoff that should hit close to home for millennial audiences in particular: “Dark Side of the 2000s.”

Premiering July 18 at 10 p.m., the 10-episode season will cover aughts subjects including the radio wars between Howard Stern and Opie & Anthony, “Trl,” the rise of TMZ, Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen’s “Two and a Half Men” conflict, “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” “The Bachelor,” Siegfried & Roy and men’s lifestyle magazines, or “lad mags.”

Per its official logline, “From outrageous shock jocks to record breaking reality TV, and the rise of celebrity gossip to the downward spiral of a child star, ‘Dark Side of the 2000s’ delves into the decade’s untold histories, revealing dark secrets and personal insights from the people who witnessed it all first hand.”

Duets: Cancelled; No Season Two
American Idol and The Voice will return next season but Duets will not. It's been cancelled by ABC and won't be back for a second season.

With Robin Thicke, Jennifer Nettles, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend as judges, Duets ran last summer to poor ratings. The season averaged a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.93 million total viewers.

ABC didn't include the series on their upcoming summer or fall schedules and have removed Duets from their website. What's more, host Quddus told fans that there wouldn't be a second season all the way back in September.

On his Facebook page, he wrote "A lot of folks are asking about whether Duets is continuing into a 2nd season: the answer is unfortunately it's not."

What do you think? Did you like Duets? Are you sorry that the...

Kimberly Nagaran: America Crowns 'Duets' Winner
Nine weeks, a ton of performances and one winner. Unlike previous weeks of "Duets," we won't know the results until the end of the night. Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Nettles -- the only superstars still left with their amateurs -- sing a rendition of "Would I Lie To You." Despite Kelly's casual black flats, the performance was still spicy and I couldn't be happier to watch the female superstars sing. After the performance, Quddus gives us a rundown of the show: All the amateurs (including those voted off) have come back, the final three will give one last performance, and at the end of the night, America will have its winner.

The show brings back Bridget Carrington, the last female amateur standing to sing with her duet partner John Legend. The pair sing The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" and Bridget sure showed America who they voted off. I didn't...

Jennifer Nettles
'Duets' Finale: Did Jason Farol, John Glosson Or J Rome Win?
Jennifer Nettles
If there was a prize for professional partners on "Duets" (Thu., 8 p.m. Et on ABC), then that would surely go to Jennifer Nettles. The Sugarland vocalist scored two of the three finalists in the show's inaugural season finale. The third slot went to Kelly Clarkson, and third is where Jason Farol would stay.

Nettles outlasted the competition as both of her amateur partners wound up as the top two contenders for the crown. It created a bittersweet moment for both John Glosson and J Rome as while they both wanted to win, they also were happy to see Team Nettles representing so strong in the finale.

In the final moments, host Quddus announced that J Rome had won the season, and the Hollywood Records contract that went along with it.

Now all that remains for fans is to hope and wonder if the show will come back for a second season next summer.

Matt Bomer in FBI: Duo très spécial (2009)
Did White Collar Woo You? Rookie Blue Wreck You? Was Gh Kiss Hot or Not? And More TV Qs!
Matt Bomer in FBI: Duo très spécial (2009)
We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, here are some queries we’re going to lob at you, from shows including The Closer, White Collar, Covert Affairs, Dallas, General Hospital and Pretty Little Liars.

1 | Are any One Life to Live/”Jolie” fans out there having mixed feelings about General Hospital‘s John/Sam pairing? Because damn, that kiss last Friday on the docks was smolderin‘.

2 | Does Grey’s Anatomy‘s Sarah Drew know that her doppelganger — aka Kim’s new assistant — was on Drop Dead Diva this past Sunday?

3 | Why...

Duets Recap: All Roads Lead to J Rome
Some folks might gripe that Duets is yet another reality singing competition that’s guaranteed to produce a male winner — yeah, there’s not a lady to be found in the Final 3 — but I’ve got a bigger gripe with ABC’s low-wattage summer series: Of the six songs covered during the show’s Season 1 (Season Only?) performance finale, there’s not one that hadn’t been previously covered on American Idol or The Voice.

I know, I know…this kind of “crime” probably only matters to a handful of reality-competition junkies like myself, but given that Duets hasn’t...

Alan Thicke Flirts On The 'Duets' Set
Duets (2012)
TV Legend Alan Thicke, the father of Robin, a judge on ABC's latest reality TV competition "Duets" (Thursdays at 8 p.m. Et on ABC), stopped by the set recently and made quite the impression.

Alan Thicke, former "Growing Pains" star and talk show and game show host, stopped by the set of "Duets" last week and the show's host Quddus told "Good Day La" (weekdays at 7 a.m. Et on Fox in Los Angeles) he was impressed by his moves with the ladies.

"He came into the make-up room, flirted with Jennifer Nettles and Kelly Clarkson," Quddus recalled. "I'm like, 'This is an Og. An 'Original Gangster' up in this place.'"

Robin had similar things to say about his dad before "Duets" launched. "He's pretty much always been giving me little tips here and there. He tells me to get my charm and my game together. He pretty much leads by example.

Duets Recap: Gotta Have Some Faith in the Sound
Duets (2012)
Remember that time a suddenly blonde Kelly Clarkson covered “Freedom ’90″ and you went out of your mind with elation? Okay, that was last night on ABC’s Duets, and by “you,” I actually mean “me.” Plus, Kelly was actually part of a quartet with her fellow mentors Jennifer Nettles, John Legend, and Robin Thicke. But still, it was a brilliant move on the part of the show’s producers for the first live episode of the season: Reminding reality TV fans that Duets can deliver a weekly dose of the original American Idol is as obvious and easy as a...

'Duets': 'Songs From The 2000s' recap
Duets (2012)
So after saying goodbye to Jordan on last week's episode of Duets, things are getting serious - the show's going live and it's time for America to have their say! There's time for the judges to perform George Michael's 'Freedom', and then Quddus congratulates Jennifer on the news of her pregnancy - "She's going to be such an amazing mother." Jennifer also has another thing to shout about - she still has two acts in the competition! Seems only fair we start with her, then... John Glosson - 'When You Say You Love Me' (Josh Groban) John had a chance to go home this week, which he says was "cool on one hand", though it felt strange being back. Still, it was great to see how many people were supporting him - "It makes it a little more nervewracking!" Anyway, John and Jennifer get down to rehearsals, (more)...

'Duets' Host Quddus Calls Out Former 'X Factor' Host: 'You Can't Have A Little Sensitivity For A Couple Of Minutes?'
"Duet" went live for the first time last night, and as it is with every reality singing competition, the introduction of America's vote kicks the contestants' emotions up a notch. Luckily for the remaining singers on ABC's hit, they have a calming force on stage with them in the form of host Quddus.

Having worked in music and alongside musicians for so long, the former MTV on-air star is particularly sensitive to the feelings of the competitors. Asked by MTV News if he had any embarrassing red carpet stories, Quddus told us that while he's never done anything too crazy on the red carpet, he has let his strong opinion on how reality show hosts treat contestants get the better of him.

"I just went in. I was like, you what, let me talk about a couple of these other hosts. I straight up called out Steve Jones on 'X Factor,...

'Duets' Recap: New Hair, New Scoring, New Game--It's the Live Shows!
Duets (2012)
It's the moment we've all been waiting for--Duets has finally gone Live! Gone are the confusing secret-Superstar-scoring tablet system and ridiculously anticlimactic Duets ranking after each performance. Yes, there are only five amateurs to root and vote for, but at least we're involved, even if that involvement will be short-lived.

The live show kicks off with a double duet performance by the Superstars and the only thing that stands out is Kelly Clarkson's radically different look: the "Stronger" star walks out sporting blonde locks in a hot pink form-fitting dress. I'm sure some will love it, some will hate it, but either way, it's hard to ignore. Quddus arrives more enthusiastic than ever and announces this week's theme: songs from the last decade. Smart choice, Duets--keep it fresh the first week viewers can actually invest in the performances.

Duets Recap: All the Right Movies
Duets (2012)
Memo to Duets‘ “superstar” mentors: Please stop telling each week’s Bottom 2 contestants that it doesn’t matter if they get booted, that their participation on ABC’s summer reality series is only the beginning of their careers in the music biz. Sure, such soothing talk cushions the blow of elimination (or near-elimination) and it may even be true, but as a viewer, it adds to the low-stakes vibe that’s pervaded this show ever since it tossed the first two weeks of scores into the dumpster (right next to Gcb) and never mentioned ‘em again.

At the rate the show is going,...

'Duets': 'Movie Night' recap
Duets (2012)
Things are getting serious - after this episode of Duets, we'll have our final five and the show goes live next week! So if ever the pressure was high, it's now. Nobody wants to miss out on America's votes! The theme for this week's show is the pretty self-explanatory Movie Night - big songs from big movies. Quddus kicks off proceedings by asking Jennifer Nettles how she's kept her acts out of the bottom two so far - she says she has talented contestants and there's "joy" on stage every time. Well, let's see - she's up first! John Glosson John and Jennifer agree that he might not be to Robin's "taste", but they won't let that stop them! They're going to perform 'My Heart Will Go On' - big song - and Jennifer's just focused on getting him to the live stages for America's (more)...

Kimberly Nagaran: 'Duets' Recap: Lights! Camera! ... Kelly Loses A Duet Partner
This week's performances on "Duets" brought us straight to the movies -- with one not-so-happy ending for an amateur. Our trustee host, Quddus reminds the viewers that next week, the show goes live. The superstars do their best to get the best five out on the stage for America -- because clearly we know better than four award-winning artists. Let's go to the movie performances!

John Glosson and Jennifer Nettles

"My Heart Will Go On"

"Titanic" was a drama, but Jennifer and John were all laughs while rehearsing for this ballad. Robin had a problem with John's dance moves last week, so John suggests a little baton twirling? He was kidding (thank goodness), but John and Jennifer nailed the song's emotion, even earning another one of Kelly's love/hate comments: "I can't stand you." Robin loved that he "sings from his heart," which led to Jennifer's "Thanks, boo." John thought it was fabulous.

Duets Recap: Points Blanked
Duets (2012)
If you just tuned in to ABC’s Duets for the first time this week, congratulations! Because apparently, those of us who wasted our time on Episodes 1 and 2 were actually watching some sort of meaningless preliminary rounds that won’t have any impact on the competition.

If that’s not the case, then shame on ABC nonetheless. After all, if the judges’ “secret scores” from Rounds 1 and 2 were somehow factored in to this week’s leaderboard, then why not just say so? And if Thursday night’s leaderboard really was a three-week average, we also needed to know: Was it...

Quddus in Duets (2012)
Duets Recap: New Kid on the Block
Quddus in Duets (2012)
ABC clearly invested good money in developing Duets‘ unimonikered emcee Quddus. Unlike the hostbots of many competing reality-competition series, Quddus convincingly exhibits lifelike qualities such as humor, empathy, and even sarcasm. He’s also programmed for basic math skills and an uncanny ability to process and respond to stimuli taking place in front of him. Yes, reality TV fans, the future is here, and DWTS‘ Robo Brooke Burke might be scheduled for a summer “vacation” at the Pentium plant.

Quddus kicked off Week 2 by trying to explain how the hell this show actually works, something nobody bothered to do at...

'Duets' Recap: Classic Duets and a Surprise Newcomer
Duets (2012)
It's week 2 of Duets, which means the novelty has passed and now we can really assess how this new singing competition stands on its own merit. From the start Quddus gives the audience some good news: starting from week 6, America will get to participate in determining who wins through a public voting system (there's a relief). Also, next week, the bottom two amateurs will sing in an a cappella showdown, and one individual will finally be sent home. Given this news and Kelly and Robin's opening rockin' duet, this is shaping up to be a promising second week.

Duets Series Premiere Recap: It Takes Two to Make a Thing Go Right
Kelly Clarkson
“There are 7 billion voices, and very few of them are unique and special.” That quote from R&B star John Legend was supposed to sum up the difficulty of trying to find two amateur vocalists with whom he could share the stage on Duets, ABC’s new entry in the reality singing sweepstakes. But in a larger sense, Legend’s weary commentary might also reflect the uncertainty of a TV audience that’s trying to figure out if it needs — or even wants — the search for new radio and iTunes stars to be a 12-month-a-year endeavor.

Indeed, with American Idol...

John Legend at an event for The Oscars (2019)
Kimberly Nagaran: 'Duets' Premiere Recap: Which Superstar Has The Best Partners?
John Legend at an event for The Oscars (2019)
ABC is dipping its toes into the pool of reality TV singing competitions with "Duets," which is bringing new stars, new rules and a whole lotta new talent to the summer TV scene.

New stars: Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke, Jennifer Nettles and John Legend form what host, Quddus calls The Superstars. Each superstar represents a different genre and a different team, but they all act so much like one happy, competitive family that it's hard to believe that they're hell-bent on beating each other.

New rules: The Superstars each found and chose two amateur protégés to sing alongside them in the coming weeks. Each superstar sought to discover voices that would blend smoother than chocolate, butter and any other spreadable condiment you can think of. After each duet, the three judges that didn't perform will rank them from 1 to 100, based on performance and presentation of the duet partner. Sorry, America,...

50 Cent Believes His Ex-Girlfriend Started The Fire Which Destroyed His Home
50 Cent has hinted he believes his ex-girlfriend started the fire which destroyed his .8 million home earlier this year. The U.S. rapper - real name Curtis Jackson - refused to openly blame Shaniqua Tompkins for the blaze in May, but did confirm she was ordered to leave his home in Dix Hills, New York, just days before it was torched.

Speaking to Quddus Philippe, correspondent for U.S. TV show "TV One Access," 50 said: "The courts told her she had to leave. It's kind of more like, 'If I can't have you, you can't have it.'"

When Quddus asked the rapper if he believed his ex-lover lit the fire, he replied: "Well, I don't want to say that... don't try to make me say something I don't want to say. But, the circumstances to it might seem that way."

Six people, including 50 and Shaniqua's 10-year-old son Marquis, were rushed to hospital after the blaze.
