Animated movies have long been crowd-pleasers, working with audiences of all ages. This can, perhaps, be attributed to the freedom that comes with the medium. With the genre’s history dating back to the late 1800s, it’s fascinating to see how animation has evolved from short, silent films to this billion-dollar culture machine.

While box office data began to be tracked in the 1920s, it wasn’t until the late 20th and early 21st centuries that animated films began breaking financial records. Today, a select group of these films has achieved rather extraordinary success, capturing the hearts (and wallets) of millions worldwide.
Let’s count down the animated movies that have made history, starting at number thirteen and working our way to the champion of the billion-dollar club. (You never know who overtakes them next).

Christian Bale Drastic Weight Loss (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Christian Bale is known for pushing his body to extremes for roles, but his transformation for ‘The Machinist’ was beyond drastic. To embody Trevor Reznik, a skeletal insomniac consumed by paranoia, he shed 62 pounds, dropping from 173 to just 110.
Christian Bale’s Insane Starvation Diet
The popular method actor’s 200-calorie diet was alarmingly restrictive, consisting of only a can of tuna and an apple per day, with coffee and water as his only drinks. To suppress hunger, he took up chain smoking and spent hours reading, sometimes for ten hours straight, without moving.
“It’s an amazing experience doing that,” he told The Guardian in 2018. “When you’re so skinny that you can hardly walk up a flight of stairs, you’re like, this being of pure thought.”

Israel has selected a survivor of the deadly October 7 Hamas attack to represent the nation at Eurovision this year.

The news comes a few days after the beginning of the Gaza ceasefire, as hostages are slowly returned to their families.
Raphael has been public in the past about the trauma she suffered from the attack, speaking at the Un Human Rights Council and explaining that she still has shrapnel in her head and leg. The Nova music festival saw dozens kidnapped and killed by Hamas and was the site of utter devastation on that day more than 15 months ago.

Many people likely began watching Disney movies at a young age, but this certainly doesn't mean that the lessons learned from these films won't remain true throughout one's life. In fact, there are countless lifelong lessons that can be derived from practically every film made by the iconic studio, including many that viewers may not fully grasp until they've grown up. For many decades, Disney has been using its creative, family-friendly storytelling style to present warm, inspiring messages to help anyone navigate through the mysteries of life and impart wisdom even through Disney moments that make one cry.
Over the years, Disney movies and their tropes have covered numerous topics that everyone is bound to encounter at some point in their lives, never failing to offer some valuable words of wisdom about how to get through them. Whether these lessons are learned by the characters at the end of their films,...

Stardew Valley is a game full of whimsy and weirdness. With fantasy elements that range from adorable forest spirits helping rejuvenate an economically depressed town to a little mouse that sells hats for no other reason than liking hats, the farming simulator is chock-full of interesting and weird secrets. No hidden secret leads to as strange a prize as the final Lost Book quest, which allows players to collect the three weirdest pieces of furniture in the entirety of Stardew Valley.
While some quests in Stardew Valley do bring players to strange places, like the dangerous Skull Cavern, most only require the player to interact with normal people and normal items. One quest, a series of tasks with no official quest title, has players running all over the valley and Pelican Town to unlock three statues with some of the strangest designs in the entire game. The Eurovision Song Contest has for the first time introduced an official code of contact for contestants taking part in next year’s competition.
The code of conduct mostly codifies rules already in place in one document but will include some changes, including the introduction of no-filming zones backstage, more closed-door rehearsals and improved rehearsal schedules to ensure artists can rest and even enjoy their time in the host city, which next year will be Basel, Switzerland. As previously intimated, Eurovision will also appoint a welfare producer who will be the key point of contact for artists and staff in the event of any issues.
Crucially, the code of conduct will apply to everyone accredited for the event, from the artists themselves to their entourages and even attending media.

In the 3rd episode of Silo Season 2, Juliette learned about the fate of Silo 17 from its sole survivor, Solo. He explained the obvious by stating how the lack of information about the world beyond the silo and the fake video on the visor of the cleaner led to a rebellion, which in turn caused the demise of the silo’s residents. Bernard took the measurements for Meadows’ suit and promised her that he’d sneak her out of Silo 18 when nobody was watching so that her escape wouldn’t trigger a reaction similar to that of Juliette’s survival. Robert Sims orchestrated a war between Mechanical and the people hailing from the Mids and Up Top in order to rule the former with fear. But the plan backfired as Cooper got killed, thereby strengthening the resolve of the Deep Downers. Meanwhile, Pete Nichols began his own rebellion against It...

Jules Verne was known for tales of imagination and exploration. Back in the 19th century, his novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea told of a mysterious submarine captain called Nemo. Now Nautilus brings that story to the screen by telling Captain Nemo’s own tale.
We meet Nemo in 1857 India, where he’s forced to work under the oppressive East India Company. A brilliant engineer, he secretly designs a submarine even more advanced than what’s known today. When the chance arrives, Nemo steals this creation—the legendary Nautilus. From then on, he and his diverse crew embark on underwater journeys across the seas. Their missions allow glimpses of uncharted marine worlds.
Of course, the company won’t let Nemo escape so easily. They give chase with battleships and troops. This sets the stage for adventures over Nautilus’ 10 episodes. Nemo strives to outwit the pursuers while exploring mysterious underwater life.

Disney heroes are some of the best characters that audiences immediately fall in love with. They take viewers on journeys to magical places, often with a mission they have to conquer, whether big or small. Many of them are full of inspiration and wisdom, but they sometimes make mistakes along the way.
On occasion, their mistakes make them more relatable. Everyone messes up at times, but it's how they choose to fix the errors that make them heroic. A few others decide to do things that viewers find a little harder to forgive. The worst things that Disney heroes have done are always part of their character arc and storyline.

Last year, a Jules Verne-inspired sea adventure series that explores the origins of Captain Nemo was canceled by Disney+. The show, Nautilus, then found a new home at AMC. It will also stream on Prime in the UK and Ireland and on Stan in Australia. Nautilus had already finished shooting when Disney dropped the series as a cost-cutting measure. As stated by CFO Christine McCarthy, “We are in the process of reviewing the content on our Dtc services to align with the strategic changes in our approach to content curation…As a result, we will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms, and currently expect to take an impairment charge of approximately $1.5 to $1.8 billion.” Nautilus has now unleashed a new trailer courtesy of Prime Video, by way of Deadline.

The best quotes in Finding Nemo highlight the humor, heart, and clever storytelling in the animated classic. The Pixar movie captured audiences with its deep sea adventure about a protective clownfish who teams with a memory-challenged fish to find his missing son. As with many of the best Pixar movies, Finding Nemo gets its magic from the ability to combine all-ages fun with a profound story that will touch audiences on a deeper level. The best Finding Nemo quotes speak to this brilliant mix.
Finding Nemo has emerged as perhaps Pixars most successful series after Toy Story, and it is justified as the film can be enjoyed by adults just as much as their kids love it. The movie won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, while also being nominated for its quotable original screenplay. There are several lessons in the movie for all kinds of generations, and these quotes demonstrate that for the audience.

A big change is coming to Walt Disney World's Epcot center, and it will be met with sorrow as well as understanding. The Seas, previously "The Living Seas," is losing one of its attractions. Disney announced on Wednesday that they will no longer have dolphins at the park.
Disney has long been a rehabilitation center for some marine life, including turtles, manatees, and, yes, dolphins. The announcement comes amid concerns over the animals' long-term health. Disney believes the dolphins would be better suited for another facility that is more apt to care for marine mammals.
In addition to the dolphins, one manatee will be relocated, and another will be brought into the manatee viewing area. It's good news that Disney will continue to support manatee care, rehabilitation, and rescue.

September is the time for the broadcast shows to bring back their top shows. That doesn’t mean there’s nothing on streaming to watch, though. In fact, Disney+ has some excellent offerings throughout September 2024.
No, there isn’t as much on Disney+ as there is on Netflix. It’s about quality, though, right? We want good TV shows, and that’s what we’re getting on Disney+ this month. There’s something for the entire family.
This list is in release date order. How can we compare a Marvel series up against something made for preschoolers? Most Disney+ shows will release weekly, unless otherwise stated.

We start off with something for the younger members of the family out there. Look, let’s be honest; we’ll watch it with our kids! Lego Pixar: BrickToons is a mash-up between Pixar and Lego.

It’s impossible not to like Inside the Mind of a Dog. The latest Netflix documentary, directed by Andy Mitchell, does exactly what the title says, i.e., attempts to figure out man’s best friend from a scientific perspective. That doesn’t mean the documentary lacks the human factor, though. With dogs as the subject matter, how can that ever happen? We’re going to look into what happens in the documentary and then share our thoughts about it in this article.
What Happens in the Documentary?
Narrated by actor Rob Lowe, who himself is a dog parent, along with experts and scientists on dog behavior, the documentary kicks off by tracing the origin of our furry friends. First, it lays down the obvious fact that many of us overlook: dogs are the most diverse animal species out there. So much so that if an alien race comes to the world,...

Disney animations have hit highs and lows at the box office as the studios strove to create movies that uphold modern standards. The mix of plotlines ranges from talking animals to snow queens, but what they all have in common is creativity and imagination that is beloved by many.
Although many Disney animations have hit big numbers at the worldwide box office, including Moana which reached $643,332,467, there's a much shorter list that compiles those which made it past $1 billion. Among them are movies from the same franchise and a few that have stood alone. Whether the films are to everyone's taste or not, there's no denying that each of the following movies has been triumphant and deserves to be acknowledged for their achievements.

Pixar's innovative storytelling and animation have set a high bar for their films, creating anticipation and nostalgia for audiences. Finding Nemo and Finding Dory were highly successful, loved by both critics and audiences, showcasing the timeless appeal of these characters. A potential Finding Nemo 3 could explore Marlin's traumatic past and give closure to beloved characters, offering a sense of nostalgia for fans.

Pixar Easter eggs hint at future movies, like Nemo's appearances in Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, and The Good Dinosaur. Toy Story and A Bug's Life lack Pixar Easter eggs, but from Monsters Inc. on, each movie reveals a link to the next film. Subtle Easter eggs, like Mr. Incredible in Finding Nemo or Duke Caboom in Incredibles 2, require keen eyes or a rewatch to catch.

Marlin lost his whole family in a barracuda attack, shaping his journey to find Nemo in Finding Nemo. The movie's dark themes may suggest that Nemo never existed, and was in fact a coping mechanism for Marlin's grief and loss. Finding Nemo may symbolize the five stages of grief, with Marlin navigating denial, anger, bargaining, despair, and acceptance.
Some viewers believe there is a dark Finding Nemo meaning behind the plot of the 2003 Pixar movie. Directed by Andrew Stanton, the story features Marlin the clownfish embarking on a journey to locate his missing son, Nemo. Though Finding Nemo was a hit with viewers of all ages, the truth in Marlin's search for Nemo may have been bleaker than initially thought. There was one popular belief suggesting Dory had short-term memory loss due to watching her family die. That didn't turn out to be the case based on the events of Finding Dory.

Eurovision Song Contest 2024 crowned its winner! With 591 points, Switzerland won it all with their song "The Code" by Nemo. The 24-year-old artist from the bilingual town of Biel/Bienne is non-binary and proved that their artistry and vocal prowess was the magic formula that broke the code. This year's contest has been bogged down by outside drama that has infiltrated into the competition, but within the competition itself, it has been filled with acceptance and visibility with the crop of artists that range the spectrum of identity. It's fitting that, with a mission of peace set out by the artists, the winner is the epitome of the message. Eurovision's theme was "United by Music." The artists did more than that. They used their platform on the world's biggest musical stage to unite and celebrate all people. As Abba says, "Thank you for the music."...

It speaks to the turmoil of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest that in the days after its end, the winner seems to be an afterthought and instead, the focus remains on the divisive nature of the competition.
Nonbinary singer Nemo won with their track “The Code,” totting up an enormous 591 points from a combination of juries in each participating country and the worldwide public. Croatia placed second with 547 points at the event in Malmö, Sweden, after thrilling viewers with an upbeat hit. Ukraine came in third with 453 points. Rounding out the top five were France (445 points) and Israel (375 points).
But it was a Eurovision that organizers might be in a hurry to forget. Reports of unrest among the contestants and country delegations ran amok on social media. Rumors of entrants missing rehearsals, flags being pulled down and claims of misconduct backstage hugely disrupted the usually peppy Eurovision build-up. The...

John Oliver took the first part of Last Week Tonight to talk about the Eurovision Song Contest and highlighted the act from Finland, known as Windows95man.
The HBO late-night host said the Finland entrant was his “absolute favorite,” who appeared on stage singing “No Rules!” written by Henri Piispanen, Jussi Roine and Teemu Keisteri.
Windows95man was seen on stage coming out of an egg-shaped enclosure wrapped in denim while only wearing a Windows95 crop top and cap.
“Yes! Fourteen thousand out of ten,” Oliver said after a clip of Windows95man’s performance.
He continued, “A man with flowing blonde locks and pervert glasses, hatching out of a denim egg? It’s like Botticelli’s Birth of Venus only this time it’s actually good.”

John Oliver had a favorite performer in this year’s Eurovision contest.
On HBO’s Last Week Tonight, the host opened the show by addressing the annual international music competition, which crowned its latest winner this weekend.
“The Eurovision Song Contest took place amid a slew of controversies, from calls for boycotts over Israel’s participation to the last-minute elimination of this Dutch contestant for alleged unlawful threats backstage,” Oliver said. “It was a lot of serious news around what is usually a magnificently silly competition, which to be fair still had some striking contestants, from Baby Lasagna from Croatia to Bambi Thug from Ireland to my absolute favorite, this guy from Finland.”
Oliver then played a clip of Finnish competitor Windows95man, who kicked off his performance of his song “No Rules!” while inside a large egg covered in denim. Watch the full performance below.

On Saturday night, nonbinary Swiss rapper Nemo won the iconic Eurovision Song Contest held in Malmö, Sweden.
The coronation happened just hours after Irish Eurovision contestant Bambie Thug called to disqualify Israeli singer Eden Golan from the music competition. Organizers moved Golan and Israel’s delegation into a separate room after facing criticism from pro-Palestine activists.
Pro-Palestine protesters held demonstrations in Malmö, Sweden, where the competition was held. Israel’s participation in the music competition sparked criticism and controversy after over 30,000 Palestinians have been in the ongoing Gaza war after a surprise attack by Hamas killed 1,200 Israelis.
During Golan’s performance, Bambie Thug claimed Israeli commentators violated the contest’s rules. The singer did not file an official complaint against Golan to be disqualified. Golan and Bambie Thug were separated as Bambie Thug was said to be “mad at Israel.”
