Myriad Pictures Enters Sales Of Korean Films With Heyday Productions’ Romantic Drama ‘Run To You’

Exclusive: Los Angeles-based sales and production company Myriad Pictures has picked up international rights to Korean romantic drama Run To You, directed by Lee Seunghoon, and will launch sales at the Asian Contents and Film Market (Acfm) during Busan film festival.

Produced by Korea’s Heyday Production, the film stars Ha Seok-Jin (Radiant Office), Lee Sin-Young (Crash Landing On You) and Dahyun, one of members of K-Pop girl group Twice.

The story revolves around a veteran sprinter (Ha Seok-jin), who is getting one last opportunity to re-kindle the love of his life, and a happy-go-lucky high schooler (Lee Sin-young) who pulls out all the stops to win over the love of Ji Eun (Dahyun).

Also scripted by Lee, the film marks his first narrative feature after directing short film Listen To My Heart and documentary A Not So Small Ball Launched By A Dwarf.

Basketball is not exactly a sport movies are frequently made about in Korean cinema. However, the true story of coach Kang Yang-hyeon and the Busan Jungang High School's 2012 run to the national championship final despite having only six players on its roster, definitely had some cinematic value, and after a decade of pondering, due to the efforts of BA Entertainment and scriptwriters Kim Eun-hee and Kwon Sung-hui, the story became a film. “Rebound” was rather successful in the local box office, opening up in the second place and currently holding the sixth for 2023.

South Korea sports drama ‘Rebound’ scores UK, Asia sales (exclusive)

South Korea’s K-Movie Entertainment has closed a slew of deals on basketball comeback drama Rebound led by Signal Pictures for the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

The film also sold to Taiwan (Movie Cloud), Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand (Clover Films), Philippines (888 Films International), in-flight (Encore), Cis (Kinologistika), Mongolia (The Filmbridge) and Hong Kong (Disney Hong Kong).

Written by Kwon Sung-hui (The Spy Gone North) and Kim Eun-hee (Netflix’s Kingdom), the film is based on a true story of the miraculous comeback by Busan’s Jung-Ang High School basketball team.

Synopsis
