“Michael” the upcoming biopic based on the late musician Michael Jackson could possibly be split into two movies, as distributor Lionsgate and Universal Pictures might push up the current Oct. 3 release date, according to a report in Deadline.
The film from director Antione Fuqua was a big part of 2024’s Lionsgate CinemaCon presentation, however no footage from the biopic was shown during these year’s convention, nor was it even mentioned.
The film stars Jackson’s own nephew, Jaafar Jackson, as the music icon in the film. Graham King/Gk Films produced, with a script written by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan.
“Michael” initially wrapped principal photography last May, but Logan’s script is currently being revised ahead of reshoots.
The film also stars Colman Domingo as family patriarch Joe Jackson, and Nia Long as Katherine Jackson. Miles Teller also stars as Jackson’s attorney and advisor John Branca.

Antoine Fuqua’s Michael Jackson biopic is reportedly in a “Jam” due to a legal issue with the film’s third act. According to Puck, Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson biopic is undergoing significant rewrites and reshoots because of a deal the Jackson estate made with one of the Gloved One’s child molestation accusers. Before the snag, the biopic was scheduled to moonwalk into theaters on October 3, 2025. However, that date is uncertain after Jackson’s legal team and the family of Jordan Chandler, the then 13-year-old who accused Jackson of molestation in 1993, disagreed about specific details.
The deal made with the Chandler family stipulates that they cannot be featured in any movies focusing on Jackson’s life. However, the third act portion of the script for Fuqua’s Michael focuses significantly on the Chandlers’ 1993 legal battle with the King of Pop, which ended in a $20 million settlement. The phrase “let...

The third season of HBO’s hit controversial show Euphoria has been delayed due to a bevy of reasons, but HBO boss Casey Bloys said last month that the series should commence very soon. “We are shooting Euphoria,” Bloys said. “I think we have a start date, mid to late January. Nothing’s changed. Somebody said something online, and then this whole thing started. We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We’re happy. We’re moving ahead. All of the actors are in the show.“
Very little is known about this season. Apparently, even one of the show’s breakout stars, Colman Domingo, hasn’t yet seen a script, but he has been hyped about returning ever since discussing it with the series creator, who is coming off of the equally controversial HBO series The Idol. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Domingo appeared on an episode of the U.

Even in death, the late, great James Earl Jones remains a "Star Wars" legend, a Broadway icon, one of the most gifted orators in modern history, and a true titan of Hollywood. But if you're a baseball fan -- specifically a baseball movie fan -- he'll always be Terence Mann from "Field of Dreams." Jones' performance as the reclusive author-turned-ghost-baseball-observer is a major anchor for the classic film, grounding the loftier emotional beats. The movie might have felt even more grounded if the character hadn't been changed from the version of the character in the novel "Shoeless Joe," on which "Field of Dreams" is based.
In W.P. Kinsella's 1982 book, the writer sought out by protagonist Ray Kinsella isn't some made-up person, but J.D. Salinger, best known as the author of "The Catcher in the Rye." Though Salinger had already pulled back from public life when Kinsella's novel was published,...

Miles Teller has high hopes for the Michael Jackson biopic. The 37-year-old actor will portray the King of Pop's lawyer John Branca in the upcoming movie 'Michael' and revealed that his lifelong fascination with the 'Thriller' artist was key to persuading him to feature in the film.In an interview with Collider, Miles said: "From the time I was a little kid, I've been fascinated with Michael Jackson. I learned how do to the moonwalk and was like, (imitates Michael), even when I was just a little kid."He's the greatest performer of all time, in my opinion. He was such a complicated individual, and I think we'll get to explore that."Michael's nephew, Jaafar (Jackson), is playing Michael, and it's uncanny. I'm excited."The 'Top Gun: Maverick' actor added: "It's the King of Pop, baby. It's gonna be a rock show."The biopic, which is slated for...

For over 50 years, the late James Earl Jones' name in the credits of a film was reason enough to devote a couple of hours to a movie. Was it always a satisfying two hours? As someone who sat through "Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold," "Three Fugitives," and "Soul Man," I can confidently say no.
This is more than fine. Jones was a working actor who took the "work" part seriously. As he told journalist Joe Leydon in 1989, "This is my profession. I do need to make a living at it, because I can't make a living any other way." So, when you're not getting offered, say, "The Great White Hope" every time out, you roll up your sleeves and do some time on the sets of "Blood Tide," "Best of the Best," and "Excessive Force" with no apologies. Those paychecks keep you afloat while you wait for...

There is no secret to making a classic movie. There's no tried-and-true formula or a can't-miss piece of source material that equates to a masterpiece provided you assemble the right director, writer(s), and actors. And as Francis Ford Coppola learned while making "The Godfather," there's no guarantee that, once you seemingly have all the right pieces in their right place, the studio will sit back and let you shoot your shot.
All-timers can also sneak up on you. Michael Jackson fans need to wait longer for Antoine Fuqua’s highly-anticipated biopic about the King of Pop to rock their world after Lionsgate announced delays for two of its films. Michael Jackson is a name that echoes in the hearts of music lovers around the world. Before tragically passing in 2009, Michael Jackson had released multiple albums and hit songs such as Thriller, They Don’t Care About Us, Billie Jean, and many more. The multi-platinum singer-songwriter inspired musicians across a vast set of genres, despite being the greatest pop singer ever.
However, Jackson was put under the spotlight for several reasons, one of them being his unique voice, which never changed even after puberty. And Joe Rogan never backs down from discussing highly controversial topics.

Steven Spielberg has been putting together quite the cast for his next major project, and Deadline reports that Colman Domingo (Euphoria) is in early talks to join up.
Should Domingo sign on the dotted line, he would join a cast that includes Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer), Colin Firth (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and Eve Hewson (Hedda). As for the project itself, we don’t know much about it, only that it’s said to be a UFO movie based on Spielberg’s own original idea, with David Koepp (Jurassic Park) writing the screenplay. A UFO movie from the man who gave us Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and War of the Worlds is pretty much all I need to know. Bring it on. Universal Pictures has already slated the project for a May 15, 2026 release.
Domingo has been enjoying a hell of a run over the last year.

There is little argument over Michael Jackson’s status as the King of Pop, with the music icon becoming a global superstar during his career. Although Jackson achieved the heights of popularity few other artists in the music industry have seen, his personal life was always in the spotlight for different reasons, especially due to his relationship with his family.
Michael Jackson made serious allegations against his father Joe Jackson.
In a series of taped conversations with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, Jackson opened up about his relationship with his father, Joe Jackson, who had served as the manager of Jackson 5 and pushed his children to pursue a music career. In the interview, Jackson accused his father of being physically and emotionally abusive towards his children. He said (via Today.com).
He would throw you and hit you as hard as he can. He was very physical.

Roland Emmerich and Antoine Fuqua may have each helmed a dueling White House invasion movie in 2013, but it was all love between them at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.
Collider brought two of the most successful action directors of all time together in Hall H to discuss their work in a panel moderated by Steven Weintraub.
“Right before shooting, maybe a month before, I learned he was shooting another one that was called ‘Olympus Has Fallen,'” Emmerich said — revealing he actually watched Fuqua’s film on a plane. “I thought, this is such a better title than ‘White House Down.'”
Fuqua, who also confirmed he’s seen Emmerich’s film, added, “I figured there’s room for those stories. Obviously, it’s two different directors, two different visions on that.” He said the comparisons only fueled the fire inside to step his own game up, continuing, “When you...

Las Vegas – First, for those who care, CinemaCon has witnessed the first sneak of Antoine Fuqua‘s Michael Jackson biopic “Michael” and if you’re a hardcore fan, you will be quite happy with the results so far. Hollywood has been obsessed with biopics for what seems like forever, but it's hard not to admit that our current film landscape is reaching critical mass with movies about famous people. I guess when they've run out of recognizable IP, they've gotta center stories about recognizable faces instead. Last year alone we saw "Maestro," "The Iron Claw," "Napoleon," "Ferrari," "Nyad," "Priscilla," and "Big George Forman," not to mention brand movies like "Blackberry," "Tetris," "Air," and "Barbie." And then, of course, there's "Oppenheimer," which not only took home seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, but also became the highest-grossing biopic of all time. No shade to our boy Oppy, but it seems like a new film from Antoine Fuqua is coming for that title and the fact it's a movie about the most famous musical performer to ever live certainly gives the project a leg up on the father of the atomic bomb.

Not everyone is thrilled that there’s a biopic being made about pop sensation Michael Jackson. The director of “Leaving Neverland,” the HBO documentary that delves into accusations of Jackson’s alleged child abuse, last month accused director Antoine Fuqua’s film of being “a complete whitewash” and that it aims to “completely rewrite the allegations and dismiss them out of hand.”
However at CinemaCon on Wednesday, “Michael” producer Graham King took the stage to say that the new biopic, currently in production, “will get into all of it.”
King promised “Michael” includes 30 songs and recreations of Jackson’s performances throughout his career but also depictions of “his life outside the public eye, things many people have never seen before.”
“Everyone has an opinion on him,” King said about Mj, acknowledging the blinding accusations that surrounded his career, saying that ultimately the film is a portrait of a “complex” man,...

Believe it or not, even the most beloved movies can face initial skepticism from actors. Field of Dreams, a 1989 classic, became more than just a sports movie.
