Hockey India announces 40-Member core probables for sub-junior women’s coaching camp

New Delhi, Aug 18 (Ians) Hockey India on Friday announced a significant milestone in the development of grassroots hockey in the country by naming the core probable group for a first-ever sub-junior national camp.

For the first time, a 40-member Women’s sub-junior core group has been formed for a national coaching camp which is set to commence on August 21 at the world-class Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.

It is worth noting that former Indian women’s hockey team captain Rani will serve as a mentor and coach for the camp.

The development marks a remarkable step towards nurturing young talent and ensuring a robust future for Indian hockey and it will bring together the brightest and most promising young talents from across the nation. The players have been picked on the basis of their recent performances in the Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championships, Hockey India informed in a release on Friday.

Issf Shooting: Men’s Trap Team wins silver on penultimate day of Junior World Championships

New Delhi, July 23 (Ians) The Indian Men’s Trap Team comprising Bakhtyaruddin Malek, Shardul Vihaan and Arya Vansh Tyagi won silver on the penultimate day of the International Shooting Sport Federation (Issf) World Championship Juniors in Changwon, Korea, on Sunday.

The trio shot a combined 346 as Shotgun powerhouse Italy took gold with a total of 356, bagging India’s 15th medal in the championship so far.

Earlier none of the Indian Men’s Trap shooters were able to make the finals, however, Ashima Ahlawat in the Women’s Trap, did make the top six, only to finish on that same number in the finals as well.

Ashima shot 109 in qualification and then came through taking one of the three final spots in a six-way shoot-off. Teammate Preeti Rajak was the first to be eliminated in that shoot-off.

Youth Men's National Boxing C'ships: Asian Junior Champion Krrish Pal advances to pre-quarters

Gangtok, June 15 (Ians) The 2022 Asian Junior boxing Champion Krrish Pal showed his prowess and advanced to the pre-quarterfinals on the second day of sixth Youth Mens National Boxing Championships, here on Thursday.

In the 48kg round of 32 bout, Krrish was representing Chandigarh and faced Lovepreet Singh of Rajasthan. He was too quick for his opponent right from the beginning and smartly landed a combination of punches consistently. As a result, the referee had to stop the contest in the first round.

Krrish will take on Mohammad Junad of Telangana in the next round.

Three more boxers from Chandigarh — Aaditya Raj (71kg), Bhavya Saini (80kg) and Ankush (92+kg) also won their respective bouts and progressed to the next round.

Aadtiya blanked Jammu & Kashmir’s Raizwan whereas Bhavya won unanimously against Goa’s Suyashparab. Ankush defeated Rishi Govindu of Andhra Pradesh by RSC in the first round.

Mumbai, May 24 (Ians) After working extensively in Hollywood and Bollywood, veteran actor Kabir Bedi is all set to make his Kannada debut at the age of 77 with ‘Kari Haida? Koragajja’.

Sudhir Attavar’s film is about a 12th-century Adivasi boy who is worshipped as a god. The film explores the indigenous culture and traditions in Karnataka.

Kabir Bedi and Attavar were spotted dubbing the film in Mumbai, from where the duo took to social media to share a sneak peek into the movie.

Kabir Bedi, who plays the role of a king in the movie, said: “Very good cast, a good director and producer, and above all a great story. I think it will make for a beautiful viewing experience.”

New Delhi, May 15 (Ians) Hockey Haryana were crowned Champions of the 13th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National 2023 after they defeated Hockey Jharkhand 3-2 in the final of the 11-day tournament which was held at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha.

Notably, Hockey Haryana came from behind twice to defeat Hockey Jharkhand in a thrilling encounter. After Sangita Kumari (7′) and Ankita Minz (27′) netted a goal each to put Hockey Jharkhand in front, Bhavya equalised and then won the game for Hockey Haryana. Meenakshi (36′) also scored a crucial goal for the Champions.

New Delhi, May 13 (Ians) Hockey Jharkhand and Hockey Haryana won their respective semifinal clashes in the 13th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women’s National Championship 2023 to set up an exciting summit clash at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha.

The first match on Saturday saw Hockey Jharkhand prevail over Uttar Pradesh Hockey 2-1 in a penalty shootout after the two teams remained locked 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

The goal scorers for Hockey Jharkhand were Roshni Aind (2′) and Jamuna Kumari (28′) while Vandana Patel scored a brace for Uttar Pradesh Hockey to force a penalty shootout.

Hockey Jharkhand’s goalkeeper Gangi Barla saved four of the five penalties while Jamuna Kumari and Sweety Dungdung converted their chances to seal victory for Hockey Jharkhand.

In the other semifinal, Hockey Haryana defeated the Hockey Association of Odisha 3-1 in a penalty shootout after the two teams finished 1-1 at the end of regulation time.

New Delhi, May 6 (Ians) Shashi Khasa blasted 10 goals as Hockey Haryana defeated Tripura Hockey 32-0 in the 13th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women’s National Championship 2023 at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha.

In other matches on Saturday, Hockey Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh Hockey, and Hockey Himachal registered wins in their respective games.

The first match on Saturday saw Hockey Haryana thrash Tripura Hockey by a comprehensive 32-0 scoreline. The goal scorers for Hockey Haryana were Priyanka, Shashi Khasa, Ravina, Simran Kataria (5′), Team Captain Pooja, Khushi, Anjani, Bhavya (29′), Kiriti (34′), Seema, and Nidhi (46′).

Hockey Jharkhand beat Hockey Uttarakhand 4-0 in the second match. Rajni Kerketta (26′) and Roshni Aind (28′) scored a goal each while Sweety Dungdung registered a brace to end the game in Hockey Jharkhand’s favour.

Mumbai, Feb 21 (Ians) In the latest episode of business reality show ‘Shark Tank India 2’, Founder and CEO of Shaadi.com – People Group, Anupam Mittal, and Co-Founder and CMO of boAt, Aman Gupta, who are also judging the show, entered into an argument during which Anupam called Aman ‘fekuchand’ (boastful person).

Aman and Peyush Bansal gave a lucrative investment offer of Rs 1 crore for 5.4 equity to the founders of the Eeg headband which didn’t go down well with Anupam.

Lucknow, Oct 17 (Ians) There were plenty of goals on the fifth day of the Khelo India Women’s Hockey League (Under-16) Phase – 2 here on Monday as Sports Hostel Odisha, Sports Authority of India ‘A’, Pritam Siwach Sports Promotion Foundation, Sports Authority of India ‘B’, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and Har Hockey Academy registered wins in their respective matches.

In the first game on Day 5, Sports Hostel Odisha were up against Smart Hockey Academy and defeated them 5-1. Smart Hockey Academy took the lead in the first minute with Navroop Kaur finding the back of the net, but Sports Hostel Odisha bounced back. Premsila Bage (15′) equalized in the first quarter, after which Anima Oram (17′), captain Amisha Ekka and Priyanka Rout (44′) helped Sports Hostel Odisha register the win.
