Biography

Sarah Asante is a Scripted TV Consultant - specialising in Comedy, Drama and Digital shorts. As a former Scripted Commissioning Editor at UKTV, Sarah was responsible for developing, commissioning and executive producing brand-new scripted comedy shows for both Dave and Gold. Commissions include The Other Half (RangaBee), Perfect (Happy Tramp), Dead Canny (Tri-Force), Holier Than Thou (Big Deal Films), Sneakerhead by Rough Cut Television starring Hugo Chegwin (People Just Do Nothing) and GOLD comedy, Newark, Newark by Balloon Entertainment written by Nathan Foad (Our Flag Means Death, Bloods). Sarah joined UKTV from the BBC - starting in the public service broadcaster's comedy team as a Development and Digital Content Editor in 2015 and was later promoted to Commissioning Editor in 2018 - providing editorial oversight on a slate delivering short form series and long form sketch and sitcom ideas for BBC Two and Three. Sarah's commissions include BAFTA Winning cult hit sketch show Famalam and comedy pilots Int'l EMMY Nominated Dreaming Whilst Black and Behind the Filter (by Phoebe Walsh, Ted Lasso) with the former attracting partner ships from A24 and sold to Showtime for the US market. Before joining the BBC, Sarah spent over a decade working in commissioning teams across Factual and Entertainment at Fox International Channels, Scripps Networks, ITV and Channel 4.
